it's a cold day...wherever you are. brrrrr. you are outside, walking around (maybe holiday shopping, or portal jumping, or maybe you clicked a weird pen or phone booth button and landed here. whatever the case, you are now outside a quaint little cafe in New York, right by Central Park, on snowy, December morning. did I mention that it's cold? you walk into the cafe and immediately feel the warmth of the room. there's a fireplace on each side of the little shop, which helps un-nip the frost on your nose. the baristas at the counter great you kindly, and tell you to have a seat and they will send over one of their servers to take your order.

stay a while?

instructions:
1.leave  a comment (blank or otherwise) with your character's name and canon in the subject. they have entered the cafe. they can leave or stay or even sit down and read a book if they have one on hand. whatever your preference.
2. people respond with their characters meeting others inside the cafe. Whether they're working there, or also just enjoying the day. (And taking advantage of the free wifi)

[ she's here for cat — which sounds rather like a novel up for the not at all shocking award — with her hands full and her ponytail in full motion, it seems unlikely she'll ever stop. of course, that's when she does. she sees him in passing, out of the corner of her eye and without much pretense. a head turn, followed by a secondary gesture for posterity. ]

[ one hand captures the cup holder, the other reaching to push her glasses further along the bridge of her nose. the unstoppable force that is kara danvers halts for the immovable object that is lex luthor — there's something poetic about it, even if the idea isn't mutual. ]

[ since the party, she's found an atypical interest in lex luthor. he's — different, where philanthropists are considered. she's witnessed him rubbing elbows with maxwell lord, but their conversations are oftentimes curt and without any real feeling ( on both parts. she's listened. it's evasive, she knows. ) — anyone who shares her disinterest in lord is a friend of hers, kara once learned. ]

[It's all an elaborate sort of rouse, set up to trick himself. Matt's attempting to play at normalcy in the wake of The Hand and the end of his short lived firm. Apologize, he'd been told. The list maybe wasn't small but it was daunting, but if he can do this, then maybe he can re-assemble the pieces to get an actual life back. Manhattan real estate isn't cheap. Money from Elektra won't last forever.

The first step in trying to man up is gaining courage. Or bravado. It's possibly too early to drink so the next best thing is coffee, and Matt lets his memory and his senses lead him to a place along the way. In and out, that's the plan. No loitering. But isn't life just the funniest thing. Matt be blind but he knows people, people who make impressions, and some people just have tell tale signs. Things about them that Matt will never miss. Frank Castle, for example, smells like gunpowder and old blood, and the sound of his breathing is affected by a nose that Matt is pretty sure has seen better days. Maybe he doesn't need coffee, but he doesn't want to turn on his heel and leave. It looks awkward and feels ... Well. Cowardly. He can feign ignorance instead.]

Looking around the shop, Kit looked a bit desperate for a place to sit. She leaned heavily on her crutches, surprisingly able bodied for someone missing her right leg from just above her knee, but still, she was tired. The young woman at the counter agreed to bring her tea over when she found a seat, but that was proving to be a bit harder than she'd anticipated.

There was one open seat by a guy that was eying her like a piece of meat, and she would sooner sit on the floor than go over there. Crud, he looked like he was going to come over if she didn't find a spot... There! There was a woman sitting alone at a table with a second chair and Kit was quick to head in that direction, just hoping that she wasn't waiting for someone.

"Excuse me? Are you waiting for someone?" She really did not want to get into a fight with that creepy guy today, cursing someone was always so tiring... "Could I use the chair until they get here if you are?"

Kit herself seemed to be an average enough looking woman, maybe about 25, shoulder length red hair, honey brown eyes, wearing simple jeans and a red top... Small fangs, emotive fox ears, six tails... wait what? The last two seem to be just a trick of the light? Because they're gone in the blink of an eye.

[For anyone who didn't know Honey Lemon personally would probably not recognize her in her barista garb: a plain black t-shirt with the coffee's logo on the front, a pair jeans with an apron tied around her waist while pink sneakers replace her platform heels. The only things that were retained from her everyday appearance in school were the bun she wears in her hair sometimes and her bright pink glasses. She's been the one who has been refiling Dave's coffee for the past couple of hours now, her curiosity about what he was working on grew each time she passes by his table, dying to ask about his notes but she could see that he was busy. In her next trip to his "work station" though, she finally spoke up after pouring more coffee into his cup, her tone cheery and light.] Gosh.
