Earlier had been a mess - a mess of a fight, messy armor, and a streak of what used to be human slavers streaked across the sands of the Wounded Coast. They'd muttered about "reclaiming Fenris" for some man named "Danarius," and some part of him had snapped. Giving in to his instincts, he'd released enough of his power to alter his form, into that of some half-humanoid (and half-clothed,) half-dragon creature with blue clawed hands and feet, a tail, and webbing-less wings.

And, well, after all was said and done, there were no slavers left, and what wasn't a streak of blood was a frozen-solid body part from his ice magic and bare, bloodied hands. Fou-Lu almost hadn't gotten a grip back on himself as he came down, which was quite embarrassing, to say the least. He hadn't entered his half-dragon state in so long, his body shook from the almost-forgotten rush.

And, to say the least, he was still surprised that Fenris wanted to remain with him. He'd been afraid that he would leave if he told him. It wasn't like they talked about their problems or their pasts if they could help it. They met, they battled together and bantered, and they shared cheap wine and fucked. It was easier that way. That way, neither of them would get too attached. Except... Fou-Lu had failed at that. He'd failed to guard his heart, and now he'd silently given it to someone whom he wasn't even sure felt the same way. And he resolved to never ask. Part of him almost wanted to cry, but... gods don't cry.

He kept seeing an image of her face in his mind. Of the woman he began to love only to for her to be murdered. For the first time in his long life, instead of the desire to pursue, the desire to flee gripped him at his core. He didn't want anything ill to come to Fenris, no matter whose fault it was. If it meant that they were better off parting ways--

--he didn't want to think like that. But if he had to... by gods, he would. He didn't want the past to repeat. Not now, and not ever again.

In some twisted desire to remain close, to become his, as they approached the bedroom to the inn that they'd booked, Fou-Lu could only see himself on his knees for him. He wanted to be bent over, to be claimed, and it was such an uncanny desire that it settled strangely in the base of his brain. He'd never wanted to kneel before anyone before now.

An old emperor like him without a domain - a forgotten domain at that - bowing to a mortal?

His younger self would have laughed.

Clothing feeling too stifling, Fou-Lu first disarmed himself before starting to wriggle out of his bloodstained clothing as soon as the door was closed behind them, within the relative privacy of the room. He'd only managed to wriggle out of the top half of his jumpsuit and his shirt before he approached Fenris again.

Nothing about their joining was ever gentle, but Fou-Lu couldn't help but embrace him, and carefully tucked his face against the elf's shoulder. Armor on or not, he didn't care. He didn't care if Fenris shoved him for his impulsive actions.

All he wanted to do was reassure himself that Fenris was here, alive, and well. For just a moment.
