Ancient Rome

Your character is now in Ancient Rome! Most famous city of the Ancient Western world. All roads lead there and now they're here too. Roll the RNG and find out what your character is up to! Or don't and just pick your own, I don't care. No one will know.
1. Colosseum Games: Gladiator matches! Fights to the death! Chariot races! Naval Battles! Wild animal fights! Are you there to watch and cheer on your favorite fighter? Or are you one of the attractions, fighting or racing for the crowd's approval?
2. Senate: Debate with your fellow Senators about the fate and laws of the Finest City in the World. Democracy in action! Okay not really. Or is there a dictator that needs a good stabbing? A conspiracy to concoct? Friends, Romans, Countrymen! Lend me your ears! Literally or not
3. Party: After a long day of whatever it was you were doing, everyone likes a good party to relax, right? Bring on the slaves with the wine and food! Eat, drink and be merry! There might even be an orgy around here somewhere, and don't forget to visit the Vomitorium if you get too full. (Or not.)
4. War: You fight for the Emperor, and the Emperor wants more lands added to the Empire! See foreign lands, meet interesting people! And then kill them and subjugate them under Roman rule. But hey, they're getting roads and civilization out of the deal so it's all good, right?
5. Roman Provinces: You live in one of the provinces, not in the city itself. Maybe you were conquered recently, or maybe you've gotten used to this whole Being Roman thing and you like having roads and aqueducts and all that around. And really, the taxes aren't so bad, right?
6. Slave Market: Out shopping for a new addition to your household? Or maybe you're about to go on the auction block, waiting for a Citizen to decide to purchase you.
7. Choose your own: Mix and match or come up with your own idea. You're a free citizen of the Roman Empire, I shouldn't have to do all the thinking for you.

Kuvira | The Legend of Korra

Everyone informed Soleil there was a problem, but she quickly decided there was an easy solution. If Kuvira was into strength, then she would work that. And if the woman's attention was hard to get? She would do something impossible to ignore.
So, Soleil weaseled her way into tonight's Colosseum games. Being a relatively small and young woman with the sweetest smile, she was out-of-place among the enormous and gruff men that made up most of the competition. But she knew that got the audience's attention, which was exactly what she wanted.
Soleil trounced every opponent with flair and all the while her big grin never so much as wavered. Before her final and largest opponent, she gave a loud announcement to the audience declaring her victory was for Lady Kuvira.
And after the games, a messenger came to her with exactly what she was waiting for. The servant brought her to Kuvira's residence. ]
[ Now, she is waiting in the servant's quarters of Lady Kuvira's home; she is used to her invitations being in secret. She has a self-satisfied grin on her face and is rocking on her feet as she tries to restrain her excitement. Although this is still not guaranteed, she has overcome the most difficult hurdle--getting the woman's interest--and has the confidence that she will accomplish her goal.
She just needs the woman herself to greet her. ]

[Yes, she knows what he probably thinks of her. She can't help that she has a reputation - however stunted her power may be by the misogynistic legal framework of Rome, her espionage ring is the most formidable in the Empire, and the assassins in her employ are discreet and efficient, as they ought to be, striking down whomever she commands them to.
And yet some things cannot be done in the dark.
She leans over on the railing next to him, watching the chariot racers fly by for the amusement of the crowd.]
I've a proposition for you. One that will add considerably to your family's coffers.

Now, finally, Steve has a body that the gods themselves should envy. But it came with a heavy price, namely losing contact with his old friend. Steve feared the worst, accepted his death and the loneliness that came with it. But he still enters the fights of his own free will, refusing to go against anyone but trained, professional fighters. He's bought a few slave fighters with his winnings, and a few have stayed loyal to him even after Steve gave them their freedom.
Somewhere along the way, Bucky's lost his freedom. Steve didn't even realize who he was fighting until the other gladiator's mask came off after Steve delivered a particularly brutal hit. And now he's staring at his oldest friend, Steve's shield before he picked up a shield like the one in his hand. It's been a hard-fought and even match, and the crowd's going wild and crying for blood. But now that Steve knows who he's fighting, he can't offer them anyone's but his own. He stands up straight and drops his shield, along with the weapon in his hand.]
I'm not fighting you, Bucky.

7; this is slightly tl;dr and potentially incoherent, forgive me.
It's the first lesson Rey learns as a girl far from the reach of her parents and traded into the hands of slavers intent to break her. Their own lessons follow in the aftermath, in the form of the scars that embody her own rebellion as she teaches them the meaning of defiance. The tiny marks that tell their stories of a slave refusing to submit to their own whims like a prized toy exchanged from one hand to the next for a pretty price, raising her hand to retaliate against the masters keen to tame her.
The price to pay for her disobedience is her own blood, colouring the soil she stands upon. Her training as a gladiator starts at a young age, fueled by resentment and an aggression that startles her, leaves her sick to her stomach until it churns at the sight of red inked into the lines of her palms. You'll have your freedom soon enough is a spoken promise that never proves true, but the echo of such an oath bolsters her own confidence and determination, and the desperation for the loosening of her shackles is nearly enough to alleviate the guilt she carries as her burden from each game to the next.
Nearly enough.
The reminder of each game won is more than a stain upon her soul; the tally of her kills sits on her wrists in black ink as a perpetual and enduring reminder of each sacrifice made in the name of her freedom, promising herself that no loss will be in vain. It's the crowd that remembers her victories but forgets the names of those she slays, and it isn't long before their fondness for her shows in the shouts of encouragement Rey can barely hear over the sound of the blood rushing through her veins.
Until Kylo Ren.
The title of champion teeters between their hands, becoming her own to claim only to fall upon his crown before returning to her own head once again. It's a cycle that continues, a competition between warriors owned by a man that delights in the fame and fortune they bring him, and Rey has to wonder when his greed and lust for prestige will ultimately order their swords to clash.
It's outside of the Coliseum their weapons meet. Kylo Ren is not a friend, a man that isn't quite a comrade, but he's — something. A challenge, most of all, and the only gladiator in their faction capable of surprising her. And so the sight of their spar in preparation for the next event isn't an odd one, the sun in her eyes and glinting off of her blade as it presses into his throat.
It would be simple to slit his throat in her position, to suffer the punishment for taking a valued fight from their master in order to ensure her own survival. It's a thought that stirs inside of her mind until she banishes it for its cowardice and a lack of morality that repulses her, but the steel of her blade lingers against pale skin. ] You've just gotten yourself killed. [ The provocation is blatant as it slips, unimpressed, from her lips. Her eyes follow to the vein that pumps against metal, aware of the faint red mark beneath the pressure, applying just enough to ensure he feels it fully. But Rey doesn't stop there — never stops there, as challenging in her remarks as she is in her movements. ] You're getting sloppy.

He comes home with his armies, its ranks having grown and swollen under his care -- but he is no threat to the empire, not when his loyalty and his heart belongs to the one who will one day rule it. Perhaps Caesar had known of the love affair he had with Jack, a love that blossomed ever since they were children, when they grew into youths and explored each other's bodies, when Jack rejected him out of fear of what will happen if he didn't. But even through all of it he knows his heart is not his own, not when it belongs to Jack. Their separation had been more bitter than sweet, each hoping that perhaps the distance would kill whatever love they have harbored for each other.
Johnny doesn't know about Jack, but his burned still as strongly. Cast into the cold and the shadow away from his love had been misery and lonely, but hope keeps him alive, hope brings him home as one of the youngest and brightest military generals the ancient world has ever seen.
He returns to celebration and homecoming, with Caesar and his son, Johnny's Jack, presiding over the festivities with pomp and style; and his breath catches when he catches sight of him over Caesar's shoulder. It takes all he has to pay attention to Caesar's speech, to pretend that his heart is not pounding, that he's not dying to take him in his arms again.
The rest of the afternoon speeds past in a blur, and it's evening when festivities start, when the villas are filled with debauchery and partying, and Caesar has retired from it, leaving it in his son's care as host. Here, all propriety is shed, senators and merchants and great and wise men mingle with the young and beautiful with no care for the rules that lie beyond the privileged and beautiful. Bacchus himself could never have dreamed of a more lavish, decadent setting, lights flickering and dimmed, and Johnny's sure that there's more than just the handful of partygoers copulating in plain sight, drunk on wine and beauty and everything this world has to offer.
It is excess at its best and most intoxicating, but while Johnny enjoys it, his taste is for Jack; he needs to know if he had been forgotten. He searches for him, his heart in his throat -- would he be moved, if he knew Johnny had claimed all of those lands in his name? Or would he drive him away the way he did five years ago?
He finds him outside in the gardens, silent and empty, and he forges forward, cautious and careful. ]

Traveling into the wild was dangerous though and she couldn't trust a hired guard when so much of what she did betrayed what she really was. In one tightly clenched hand she held a single marked coin, but one she'd been promised would pay for a single life, any life. And now, while dawn was still nothing more than a whispered promise somewhere on the other side of night, she stood in the crowd at one of the slave markets that never really stopped grinding out the raw meat that fueled so much of Rome, peering with sharp dark eyes out of the folds of the head wrap she wore, watching the faces being lead out into the packed earth for sale, silently trusting that somehow... somehow she'd recognize the right one when they were presented.
If her entire life was based on faith, now was not the time to start doubting.]
