Of all the places in this world, there's nowhere worse you could be than where you are now. You're in hell - metaphorically or literally - and laying down and just dying seems more and more like the valid action to take. But you can't go any lower and death could be a no escape. There's only one thing keeping you from being a jaded, broken husk: you've fallen in love with someone who shares this fate. It's a love so different than the norm, that only those who've known this desolation can fathom. Perhaps they give you hope, they're an innocent worth keeping safe, they showed you unexpected kindness, or they're simply something to cling to. No matter what, you'll protect them and you wouldn't dream of leaving this place without them. They will leave, though...

...even if you don't.

[Maybe Michael tries to save Dean? Or perhaps they are both sealed in the cage? Like instead of Adam it was Dean at the end when they fell into the pit?]

Dean came too slowly, his body ached and his head felt like he'd been beaten one to many times. He opened his eyes and looked around. It was dark...not pitch but more like twilight. He could hear the sound of something else moving and slowly sat up. "Sam?" He whispered into the darkness. "Bobby?"

The last thing he remembered was fighting with Michael against Lucifer/Sam. They were in the cemetery and had somehow managed to gain control over their respective archangels and jumping into the pit together. Of course they hadn't wanted too but in the end the fate of the universe meant more than their lives. So they had jumped together.

Was this the cage? Is that where he was now? The floor was cold under his hands but it didn't feel like metal in the strictest sense. It was hard...maybe like concrete or something similar. "Who's there?" He calls out once more as he stands up and tries to make out the shapes in the dark.

"Never underestimate a Winchester," a familiar voice rang out through the darkness but even though it belonged to John Winchester sometime ago, it was a certain archangel that spoke instead. "And we had the extremely bad luck of underestimating two."

Who would've thought two worthless hunters would be able to over power the first archangel and the devil himself. Not them that was for sure but happen it did and being trapped within his brother's cage wasn't something Michael had been expecting.

"Michael." Dean whispered taking a step back. Yeah pissed off archangels weren't something to fuck around with. And he was pretty sure two were inside the cage. "Where are Lucifer and Sam?" Dean asked because he hadn't heard or seen anything else moving in the darkness. How big was this place anyway. Dean took a step back and then another carefully. He moved slowly so as to not fall as he looked for the walls of the cage. If he could find the edge maybe he could figure out a way to get out. After all..the cage was meant to hold Lucifer not a human. Perhaps it had an escape hatch like Purgatory did.

"More than likely on the other side of the cage having the same heart-to-heart we're about to have." The much older being stated as he calmly continued to walk towards his former vessel.

"How did you do it Dean? How did you find out about the keys to this place?" Michael asked with confusion clearly written across his face. "I didn't tell you, Lucifer didn't know until before we all ended up inside, Raphael knows better than to tell you without my permission and Gabriel's dead."

Dean was silent as he continued stepping back. Michael was deceptively calm...he had a feeling it was all a facade and he was in for it. Of course he wasn't expecting to hit the wall so quickly and it stunned him. He could vaguely make out the shapes of the being before him as he got closer. The closer he came to the hunter the more detail of Michael he could see.

"Why should I tell you?" Dean asked. "Maybe we read it in a book."

"Because maybe it'll help me to figure a way out of here, unless you want your brother and yourself to be stuck down here in Hell for the rest of eternity." He pointed out with a shrug before continuing. "This place was made to restrain the soul of an archangel, one of the most powerful being in the universe, what do you think will become of a much lesser soul especially a mortal one?"

"I don't particularly believe you...seeing as you coerced me into saying yes in the first place. If we have to suffer in order for you and Lucifer to stay here then I'll gladly do so." He didn't like it but he wasn't going to risk setting them free just so he could get out.
