Just what it says on the tin: you're in a tea shop. Maybe it's your first time, or maybe you're a regular. Maybe you're alone, or with a friend, or a group. Maybe you're celebrating something, or writing the next great novel, or you simply want to sit down and enjoy your tea. Maybe you don't like tea at all; maybe someone dragged you there. Maybe you know more about tea than the proprietor. Maybe you are the proprietor.

Ba Sing Se certainly has its share of...odd refugees.

Which isn't necessarily so bad, as it draws attention away from 'Lee' and his Uncle as inconspicuous tea shop workers, instead of fire nation royal exiles.

Still, the weird ones make Zuko even more awkward, especially when it comes to tray service.

When are people done with their tea? Some customers don't really give clear signals when they're okay with you clearing the previous cup away. You'd think when they'd ordered another, right? But this guy has somehow managed to accumulate teabowls all over the low table, and every time he passes by on a shop sweep and pauses, wondering if he should go clear them away, for some reason Zuko thinks better of it.

After the third time of loping off awkwardly, the proprietor demands that at least some get retrieved and washed- So here's the world's most pathetic runaway prince, bowing sheepishly in his apron and muttering some miserable rendition of 'scuse me, let me just...get a few of these out of your way, avoiding eye contact and just trying to transfer some of the mostly-finished teabowls away without inviting further commentary.

Uncle is so much better at customer service.

It had been all to easy to open a shop that sold actual, non-emotion laced teas, and all too amusing to interact with the patrons. Despite being the owner, he's taken up residence at a table near the font and is preforming simple tricks with a chipped cup for nearby customers.]

One little Seer wanders in and settles herself at his table. She's seen way too much death to be frightened by his aura, but that speaks of stupidity rather than bravery. She's due to die in just a few weeks. Sudden unexpected heart failure--it might have been expected (or even prevented) if she'd bothered to go to the doctor about her fainting spells, but it's amazing what the human mind can rationalise and choose to ignore. She orders a cup of black tea, and settles in to wait, leaving it to him to start a conversation.

The table is set precisely with china and silver, and an antique stand holds a collection of small sandwiches and biscuits. The only thing out of place on the table is a black leather riding crop, well cared for and supple.

A young woman wearing a collar of velvet and silver approaches to pour Irene a cup of tea from the teapot, and her breath quickens at the sight of the riding crop. Irene taps bright red fingernails against the tablecloth and dismisses the young woman with a careless gesture.

There'd be plenty of time for entertainment later. For the moment there was other business to attend to as she sipped her tea.]

Of course this spare seat happened to be situated at a table already occupied by a flamboyantly dressed old gentleman, but beggars can't be choosers. It was either sitting here with this strange fellow or having to drink his precious tea in some drafty corner.

The painfully awkward and slightly abrasive young man with the very nasty scar, sweeping up the shop in an apron? Not here to enjoy tea at all.

In fact, if misery had a poster boy? It might just be 'Lee'.

He's a diligent worker though, because that's just about the only thing to do, and if he stops looking busy his embarrassingly popular uncle will stop enchanting the new regulars for a few minutes and try to set him up with the first lovely young lady of Ba Sing Se to come strolling unsuspectingly through the doorway.

Kotetsu wasn't sure exactly why he'd opted for a tea shop that day. It wasn't his usual type of hang out. Something caught his eye, though, and he was soon enjoying something strong. He assumed it was the atmosphere. Kinda reminded him of home.

In any case, it probably wasn't the wisest idea. At least for someone as careless as Kotetsu could be at times. It wasn't terribly long before disaster struck. He reached for his cup, not really paying attention to much else, and bumped a teapot with his arm. It hit the ground with a huge crash.

Rubbing the back of his neck and avoiding the eyes of other patrons, there was only one thing he could say: "Oops."

[Outing days are rare treats- most of the time, Ansem's youngest apprentice and ward is cooped up in the castle. 'Cooped up', of course, is accurate only in the very loosest sense of the term, considering just how large a gilded cage it is, filled with curious nooks and crannies. Still, the rest of the tiny world that Radiant Garden has to offer is usually off limits to Ienzo's boundless curiosity.

So an afternoon past the castle gates is something to be spend wisely, dragging his caretaker around by the hand from shop to shop, tugging at Even's sleeves to ask a volley after volley of whispered questions on tiptoe, stretching for the attention of his ear.

They'd made their rounds past Scrooge McDuck's latest enterprise, visited Merlin's Place (Ienzo stood in silent wonder at all the hodgepodge), and probably hotly offended his elder colleague with the observation that Moogles were more skilled in producing things with their synthesis arts than anything that he'd ever seen created in the labs.

So now there was just enough time for a short sandwich break, at the town's teahouse. Ienzo sat up on his knees, across from Even at a dainty chair by the window. He ordered his Earl Grey "with no sugar and liberal cream, please," something which made Dilan's engineering mentor Cid, who sitting across the way, guffaw aloud into his tablespread of blueprints at his precociousness.]
