Not understanding this. The first comment was a troll, and other trolls responded in kind (it saddens me to see another Franklin Mott used in such a way, but I digress) but aside from two or three blank comments, most followed the instructions.

It irritates me when people state "OTA" on their posts and then don't reply. It's rude. If I've taken the time to tag you then you should reply back and not just abandon the thread completely because you didn't have [insert character name here] reply to yours. If you aren't crossover friendly and only want to interact with characters from your canon then perhaps you should stick to certain communities were you can specify that.

I actually really like going along with other people's plots. More than coming up with them myself. Not that I can't come up with anything, but I like what others come up with better, usually.

If you tag someone, you should have some information in your journal. Name, fandom, gender. Something. I don't mind exploring crossovers, but if it's something I'm completely ignorant of, and there's nothing to go on, I'm not that motivated to tag back.

This. Especially relevant to the recent OC meme. I don't mind OCs, because half the time I don't know other characters anyway, but if you have nothing in your profile, don't even bother choosing a journal scheme or posting any info at all, then that gives absolutely nothing for me or anyone else to go on.

Sometimes its hard to instantly come up with a scenario with a OC. Like...half the time you don't even know their personality.

It's that way with characters that aren't ocs, too, if you mean it's hard to respond to one with a scenario. I see a lot of characters I'd love to try to thread with sometimes but I don't want to make them feel awkward because it's not someone they'd know what to do with?

I dunno. Lot of interesting characters but a lot that I don't know anything about, and I don't always have time to delve into their world.

Some things I'd like to try in RP, but pretty sure no one in their right mind would go along with this:

- A thread with more than 2 characters mingling. Not just a thread of two characters tagging back and forth until someone hops in and makes their own branch of the thread with just the OP, Not just a thread with 3-5 characters with a turn order(though this is also quite fun, especially if more can come in and just update the turn order to accommodate them), but a thread where you can reply to any part and anyone can react to it. Kind of like anon threads you see in places, only with established characters. It would be hard to keep track of and it would come out as a mess, but I think I'd enjoy it.

- CR in a game that starts with small encounters. I mean, start off by tagging each other's posts with just an exchange of 'Hi's each time or just a note of 'my character sees your character doing this' a few times until one of the characters get curious/paranoid about the other to start a real conversation. I'd especially want to try this on characters mine wouldn't bother with otherwise.

But really, both of these are too unreliable to suggest to others so it might never happen.

I enjoy using both blank comments and fully-developed comments for thread starters, depending on whether or not I can think of an appropriate scenario for a meme based on who I expect to reply, if anyone.

The divide can be harsh but I've found myself playing a few good cross medium threads. Mostly with various Doctor Whos for some odd reason XD which is funny because I know jack all about Doctor Who.

It should be meme etiquette to respond to another character’s entry in a meme for every character you tag into that meme.

That would instantly cut down on the memes that have three pages of tag-ins before a single thread actually happens, and maybe stop those players (you know who you are) that post with upwards of ten characters without offering anything in the way of prompts.

I can't set up a scene unless I know who my tagging partner is. My character will treat people differently depending on who they are, what they look like, how big they are, what their personality is like...I really just have a hard time writing a generic "reply to me!" comment that isn't super vague. I just want to know who I'm playing with before setting up the scene.

Replying or no replying is kinda hit or miss. I can't really blame someone for not replying when I post or when they suddenly stop. Don't feel like it? Go ahead.

A personal pet peeve is when a cool (by my perspective) meme comes up, has like a few comments and it's like "oh cewl, I'll comment!" and then it gets bumped back by 3+ memes about sex (Yes, I AM referring to the Fantasy AU thread. I thought that would be fun...)

I wish the mods at the game I'm apping in would freaking get to my app already. I hate to bitch about it since I know they have RL stuff but it's a frustrating wait and I wish they could speed it up a bit.

I really hate that it's become the default on a TFLN meme to put a TFLN in the comment instead of leaving a blank comment. In TFLN memes, a blank comment allows for far more variation because instead of having ONE TFLN that a ton of people respond to, you have a separate TFLN for each person AND they're more specific to each person. I know I have plenty of muses who wouldn't text the same thing to everyone.

I'd love to tag with characters from other fandoms. But... I play a villain. Who is almost never willing to be gentle or friendly. Who has the power to hurt most other characters and will not hesitate to do so.

Tagging with anyone outside the fandom with my character seems rude. No one in any other fandom asked to be practically godmodded by my character. How do I go about cross-fandom tagging at all?

If I tag you in a meme, I'd appreciate at least a tag back rather than not acknowledging that I tagged at all. Don't know how you feel 'bout that, but I find it rude.

And if anybody finds I used too many words for this, I like being wordy. It's easier for me to write like this. I could have not included this bit at all, but I did anyway because rambling helps me relax, and isn't that the point of this?

You're not alone. In some cases, it's akin to introducing yourself to someone on the street and having them walk past you. Most people wouldn't do that in real life, so why do it on the internet?

I don't like people assuming lack of tag backs is automatically because they don't want to. I know it hurts--we've all gone through it. But you know. Stuff happens. A sudden work load, wi-fi being mean, pile of game tags taking priority, etc etc. Sometimes you just don't see it coming...

So yeah, this also serves as an apology to those I didn't get to tag back. 8(

I'm really bad at keeping track of all my threads, and sometimes tags get forgotten and I only remember them a week later when I'm too darn embarrassed to tag back. Sometimes I get busy, sometimes I decide to leave a tag so I can think on it then forget, sometimes my Internet fritzes, etc. etc. etc. So really, there are a variety of reasons someone else may not tag back, and I personally prefer to give them the benefit of the doubt.
