I don't know what's going on, but if Cheshire's skipped through the looking glass and is raising havoc in the nine kingdoms then we've got a lot of trouble on our hands. You think wonderland's bad? Wonderland's a picnic compared to the nine kingdoms. Tracking down Cheshire in a land that full of magic? I don't know why Jack thinks we're the best people for this.

[Alice stares, before a slow frown appears]

That's ... a good question. [She pulls the note out from the pocket, and hands it over. Half of it is smudged, like something was spilled on it. That's how it arrived to Alice] But it says Nine Kingdoms and says we need to go to the Looking Glass that they can control.

[Hatter turns the note over a couple of times with a frown, trying to decipher it]

let me guess... we're to go straight to the looking glass with nothing more than this note to guide us? [he mutters something derogatory about Jack] I think this is just search and retrieval, from what I can tell. Somebody should be waiting when we get to the other side to tell us what they know. At least I hope they will.

You don't think... Jack wouldn't send us on a wild goose chase, would he? I know there's power in an "Alice" in Wonderland but...

It's because you're Alice. He wants the nine kingdoms to think we're taking this seriously.

... He isn't taking the Cheshire Cat escaping to other Kingdoms seriously anyway?

My guess? Yes and no. It's not good politically, but it gets Cheshire out of Wonderland for a while.

I think he expects you to succeed eventually, he knows how resourceful you are, he's seen you in action after all. But this way, he looks like he's putting his best person on it and keeps the nine kingdoms off his back, but he also gets to enjoy having Cheshire out of his way until we finally catch him

So he is sending us on a wild goose chase, just one that he expects us to win.

[There's annoyance in her tone]

I cannot believe he would be so arrogant! What if we didn't agree to help? What if we just let Wonderland take care of it's own problems?

Cat hunting it is. I wonder what else we'll find.

In the nine kingdoms? Oh, there's a lot to find alright....

Have you been there? To the Nine Kingdoms?

A few times, never for particularly long, but I know enough about it. We don't have a lot of interaction with them, but enough that it was a good idea to know things, just in case.

[She laughs, and pokes him fondly] Only you would get that.

[Grinning, he nudges her with his shoulder in return] So, are you ready to experience the..uh... wonder that is the nine kingdoms?

[She grins back at him, a laugh in her voice] I think I'm ready. Lead on, Hatter.

[It takes them a little while to get where they need to go, a bit of a debrief that isn't much more than confirmation of what they've already guessed, a contact to go and find once they get into the kingdoms, and then they're off through the mirror and stepping out into a quaint little town. He turns to Alice with a little flourish] The nine kingdoms, tada

[Alice looks around] Somehow I was expecting more... Disney.

[Disney had fascinated him for a while, although he'd fallen out with it when he'd seen the Disney Mad Hatter, complaining that he was much better looking]
