FORMAL OR INFORMAL, WITH MUSIC OR WITHOUT, YOU COULD BE AT A GLAMOUROUS GALA WHILE A SINGER CROONS SOFTLY OR IN THE SILENCE OF YOUR OWN LIVING ROOM. WHEREVER YOU ARE, YOU HAVE THE URGE TO DANCE. DID YOU ASK YOUR PARTNER OR DID THEY ASK YOU? HAVE YOU GOT TWO LEFT FEET OR IS THE VIENNESE WALTZ YOUR JAM? IT COULD BE AWKWARD, IT COULD BE ROMANTIC. EITHER WAY IT'S CUTE AS HELL.

( the annual press ball isn't usually lois' cup of tea, or tumbler of whiskey. it isn't that she doesn't like dressing up or being feminine so much as that she thinks that her colleagues should just see her as a reporter first and foremost, as she does them. the endless have you picked a dress yet? generally gets on her nerves enough that she just skips the evening altogether.

this year, though? this year, clark has asked her if she'd like to go with him, and their relationship isn't a secret at work, but they haven't made any grand announcements about it, either. perry knows, and doesn't care so long as it doesn't impact their work or level of professionalism. the thing is — the thing is, lois would like to go with clark. she'd like it very much.

of course she says yes. she'd like to say that she hasn't spend any amount of time at all on picking a dress. she knows clark wouldn't care if she showed up in jeans and a t-shirt, and yet.

in the end, she's picked a long green gown that compliments her hair and complexion (the sales person's words, not her own), letting aforementioned hair tumble down her — largely bare — back. it's a nice dress, and she's glad to see clark's eyes linger now and again.

lois finishes the last of her drink, and sets it aside. )
Did you want to dance? ( they're here, they might as well, right? more than that, this is another one of those things she finds she's never put much stock in before but suddenly wants to do, with him. )
