You and I will always be unfinished business...
forbidden love
You & I will always be
unfinished business
Relationship Type (optional)
1. Family - you're keeping it all in the family, literally.
2. Balance of Power - the other person has a higher status than you somehow.
3. Position - your position doesn't allow for you to have such compromising emotions.
4. Logistics - love from you may be impossible, dangerous...or even deadly.
5. Cheating - you're both having an affair together.
6. Caught in the middle - it's nothing you've done, but the feud going on between those you're both close to keeping you apart.
7. Other - some other type of relationship we've forgot? Want to combine? Go right on ahead!
Scenes
Sweet
1. Can't deny it - you've tried to run from your feelings for so long and you can't do it anymore. It's time that you show the object of your affection exactly how you feel. Hopefully you don't lose everything in the process!
2. First time - it's your first time making love together. Is it awkward? Do you go all out or is it spur of the moment?
3. Accidental - you didn't actually mean to confess or kiss. They overheard you or it was an accidental kiss. Maybe you were just really drunk and let it slip!
4. Close as can be - you just want to make love and you've found a spot where it's just you and your partner, however you want it to be.
5. Happily ever after - somehow, you've made it work and you're both happy together, even if it meant you had to run away together.
6. Other - is there another scene you'd like to play out? Want to combine something? Do it here!
Angst
1. Conflict - you've just had a fight with your lover over your relationship or how you handle it. Can you find it in yourselves to forgive each other?
2. Cheated - your lover has cheated on you and you need to confront them about their reasons why and if you can work it out.
3. Found out - you've been found out by someone close to you and they're less than thrilled with your relationship.
4. Disgust - though they play along with it, they're secretly disgusted by the relationship they have with you and it finally comes out into the light.
5. Guilt - one of you is feeling guilty over your relationship, knowing it can never be truly normal or more than a secret.
6. Other - is there another scene you'd like to play out? Want to combine something? Do it here!
Comfort
1. Soothing touch - what better way to sooth your lover than to make love to them and show them that no matter what other people say, you're not going anywhere.
2. Fight for you - whoever has found out about your relationship is trying to hurt your lover and you're not going to let them.
3. Won't let you go - you need your lover to realize that you won't let them go, no matter what.
4. Back together - you broke up for a bit, but whatever it is between you two, you can't stay apart.
5. Injured - your lover was injured because of your relationship and it's time to patch them up.
6. Other - is there another scene you'd like to play out? Want to combine something? Do it here!
Twisted
1. Forced - you know your partner isn't interested in you like this, but you keep them going along with the relationship no matter what. Coercion, blackmail, whatever it takes.
2. Won't take no - their lips might say no, but you're not listening.
3. Control - you've given them some kind of potion to get your love interest to love you in return and they have to do whatever you say.
4. Recorded - you're not really interested in this forbidden love affair, but you must do it or you'll face some tough consequences.
5. Insult - you're cornered by those who disapprove of your relationship, hearing how filthy you are.
6. Other - is there another scene you'd like to play out? Want to combine something? Do it here!
Ending
1. Left alone - you woke up to your lover trying to slip away in the night because of the strain of the relationship. Do you let them go or try and fight for it?
2. Torn apart - others are keeping you apart after they found out about your relationship, giving you only minimal contact. What do you do?
3. Ending fight - the argument has turned dirty and ends with one of you storming out.
4. Parting ways - both of you have decided to part ways. It's just so much easier.
5. Always love you - though you'll always love each other, maybe it's time the relationship goes back to being strictly platonic. It would be easier... or maybe that's just how one of you feels.
6. Other - is there another scene you'd like to play out? Want to combine something? Do it here!

[ As of late, things had been rocky. They'd been that way for days now, nearly a week at least. It felt like a wall was slowly but steadily building itself up between them and Elena couldn't figure out why. While she preferred that Nate speak up with what was on his mind, just spit out what was bothering him and making him seem more quieter than usual, more restless and even agitated, words were hard.
He also had the worst tendency ever to attempt at humor when some things got too serious for him.
There were some days when they communicated through touch, through physical affection, intimacy. It would work in getting the message across; all would seem right in the world again. Until the next time when she could feel him pulling away. A temporary fix, like a fresh band-aid that got wet too many times and curled away from the wound.
It was in the dead of night that Elena came awake. She knew she was alone in the large bed when she didn't feel his weight dipping his side of the mattress or his body heat warming her back or her side. Some nights she woke to find him in the living room flipping through the channels and looking exhausted, while other nights he was in the room they'd set up as her office, hunched over the desk and a book. His restlessness carried on through the night, it seemed, taking him further and further away from her each time.
'Why do you fight sleep so much?' she had asked him, always wondered to herself. If he was so tired then the only remedy for that was to go back to bed. Logically.
Thinking he was probably lounging on the couch with heavy eyes, remote in hand, Elena pushed herself up and scrubbed at the side of her face with a hand. She sighed, blankets thrown aside. Plucking up her robe she shrugged it on and went out to fetch him, and this time something was different.
It was dark. No flickering lights or color from the television casting shadows against the wall. No low volume of voices or music from a cheesy late night Western. Even the bathroom was empty and dark.
Something in her gut twisted, sending the feeling up to tighten in her chest. A trickle of panic running cold down her spine. Had he stepped out? He was probably just asleep on the couch, had turned off the television and passed out.
Elena hoped so.
No, what she found when she turned on a nearby lamp nearly knocked the wind out of her: the house was empty and otherwise silent with the tick-tick-tick of the wall clock breaking it with each passing second. Nate was nowhere to be found, and Elena searched the entire house (found his keys and wallet mysteriously gone from the dresser top), every room it came with, including going out onto the back deck, the wood chilly under her bare feet as it was late fall. Naturally she panicked, rang up Sully a couple of hours later despite the late hour (she'd only given it a few hours thinking he had run to a 24/7 store), tried to call Nate's cell phone, which of course went straight to voicemail.
It was like he hadn't wished to be found. Like he was avoiding her or was avoiding something. What could he possibly be thinking? Who just got up and left at four in the damn morning without saying anything? Nathan Drake clearly.
Twenty-four hours was the bare minimum before a missing persons was issued to the public. Elena wouldn't take it that far. Instead she stayed home from work for the first day, made some calls (receiving zero answers much to her frustration), tidied a bit, paced, scoured her office for any possible hint as to why Nate would randomly take off without leaving a note. Second day was another day to spend at the house and pace some more. By then she was the one who was restless and agitated, her worry mounting with each hour that passed and he didn't check in. Third day was the day she went in to work, phone within reach when and if he decided to call.
The only one to call was Sully, the call meant to calm her, to talk over what the hell Nate was thinking. It surprised her that Nate had also kept Sully in the dark, the pair had always been close, like father and son. She had paced then as well while on the phone with him.
Deciding to leave work early, a little too early to her boss's displeasure despite her proclaiming she wasn't feeling well, lying that it was that time of the month (most male bosses never argued with a woman on that claim), Elena made a small stop at the store for a bag of groceries before heading home. She was too lost in thought to notice that the door was already unlocked even as she fit her key inside and turned to unlock it and let herself in— and stopped dead in her tracks. ]
I'M SORRY I MADE YOU WAIT SO LONG FOR SOMETHING COMPARATIVELY SHORT I WAS STUCK
But in the days and hours he's been gone, hardly any of that time was spent sleeping. Running and shooting took up a sizable portion of it, hiding a little more. Treating his bullet wound had taken a little less time but hurt a hell of a lot more. It's just a graze, though, he didn't really get shot, he's fine. He'll be fine. Except a curtain of darkness descends upon him about half a second after he sits down for a breather, and when he opens his eyes, Elena is standing across the room, staring at him in shock and/or horror.
Damn open layout. If they at least had a wall between them, he'd have gotten a few extra seconds to compose himself.]
Hey.
[He lifts an arm in a lazy wave and winces—fuck, that hurts. Why does it hurt? The answer comes when he looks down at his shoulder. Oh, great, breakthrough bleeding, just what he needed. That won't freak her out more.]
Wow who are you? Don't think I've ever met you before
Elena has to readjust her grip on the bags to stop herself from dropping a bunch of produce onto the ground. She stares at him, still, mouth hanging open like she'd been about to say something else, disbelief written across her face, shock keeping her words trapped in her throat. ] I... I don't know what to say right now.
[ How can he sit there and act so casual? Act like he hadn't disappeared for a few days, not one word to anyone.
The groceries get dropped on the counter, keys thrown down on a loud clatter of metal on stone. ]
...are you bleeding? Jesus Christ, Nate.
[ Too many emotions. Jumbled words. Where does she start?
Her eyes stay to his shoulder where she stares across at the bright red blooming fresh through his shirt. A dish towel gets snapped up from the handle of the stove on the way, her feet automatically walking her over to him. ]
This is a blast from the past
I'm fine, it's not a big deal.
[She's not going to agree, but dammit, it's not. He's been shot before, actually shot. That was a problem; this is an inconvenience. As she approaches with the towel, he sits up straight and endeavors to look calm and alert.
Not cleaner, though. There's nothing he can do about that.]
S'what I do
Elena drops down on the couch next to him instead, looking at the but he's bleeding from before pressing the cloth over it. She makes sure to add pressure on purpose-- she's not impressed with him. But she's keeping up a calm front surprisingly well. ]
So it's not a big deal that you disappeared for almost a week? It's not a big deal that you didn't think to leave me a note or at least tell Sully?
[ Her hand presses down, jaw setting. Elena doesn't look at him, she looks at her hand and the cloth on his arm. ]

[Only a few days. And maybe that's missing her point, but there's no need for her to exaggerate his sins. All right, so he should have said something before he left, but he knew she wouldn't want him to go and he'd been certain he could make it home by that afternoon. Oops.
His hand comes up beside her on the towel, not to touch it but to help press down. It does help, but then it wasn't that bad to start with.]
I didn't mean to be gone so long. I thought I'd be back sooner.

Why?
[ As soon as he touches, she draws away. There's quite a bit of filth on him she's noticing, studying his face. ]
Where did you go?
[ #naggingwife ]

[He knows how that's going to go over. But it's the truth, dammit. He hadn't known he'd end up away for so long.
Would he still have gone? Probably. But she didn't ask.]
A guy I know texted me in the middle of the night. He thought he had a lead on something I've been chasing down. I figured I'd be back in a few hours.
[Things...hadn't gone that way.]

[ The sarcasm drips from her voice. Elena could probably fill a cup with it. ]
Glad to know neither of us was that important enough...
[ Her words trailed. She should shove him to the shower and lock herself in the office for the rest of the day. Call her friends, go out for drinks. He had no idea just how worried they'd been.
Elena turns away, hands curling into fists over her lap. Somehow this shouldn't have come as a surprise, he'd been pulling away from her for a while now. ]

Would you quit with the passive-aggressiveness?
[He loves her, but god, that is one of her most irritating character flaws. For a journalist, she can be pretty lousy about communication.]
It had nothing to do with not being important. I didn't think I would be gone long enough for you to need a note, and then I had—phone problems.
[The problem is there's a bullet hole in his phone.]
