[ There were worse ways to wake up than falling over a gurney bare assed still smelling like bacta and head still under the deluge of enough painkillers to down a bantha. Finn knew this even as he spent the next few days being briefed while shivering under a blanket that was as itchy as it was offensively orange. All the while he spent his time in convalescence in between giving awkwardly spaced out then monotously rehearsed briefings on everything he knew about the First Order to a room full of what was left of the Resistance. Through it all, at the forefront of his thoughts, was one name: Rey. Where was Rey? Was she okay? When would he see her again? Some of the triage medics giggled and teased him when he looked lost in thought. Poe made it his mission in life to keep his mind off things with lessons in binary and awkward mess hall meals with the other pilots.

Then the most impossible most wished for thing finally happened: D'Qar airbase received a hail that a YT-1300 Corellian light freighter requested to land on their airstrip. A freighter so antiquated that even Finn knew it could be the one and only Millennium Falcon. With a slap on the back from Poe that sent a jolt of tension up his scarred spine that felt more like a blessing, Finn went racing out towards the air field.

He was all pins and needles as he stood in front of the lowering ramp. Hands clenching and unclenching with fingers dancing over his sweating palms as he neck craned to see that one face through the hydraulic steam. ]

[ They're still trying to figure it out, how to get Barry back. It's another one of those scenarios that's completely new to Kara—like pretty much everything revolving around a superhero from another universe is. But it's nice, really nice, to not always have to focus on world-saving or fighting bad guys (in this case, girls). It's the quiet moments she's been getting to spend with Barry where she realizes they have more in common than just, you know, the superpowers and fighting for the side of good and all. They're actually a lot alike—which, in some cases, could be a bad thing. In this case, it makes her feel a little less alone. It makes her feel a little less... alien.

Still, that's one thing she has to be careful about. Barry might be the fastest man alive (or so he keeps saying) and his rate of healing almost rivals hers, but in her over-enthusiasm she's come awfully close to bruising him severely at least a small handful of times. And so now, she's almost laser-focused on doing the exact opposite, which means she's keeping him at arm's length for the time being.

And right now, that involves keeping a respectful distance between them on the couch in her apartment—for more reasons than one. Alex is still out of town, so she doesn't have to worry about her sister walking in on her with a strange guy in her apartment—but Barry is crashing here, at least until they manage to find a way to get him back to Central City. And maybe it's because this is the quietest moment they've had since he's arrived, but she's increasingly, almost painfully conscious of his proximity to her now, to the point where she finds herself sneaking glances at him from behind her glasses. Even in profile, he looks... nice. Wait. No. Focus, Kara. You're missing The Walking Dead. ]

You, uh, sure you don't want anything else? [ The demolished remains of a few pizzas lay scattered on the coffee table in front of them. At least she hadn't had to feel self-conscious about her appetite. ]

Roxy had called work to take a few more days off. She needed to spend as much time with Barry as she could. They had a nice dinner together, and talked for hours about the most random things. Once back to her hotel she can't stop the blush from her cheeks.

"Do you want to come up?" It seems inevitable, being soulmates and all, but that doesn't help her nerves. The first time with the man she's supposed to be with forever.
