BFFs

unusual bffs

Nothing in the world is too much to do for this person. They're your best friend in the whole world!

...somehow. Even though you may not always be on the same page when it comes to your bestie status. Even though you make the Odd Couple look normal. You've always got their back, and they've got yours, and they're always ready for an adventure - or for you to drag them on one.

  • Comment with your character.
  • Reply to others. Remember, the crazier, the better! Crossover, crosswhatever, adopted or assumed cr. Just get your character a weird bromance.
  • Thread: have girl/guytime, stand up for or protect your friend, kick their ass if they're being a jerk, cheer them up, go on an epic quest, play video games, teach them a skill, make flower crowns, idec. Have fun and be cutiepies.

Cold had been dropped off in Star City, choosing to stick around with Sara for a bit while Mick and the others made their way back to Central City. It seems in the end it had been more of a good decision to stick around because the news of Laurels death crushed Sara. They'd gotten close on the Waverider, nearly died together a time or two. He wasn't the greatest at handling someone else's grief over losing someone they love, but he was a shoulder for her to cry on to the best of his ability. He was glad he stuck around for her. And more so, while he was here, he'd have to at least check in on Oliver.

Once Sara wanted her space and time to mourn, Len made his way to Oliver's loft. He rings the bell and waits, choosing not to just let himself into the apartment this time. Assuming Oliver was home anyway. Otherwise he might have to go let himself into his new lair he'd found before leaving on his timey-wimey-future-saving-mission.

He doesn't want to see anyone. Not the faces of the team, the people he'd failed. He'd even turned Barry away, telling him that what he needed was to be alone. Oliver had dealt with grief before, he'd lost so many people in the last few years it was getting hard to count the bodies. But this was Laurel.

Laurel was dead.

His mind keeps tripping over that detail, like it's something he's going to possibly forget. The small sounds she made as she died. The utter devastation on Quinten's face.

Oliver can't be around people right now. But he opens the door all the same, if only to tell them to go away.

"Len."

"Ollie." He glances past the vigilante to what he can see of the loft from the door, then focuses back on Oliver.

"Try not to look so happy to see me." Though he knows exactly why that is. Not only because he's Oliver, but because of what happened with Laurel. Perhaps not the most sensitive of moves, but Len never claimed to be anything close to that word. It's a distraction in any case, and Oliver looks like he could use one of those, even if he'd rather be alone. And, just to be the ass that he is, he's not even going to ask if he can come in, he's going to let himself in. Unless Oliver stops him anyway.

Len is likely the only person that Oliver wouldn't actively stop from walking into the loft. He's tired. He's so damned tired. Another loved one he couldn't save, another loved one that he has to bury. "I wasn't exactly planning on company."

Oliver shuts the door behind him, making sure the lock is secure. "The Waverider taking a detour?"

"I figured you weren't." He quips, giving Oliver some insight to the fact he knows whats up. "All the more reason for me to drop by. "

He drops down onto the couch and puts his feet up. Considering what happened, Oliver shouldn't be alone even if Oliver thinks he wants to be.

"Funny thing about time-travel, we finished the mission and went back to the nearest point from when we left. So to you, we haven't been gone long."

It's like the man is physically incapable of sitting like a normal human being. "Len. Now really isn't.." He's halfway through trying to come up with some vague reason why the thief should go, why he should be anywhere else but with him when his mind catches up to the rest of what Snart had said.

Finished the mission. "You finished it? Savage?" Maybe he can steer the conversation away from Laurel at least for a few moments.

The criminal raises a hand to stop any excuses the Vigilante might come up with. He doesn't need to tell Oliver he's not going anywhere.

"How bout a few beers first and I can tell you about it if you want." The suggestion is less than subtle, especially with the look he's giving the Arrow. One that is knowing and aware of the fact Oliver is suffering and could use a friend even if he wants to be alone.

For the briefest of moments there's almost something akin to gratitude in his expression as Oliver turns towards the kitchen. They don't have to talk about what went wrong, about how he'd failed the team, about how he'd watched Laurel die and he'd been utterly helpless to stop it.

So he returns from the kitchen with a six pack in hand, offering one over to Len as he opts to sit beside him this time. "So you saved the world."

Good. While he might not have seen the good that Barry so steadfastly believed in, Ollie knew there was strength there, something more than your garden variety criminal. Potential to become so much more.

Len is grateful for the cold beer and twists the top off for a swing. He'll give a shrug.

"I helped." He died to save everyone so they could finish what they set out to do without interruptions and of their own free will. But he's not going to touch on that cause the whole fact of how he's still alive now still boggles his mind. So he's not thinking about it. Not looking a gift horse in the mouth. He's alive. They won. The future is safe. That's what matters.

"I still don't want to hear that H-word when referring to me." Even if everyone on the team had said it because of the sacrifice he made. It left such a weird, bitter taste in his mouth every time. In fact thinking about it makes him take a longer swig as if washing his mouth out.

"I know what happened Oliver." He knows that Laurel died while Sara was away with them, he knows how bad it's been for her since she came back.

"Sara and I have been spending a lot of time together on the Waverider so when we came back, I stuck around for her." A look to Oliver, "So now, I'm going to stick around for you because I know you're going to be a stubborn ass about this."

Oliver manages a ghost of a smile, holding up a hand at the warning not to call him a hero. "Wouldn't dream of it."

Then Len has to go and bring up why he's here and his expression immediately shutters. He can't talk about this. He's going to kill the man who took her, he's going to tear down the organization and burn it to ash. It won't bring Laurel back, it won't make things right but he has to do something.

"Go back to Sara. Take care of her."

Len frowns softly as he realizes maybe it was a bit too soon to admit what he knows. Or the fact that he and Sara had become close friends on their journey. It wasn't something he wanted to keep from Oliver though.

"Can't do that." He sets his beer down and moves closer to Oliver.

"Sara kicked me out because she wanted some time alone." Being cooped up on the waverider with everyone for months can do that to someone. She needed some time. He didn't doubt Oliver did too, but he was already punishing himself. He needed a friend right now.

"And she told me to come see you." Of course with the idea that he might take care of Oliver, because she knows Ollie won't take care of himself until someone makes him. Or he runs away from everything.

Oliver goes utterly rigid when Len moves to sit closer. Not in anticipation of a blow, but in anticipation of being close to anyone right now. Since Laurel had been stabbed he'd stuffed everything down, held it together because the rest of the team needed him to. He had to be the strong one, had to stay in control when all he wanted to do was collapse and grieve for her.

She had loved him and he couldn't even give her that in the end.

"Help me find him. Help me kill him. Or just go. I can't.." he sucks in a ragged breath, fighting to keep his voice from breaking. One touch would shatter him completely and while Len was one of the few people he could trust with something so raw, neither of them handles emotion well.

Tommy would understand, he hopes. He has to break his promise, has to break his vow not to kill. But this was for Laurel and they had both loved her in their own way and now Oliver was alone. They were both gone because he couldn't save them.

Oliver scrubs at his face. "I'm going to kill him."

Len's not exactly good at this sort of thing. When it came to his sister it came naturally, he didn't even have to think twice about it, but with anyone else, especially another guy, it was always awkward. He lifts a hand, rubbing his fingers together as he hesitates before he just reaches over to place it on Oliver's shoulder in a sign of comfort. He gives him a light squeeze to show that he's there and he's not alone and that he's listening.

"I'll help you, but not till you're able to heal and pull yourself together. I'm not letting you go and get yourself killed. That's definitely not what Laurel or any of us would want." He shrugs, "besides, Sara would kill me."

He shouldn't need this. He shouldn't need the weight of that hand on his shoulder reminding him that he isn't alone. That he isn't drowning. Slowly the tension begins to slide out of his shoulders and Oliver sags forward, head in his hands. "I failed her. I failed all of them."

So many mistakes. Enough buried friends that he's starting to lose count.

"I should have been able to stop it. To save her. To at least give her what she needed to hear before.." he makes a hard sound, ruthlessly shoving his emotions back under control.

Len sighs softly, squeezing Ollie's shoulder before pulling his hand back. He's not exactly prepared if Oliver starts to cry, it's not something he thought he'd ever see, but he'll be here for him anyway. He folds his hands in his lap, resolving to be the rock and the strength Oliver needs right now. That calm and cool persona acting as a bit of driftwood in what has to be stormy seas threatening to swallow the Vigilante whole with grief and vengence.

"Oliver. I need you to do something, and I know this is probably the hardest thing I'd ever ask you to do." He tilts his head, looking at him with sure, blue eyes.

"You need to stop blaming yourself for this, for everything that goes wrong. You and your team did all that you could. This thing is beyond all of you and you are all fighting as hard as you can. Laurel did too. This is not your fault. You didn't fail her or anyone else. You may have lost Laurel but the rest of your team is safe. The city is still standing and you still have a chance to figure this out. If you go into any of this without a clear head, Laurel's death will be for nothing. She gave all of you the chance you need to defeat him. Do not waste it."

He shrugs, "I didn't know Laurel. But I doubt she'd want you beating yourself to death over hers. She'd want you to pick yourself up and keeping fighting. To win this."

He studies the other a moment, "Allow yourself to grieve. To feel the loss but then heal, learn from it. Don't let it be in vain."

Oliver won't shed tears. If any will be shed on Laurel's behalf, it will be quietly and in private. Just as he'd mourned Tommy. Alone.

Sara had been right to send Len to him. No one else could get through, but Snart understood him, understood what he needed. Ollie needed strength to lean on, enough to pull himself back together and finish the job. Laurel would want him to continue fighting so that's exactly what he's going to do.

He could continue on. For her and for the rest of the team. Len was right. He had to keep moving forward to save his city and the people living there.

The vigilante leans to kiss him. The best way he knows to thank him with touch rather than the words that he's never been good with. "I'm going to take a shower and get some sleep."

"Stay. Please." They don't have to have sex. As a matter of fact, he's likely too exhausted to really consider sex, but resting in the arms of someone he trusted would go miles towards helping him find his center again.
