COUPLE'S NIGHTLY ROUTINE MEME It's time for you and your significant other to go to sleep...no, not that way. Get your mind out of the gutter! You two are sharing a bed for whatever reason and have been for a while. Surely by now, you have a routine on how you get ready for bed. Do you help each other out with your tasks, like putting up your hair, changing into PJs, or brushing teeth? Do you watch TV before you hit the hay? Read? Does one of you want to stay up all night long while the other one just wants to sleep? Then, of course, there's the actual sleeping habits. Does trouble with human contact lead you to sleep with miles between you - and is that an issue - or do you snuggle? Could both of you whisper sweet words into each other's ears across the pillows? Except he'd probably wake up with a crick in his neck the next morning, so Danny's not about to let him.

"You think so?" Except maybe that's why Danny rarely instigates much past their usual flirting banter, and sometimes they make out like stupid, horny teenagers-- but, he almost prefers it this way. Everything else is too complicated and they're... he and Matt, they're just easy.

He finishes his slow prodding, speeding up the healing process the best he can, at least with out exhausting himself in the process.

"Don't make me carry you."

"I can only assume."

Matt stretches when he stands, letting out a resigned sigh for effect. Some things pop and crack, but, hey. He doesn't really go easy on himself.

"I'll go get you some extra bedding for the couch now."

Except Danny doesn't let him, because it's a waste of his time. Instead he just follows Matt into his bedroom, and rather than letting him near the closet, takes his hand and pulls him towards his bed instead.

Matt's not going to complain. He lets himself be led, pressing a kiss to Danny's shoulder before crawling into bed. He scootches over to leave room and holds out his arm, creating what should be a perfect spot for Danny to cuddle into.

He follows him down with a soft almost chuckle, sinking into the cozy blankets and then further into Matt's arms. It's... nice, if he'll ever admit to it or not, getting to curl into another warm, safe human being; tangling with him so they can share that bit of space until he has nose pressed against Matt's collarbone.

And it's a little funny, because while it's no secret that Danny's an affectionate person-- Matt probably hasn't often been accused as such. Who knew that the devil liked to cuddle once in awhile?

"I won't tell." As if to voice his thoughts, pressing a smile against his skin.

"Hmm?"

Because Matt has yet to develop the skill to mind read. He wraps his arm around Danny, holding him close, letting the rise and fall of Danny's chest and his steady heartbeat soothe away the last of the adrenaline lingering in Matt's body.

"That you're a cuddler." He keeps his voice low, breath ghosting warm... like it's a secret.

Matt laughs. He can't help it. It bubbles up and he gives Danny a nudge, but pulls him back in.

"Why wouldn't I be a cuddler?"

[dannyrand]

He tips his head up, leaning in to bump their noses, then slants their foreheads together. "You mean besides your aloof, tough guy exterior?" At least when he's the devil, but most of their mutual friends only know him as such...

Matt Murdock is a completely different cookie.

"It comes with the name."

Danny probably just brings it out in him, really, but Matt finds a lot of the time he feels starved for anything. Human contact is a necessity, and it's something he doesn't get much of. Matt's always on-and-off with the few friends he keeps. Danny just sort of gets to be the lucky man to bear the worst of it.

He's... really okay with that, because despite the constant (playful) banter, he's really quite fond of Matt. And if he can be the one to help keep him grounded? Then all the better.

"And the profession?" Danny reaches up to rasp fingers across his jaw, over the day or so's worth of stubble so he can tip his chin up and take a quick kiss. It's hard to resist when they're this close.

"Something like that."

Matt smiles, catching Danny's hand lightly by the wrist. He presses a kiss to Danny's fingertips.

They're really both kind of gross and sappy, huh?

His fingers twitch slightly and he turns it over to draw the backs of his knuckles along his cheek, leaning his head back up to watch him with a half-lidded gaze.

"I hope you don't work tomorrow."

"Why? Big plans for us?"

Matt is fine with being gross and sappy with Danny. It makes him feel warm and cuddly inside.

"Um... pancakes." It's Saturday, of course pancakes.

"With blueberries?"

He gives Danny a squeeze. "I might be able to stay home for blueberries."

[dannyrand]

"That's all it takes, huh? Deal." He's not past bribing Matt with breakfast to get a lazy day of playing hooky, especially since they don't really get a lot of quiet moments.

"Now you know my secret."

Matt doesn't actually have to do much work tomorrow. Nothing that can't be done from home, in any case, and he can get started on it while Danny puts food on the table.

"Only your deep dark ones." He lets his hand drop so he can wrap his arm around Matt's waist.

"I think I'm all right with that."

Matt hums and closes his eyes.

Danny finally goes quiet, giving him a brief squeeze before relaxing against him. This was totally better than the couch.
