Some things don't need explanations. Chicken wings. Wonderful weather. Guilty pleasures like Michael Bay movies. This meme is one of those things. It's simple: one character is in another's lap, and eventually the two get hot and heavy. Whether it's a friend sitting on a lap because there's no room, couples cuddling, or a stripper giving a lap dance, one thing will lead to another...after all, the loss of personal space can certainly set actions (and more) in motion.

1. Innocent Lap Sitting: It's just a friendly gesture. Maybe you're enjoying a movie or a dinner together. Nothing wrong with that!
2. Romantic Canoodling: You two are spending some time together, and there's no way to be closer than to snuggle up in your lover's lap.
3. Out of Necessity: No more room on the bench, in the booth, or on the couch? There's a place on their lap.
4. Amateur Lap Dance: Just something sexy between lovers. Or maybe more silly than sexy.
5. Professional Lap Dance: Better break out the ones. This lap dance will cost you.
6. Dare: Nobody ever thought you'd get this close and personal, so they pushed you into doing it.

[ Evelyn maintained an air of collected calm in spite of the elbow digging into her side, courtesy of her older brother. Unwilling to part with his brandy all Jonathan would do was give her a look that said something along the lines of pissing blimey, entertain me or I will make your evening a living Hell, which rightly roused an indignant slap to his arm and made her all the more conscious of the heat in the room.

Stifling air with a thickness that choked, cigarette smoke and all manner of alcohols, she had originally thought it prudent to attend one of the many fêtes her brother's "friends" held in the downtown, now that the dig season was over and they were back in London for the abominable grey weather that plagued it all other times of the year. There is something oddly reassuring about the anonymity of parties such as this, ones which permit her to exercise her sociability to the fullest extent (liquor might help, if she trusted her tolerance enough to try it beyond a single drink). Meeting strangers is par for the course in her profession, it stands to reason it should be easier in an informal atmosphere.

There is a very special place in the afterlife for rowdy party-goers having a laugh in confined spaces, however, for as Evelyn excuses herself from Jonathan's company to visit the bar counter for a second dose of liquid courage one of the gentlemen - pin-striped to the gills and utterly incapable of controlling his basic motor functions - flails backward in the midst of a tremendous story and knocks into her. The contact is startling and sends her careening into one of the low sofas dotting the landscape, landing on something that is decidedly not a down cushion.

[It was hard to keep from relaxing back against the warm chest behind him the moment he let his attention wander. They were more or less trapped near the middle of the bus, with other passengers surrounding them, but it was par for the course that other people would completely overlook the two boys.

When an older lady had gotten on the bus, Kuroko had smoothly made room for her by giving up his seat, only to be jostled into Mayuzumi's lap by an overly large bag. Really, it had been easier to just stay where he'd landed.

Arthur was over her apartment and they were snuggled up on the couch watching a movie. Her legs were over his lap as she leaned against him.

This was all very new but it was nice. Really nice. She never pictured Arthur as someone who would sit and relax for any length of time, but it turned out when he wasn't on a job, he seemed pretty content to just hang out with her.
