The Hotel Between Worlds



You are no longer in your own world. A bellhop hands you a room key and mutters that all luggage has to be carried by residents, company policy. After that, well, the rest is up to you.

The hotel between worlds is an expansive resort in the middle of nothing. There's a pool, a bar, rooms, a lounge, a game room and arcade, a restaurant, and much more.

Characters have been sent there for an enforced vacation from their reality. Time to get drunk, sleep it off, and generally try to find their way around the labyrinthian hallways of the hotel.

This meme is a test run to check interest for a Dressing Room of the same premise.
The dressing room will be geared towards players creating their own starters.

Um...Yeah, but nothing that would have anything like that.

[Assuming the small convenience area with little overpriced toiletries and umbrellas even counts as a shop.]

How do they expect me to sleep without being surrounded by baby animals?

[ From her tone of voice it's hard to tell whether she's amused or sympathetic. It almost sounds more like the latter. ]

I'll keep my eyes open.

Oh, thanks! Um...

[ A pause. Then, she looks appalled with herself. ]

Oh, gosh. I totally forgot to ask your name. Uh, duh, Soleil. That's my name, by the way.

"Soleil." [ She doesn't say it so much as roll it around in her mouth.

Another smile. She was right about you and the sun. ] I'm Michiru. Kaioh Michiru.

[ There is something very enigmatic about this lady. Soleil is already enamored. ]

Hehe. Michiru. Um...I notice you're wandering around here all on your own. If you don't mind, would you like to...join me for tea?

[grandtheftbaby]

[ Michiru is fairly charmed as well, for slightly different reasons. ] That sounds delightful.

Lead the way.

--Oh, really? Yaaay!

[ She hadn't quite expected the girl to accept her offer without a second though, especially given how weird the situation is. But Soleil looks excited.

She offers the girl an arm. ]

Let's go. Hehe.

[ There must be a Starbucks cafe near the lobby. ]

[ Michiru accepts that arm (albeit daintily - more "holding onto it with her fingertips" than "looping an arm all the way through" - but that's part and parcel of being an Elegant Lady) and falls into step alongside Soleil. ] Meeting someone so chivalrous in an unfamiliar place is reassuring.

Oh, me? Really?

[ Soleil feels her face turn red, but otherwise doesn't look embarrassed. She smiles at Michiru as she leads the girl. ]

Well, I like to help out cute girls, but a part of that is to get their attention. I'm not so sure how chivalrous that is.

[grandtheftbaby]

[ Michiru laughs silently at that. Worrying that way could be seen as further proof of chivalry - or at least self-conscious acknowledgement of one's intentions - but she'll let it slide. ] And what will you do now that you have it?

[sunnymerc]

Um, hmm. I'd like you to tell me all about you!

[ She would be content with Michiru talking about anything or even being silent the whole time, but she does enjoy getting to know girls. ]

[grandtheftbaby]

Me?

[ Michiru blinks. ] There isn't much to say...

[sunnymerc]

...Huh? There's no way that can be true. I only know your name. There's got to be lots more to you than that.

[grandtheftbaby]

[ A stifled smile. ] Let's see, then.

I'm a violinist. I enjoy painting.

[ She runs her fingertips along the edges of her mirror. ] The scent of the ocean as it mingles with the wind is my favorite.

[ Is this the sort of thing you'd wanted to know? ]

[ That is certainly a romantic and mysterious response. ]

Oh. It's too bad there's no beach to walk along. I'd take you right to it.
