THE SURVIVAL HUNT MEME


INSTRUCTIONS:
1 - Post a comment with your character's name and canon.
2 - If you would like, write a note on where your character is and what they're doing.

WHERE ARE YOU?
1 - ISLAND. Out in the middle of the ocean, and no radio to transmit a distress call.
2 - WILDERNESS. Out in an endless forest. Maybe you got lost camping; maybe you're on a journey.
3 - DESERT. Sand. Cacti and scrub. You're gonna get real thirsty, real fast, and watch out for how cold it gets at night.
4 - RUINS. Ancient ruins, or is it an abandoned city? Either way, the wreckage of civilization may offer shelter.
5 - FROZEN WASTELAND. Everywhere you look, there's nothing but ice and rocks.
6 - SPACE. Alone on an alien planet, or drifting in a spaceship. How do you survive with only the materials you have around you?
7 - BATTLEFIELD. It's a war zone, and you're trying to make it through. How do you hide and stay alive?
OTHER.

WHAT DO YOU NEED?
1 - FOOD It might take weeks to kill you, but you're hungry now.
2 - WATER. Even more importantly, clean water, unless you want to get sick.
3 - SHELTER. It's raining, or snowing, or maybe you saw a tornado touch down a few miles back. Get inside now.
4 - WEAPONS & AMMO. Those zombies aren't far behind you, and your rifle's useless unless you have the shot for it.
5 - CLOTHES. Whether it's a heavy jacket and a good pair of boots or your buddies left you naked halfway along the Appalachian Trail, what you need is some clothes.
6 - HEAT. Time to build a fire, or share a blanket.
7 - THAT THINGAMAJIG. Got plenty of cans of food, but no can opener. Maybe your last pair of shoelaces broke. Maybe you're in desperate need of a pair of solar-charged batteries for your industrial-strength hairdryer. Either way, it's just one little thing that you need, and you can't seem to do anything without it.
8 - OTHER.

It's Halloween. The dead wander. And occasionally, become blissfully, wildly lost. Violet moves through the tress, half high of the exhilaration of being anywhere new in the world. The air is colder up here, wherever her hitchhiking has landed her. The sky is stormy. The tops of trees bend with every gust of wind.

Some of the other residents of the house like to use the day to catch up on the world, bring back papers and books. Some go seek out new people, or past family members.

Violet just runs until she's as close to alone as possible. Coming upon a stranger in the dark is really the last thing she's expecting.

Lightning had found the man quite strange at first, it was their first mission together, but she had seen him around before. How could she forget, that face. Half of it was hid behind that mask, she wanted to ask him to take it off. But she never did, they weren't so familiar.

Until their plane went down. Everyone, the whole squad of eleven men and herself, they all knew each other then. So intimately even, that some hugged, some wept, and others forgave one another for past wrongs. It was the ultimate time, the opportune time, the only time left, that they had left on this world. Advantages were taken, and Lightning took one of her own. Richard Harrow, she thought him strange at first, she thought him odd, too quiet, too secretive, and she had grown to hate that mask. But never did she ask him to take it off. Their enemy would push her, as their bird was shot down from the sky and they were strapped to the seats next to one another. Spiraling down, their bodies clashing against one another, voices shouting, people grabbing hold their brothers in arm's hands. She sat between Richard and the cockpit, she saw the dark rippling sea beneath the them, coming up fast to meet them. It was the beginning of a new day, but they would not see the sun. She was fine with that.

Her hand moved for Richard's and she held it tightly. For the first month, she trained him, explained the details of their duties, and expressed a few favors of the culture of the foreign lands they occupied. But he was so strange and so quiet. She learned quickly that he didn't like to talk. He could, of course, but he didn't like to. "Richard!" She shouted over the other men weeping, praying, and shouting amongst themselves. "Richard!" She swallowed and her hand squeezed his. "My name," she went on to say, a sudden bump to the plane and they all jumped into their straps harshly, her hand ripped from his own and she quickly found his once again. "It's Claire!" Her breath was heavy, fast, and she looked to the cockpit's large windows and braced herself. Soon now. Her head whipped back to Richard's. "Live! Live through this! I'll find you! Find me!" She was scared and her eyes began to weep. "Richard!" She wanted him to promise her.

Then the plane slammed into the water and the waves crushed the metal all around them. Pieces broke, glass shards shot back to the belly of the plane, some were dead before the water even touched them, others were unstrapping their straps and began to head for either the back of the plane, or the front –– since the windows were smashed in. Lightning's hands were on her own straps and she unfastened them and fought her way to the back of the plane, its cargo door open, and she, along others, began to swim for it.

They want to tell us to be prepared, but we never are. No matter how much training you have, your world becomes so much smaller in the heat of the battle.
All you want is to survive the fight, and that makes you desperate. I've made a few mistakes.

Clint raises his bow with a grim, determined look on his face, despite his arms tremoring from exhaustion, despite how dry and cracked his voice sounds.

[ he's tired, he's hungry and he hasn't had this much blood burning his nose since he broke his nails clear off trying to claw his way out of an impossible metal box, since—no. he's not going to go there because it won't help him, won't help Derek and he doesn't dare think the word pack. pack is a word for numbers and they don't have those on their side right now. the last time he saw Erica—growling with fangs barred, blood matted in the hair at her jawline—he can't place it, he can't place anything because shots are sounding off.

glass is shattering, and nobody is screaming. why isn't anyone screaming? there should be noise and life and proof of existence, riots implying they matter, that they're children. but he can't hear anything.

and boyd (he doesn't hear him roaring but something thumped down like a tree, rattled the forest floor), he hasn't seen him since the Argents and all of their friends circled in around them. (how does a family that awful have so many allies?) how do they pull that many people by the strings fastened around their necks? leashes. dogs tracking wolves.

you go for the throat and you don't stop until their pulse dies spurting on your tongue. he knows this with the certainty of accomplishment but not with confidence of his ego. he doesn't have the luxury anymore.
