BAKERSTREET'S GOT TALENT

Show us what your characters can do!

1. Comment with your character. Do not leave your comment blank. They're now in a talent show, so write a scene of them showing off their abilities. It can be anything! Superpowers? Cooking? Doing complicated math in their head? The biggest gum bubbles? The sky is your limit.

[Revealing the bottle from the crinkled brown paper bag, brandishing it with the most sarcastic flourish a person can muster. Then she's wordlessly twisting the cap off, flicking it at whoever is watching before knocking back and downing the entire bottle like a champ.

It burns, it's messy... and when done? She takes a sloppy little bow, squinting blearily.]

[Taking a seat and flexing his fingers, waiting for it to be silent. Finally he adjusts his beanie and takes a measured breath. His hands find their familiar spot on the grand piano.

With one quick glance at the audience, he closes his eyes and begins one of his favorite pieces.]

Wow, daddy! You've improved!

[ Yes, Phoenix. Trucy is the only one in the audience cheering you on. She's on her feet, clapping enthusiastically and completely ignoring the cringing and giggling that everyone else seems to be doing. ]

[ No, really. Behold them. Trucy is literally waving a pair of baby blue bloomers with pink hearts around, grinning brightly for her beloved audience. ]

I can pull anything out of them! Anything!

[ To demonstrate, the young magician pulls out a rather old looking cell phone, and then some manila folders. Soon, she's tossing old evidence out here and there, a skate board, a pole... ]

[ Trucy just grins at Apollo, casually pushing the folders and papers over to him. Sorry, Polly, but she had to find something to practice with!

Her grin widens suddenly, though... ]

[ Maybe practice with your Daddy's stuff, not his precious evidence. >:( ]

Besides, what makes you think I'm not busy?! [ He's not. ] For all you know, I've got a load of defense requests to look through!

Oh, I'm sure you've got just a TON of them flooding in. That's why I caught you cleaning the toilet again a few hours ago, right?

[ Pulling her cell phone out of her magic panties, she hums an awfully cheery little tune as she scrolls for a moment, before presenting him with her 'evidence': photos of the poor man hunched over the toilet bowl, looking so determined at what he's doing. ]

I don't think the toilet has ever shined so much! You sure did a good job!

[ Apollo briefly weighs up his survival rate if he just snatches her phone and leaves, but it's probably not worth the wrath of his boss. ]

Absolutely no knives this time.

I knew you'd agree! You're the best, Apollo!

[ She's half tempted to make him wear a doofy cape and hat, but she won't because she's pushing her luck as it is with blackmail. So, she nods enthusiastically and drops her phone right back where it came from. ]

Oh, don't be silly. No knives! How do you feel about juggling tasers?

[whoops broke all my icon keywords She definitely won't be getting him in a stupid cape today. ]

...! T-Trucy! You don't have tasers!

[ What's that haunting yet beautiful sound? It's a mysterious young lady playing violin with the focused ease of an expert.

Her eyes are shut as her fingers move across the strings, and her hair seems to sway in an invisible breeze. If you stare too long, you may start to hallucinate sparkles on the edges of your vision.

Yet, for all that, the song seems sad. ]

[For once, a talent they don't need to see.

The melancholic lilt of the song strikes a pang in their heart- a personal thing, between Asriel and Flowey and Asgore and the whole Dreemurr family, the pain of a past no child should have to bear- and yet it rests heavy between three of them anyway.

So they sit in silence and listen.]

[ The song continues for quite some time, its player also wrapped up in the music, as if engulfed by a melancholy sea.

But at last the waves die down, and as the last few notes slide from the violin, her eyelashes flutter open and she notices her small (in more ways than one) audience. ] My.

[They open their eyes again, though the notion was unnecessary.]

I don't wanna be cheesy, but that was... really great.

Thank you. [ Michiru smiles. ] Are you fond of music?

Yeah. [Not like there was much else in the Arts that they could fully appreciate.]

Did you have a teacher?

That helps, doesn't it? [ She bends slightly, if still elegantly, so her eyes will be more on the child's level. ] But mentoring can only take someone so far. Music reveals us.
