Welcome to the Zoo, the universe's largest collection of sentient and sapient organisms. Showcasing rare specimens from many primitive and little-known worlds, you'll be amazed at the diversity of lifeforms on display.
How to play • Comment with your character. • Say which role(s) you would like to play. State any other preferences e.g. any options you're not open to. • Tag others and play!
SPECIMEN 01. Caged. This is your life now. Trapped inside an enclosure, to be stared at by passing visitors.
02. Feeding time. The zoo takes good care of its specimens. You're fed at regular intervals.
03. Show. Visitors to the zoo like to be entertained. You're trained to put on a show. Perform your tricks well and you'll be rewarded.
04. Experiment. You're the perfect subject for biological experimentation. Hope it's nothing too invasive.
05. Breeding program. The zoo has selected you to take part in its breeding program! This could be with another member of your own species, or a cross-species initiative.
06. Escape. Finally, you've broken free of your cage. Run while you still can.
KEEPER 07. Breaking in. You've just had a new specimen delivered, and it's your job to set up their enclosure and integrate them into the zoo.
08. Physical exam. Checking the health of your specimen is a routine procedure.
09. Taking care. It's important to look after your specimen. Make sure you feed them and clean their enclosure. Some species will also require grooming to stay in good health.
10. Training. Your specimen has been selected to feature in a show! All you have to do is train them to perform the necessary tricks.
11. Research. The zoo has a scientific mission too. You may want to conduct psychological, biological or physical tests on your specimen, to learn more about what makes them tick.
12. Hunt. Either tracking down new lifeforms to bring into the zoo, or chasing escaped specimens. All escapees must be caught and returned to the zoo.

[...oh, gosh, basically any variation of "yarne is stuck in plegia" sounds really, really horrible considering the future he comes from, haha. hmm. how dark do you want to take this? i kind of want to play yarne at the point where he's giving up and slowly accepting his new zoo animal life because, hey, it keeps him safe!]

Erika looked over the ledger that she had gotten over the new addition - a young girl that may or may not have amazing powers. The zoo enjoyed both - the younger ones were a hit with some of the kids and the powers were usually a big hit with the shows put on from time to time.
Ready to see the new specimen, she headed for the new cage ready to look over the new addition and welcome her in.
The specimen was not happy. In fact, she was kicking things seeing if she could knock something loose enough to either compromise her enclosure or at least turn a piece of it into a weapon, although she jumped to attention with an uneasy smile when Erika joined her in the cage. "...what's up?"
"Oh, well, hello there!" Erika replied. She adjusted her glasses a bit as she looked around at what her new specimen had been doing. "You know, ruining this place won't earn you any favors."
No, it didn't make sense, but Erika couldn't help but chuckle a bit. "I know, I know. But, on the bright side, you might only be here for a short time!" Erika pointed out. Approaching Umi, she brought out a clipboard with some papers on it. "Now, if you don't mind, I'd like to run a few tests!"
"If you prove to be a total failure... Two weeks, tops." Erika said, moving closer. "Of course, I do have permission to take home specimens who don't work out and find out why."
She would reach out to grab Umi's collar to bring her closer.
"Guess I'm gonna just sit here and complain so I can go home then. Sorry." Not sorry. Umi was attempting another step back when Erika managed to nab her collar, and she planted her feet.
"Oh, come now." Erika uttered, "you don't have to be like this!" Erika gave Umi a tug, trying to pull her closer. "While I can't let you go, I can make your time here comfortable..."
"Hey, now, you're the one fighting me!" Erika protested. "You're just lucky you got the sane observer - some here would have loved to tear you out of this outfit! I'm one in preserving one's integrity."
She does let go of Umi's collar, intending on just taking her hand to pull her closer.
Hand holding, now that's at least a sane and reasonable way to guide someone! Umi huffed and puffed her cheeks out, pouting for a moment. "You'd fight too if you were in my shoes. Who wouldn't?"
Obviously? "But sure, I'll play along just so some psycho doesn't take your place."
"Yes. Yes, I would." Erika admitted. "Then again, I doubt anyone would go out of their way to help me..." Seems like she might need a good push to get going in the right direction.
With Umi a little more willing, Erika began to look Umi over, taking quick notes as she did...
"Well, my parents, but..." Erika said, a little nervous over that topic. "I don't think they'd approve..."
No, they wouldn't. She sighed a bit before she tried to take Umi's hand again, intending on spinning her around. "Tell me, would you be more willing if I could take you somewhere a little less... Demeaning?"
"You're probably important to them... still, no matter what choices you've made. At least I'd hope so. I know... not everyone has supportive parents..." Her experiences with her and her friends' parents are decidedly positive.
She tilted her head. "Yes, absolutely more cooperative if you allow me to feel like a human being instead of a chimp on display."
