snow? oh fun.
And hopefully not have two left feet. But, he wants her to dance, he wants to get away from the others who have been questioning him all night long. There's a mental sigh, but she finally gives him her hand.]
As long as you don't let me stumble around, okay.
[She has been watching him dance with others. Women were more interested in gossip than actually getting to know Ben. Although there were a few that were smiling at him, maybe flirting. Whatever the case, she was going to dance with him to give him this one reprieve....and then maybe, just maybe they would be able to leave.]
Lead the way.
Shoveled it six times today. No it is not.
They've trained with each other, they've shared their minds with each other. Rey will do this thing for him, because she knows there's only so much of this he can take before he begins to plot an early exit his mother would likely give him an earful for. He took her hand with a smile, a real one, rich with fondness.]
Allegedly it's possible to tap into the Force and at least keep balance. Somehow, though, I don't think you'll need it.
[He lead her with confidence to the dance floor, where the light was better, and when it caught her eyes for a moment they seemed to glimmer, and Ben decided tonight was well worth the mental cost for this moment.]
awww /hugs/
[Like stumbling out onto the dance floor, but she knows Ben wants this. He wants to have a dance, to get away from the clucking hens of the party and be with the one person who makes him happy. He's suffered enough tonight, there was no need to add onto by declining his invitation. Besides, Rey can only imagine the gossip that'll spread if she declined his invitation. One Jedi declining another, oh the galaxy would have a field day with it.
But no, she's willing to make a fool of herself to keep Ben sane and happy.
They step onto the dance floor with all eyes instantly on them. The brunette doesn't pay attention to them, only to Ben and his lead. She's light on her feet, flexible and paying close attention to the beat. As calm as she looks, she's focused on not stepping on his feet. Though the longer they dance, the less she cares about the world around him. Ben's dark eyes are alight with happiness, and knowing it was because of her, it made her heart swell. Nothing and no one mattered in this moment, not when both of them could be together in public. It was under the guise of a dance, but they knew it was one of the few moments they had to look like a couple and not be reprimanded for being so close to each other.]
You're not too bad of a teacher. [A light tease, something to make him smile or even chuckle at.]

Keeping his feet from making contact with hers was something he achieved by focusing in on the rhythm of the drummer, creating a steady pattern in his mind's eye. Somehow, it wasn't a chore with her. With her it was just a small price to pay for those bright eyes, shining with inner light, that slight smile of hers that still made his heart race, the soft hint of crinkles around her eyes when she met his gaze. He wished he could kiss her without causing a stir. He wished the single song could last forever, the notes going on deep into the night and into sunrise. More than anything, though, he felt a swelling of the Light in him, of peace, love, a free and airy weightlessness settling over them. They were the only people in the galaxy as far as he was concerned, if only for this song.]
Coming from you, that's high praise indeed, [he snarked without malice, not even sparing the rest of the room a glance.]

The music was starting to slow down, the music fading away. Shameful the music was coming to a close, or that they could not end it on a kiss. There was a part of her that wanted to do away with decorum and let their secret be known. The scandal and consequences that would follow wouldn't bother her, however, she didn't want to do anything without consulting Ben first.]
There's only one thing that can make this night better. [Well, two things. Aside from a kiss, crawling into bed with Ben would be utterly divine.]

His need to kiss her was outweighed by the rules of this place, but he could grant her half of her desires, at least. He leaned in to get a barely-breathed whisper to her, knowing there were ears straining to listen in to them.] I am yours when this is done with. You know where to find me.
[The idea of shedding the thick layers of formal ware, washing the styling gel out of his hair and laying beside Rey was enough to keep him going through this night. Of that, he was sure. There was nothing he wanted more except perhaps another song, but he could see a few people gearing up to ask them each to dance when this song was truly over.]

When Ben began to lean in, Rey felt her heart start to pick up. Her hazel eyes wide, wondering if he would break the rules to kiss her. Even as something as small as a peck on the cheek would be enough for her. The closer he leaned in, the more she hoped, and when she felt his hot breath on her skin...she felt her cheeks grow hot.]
...I suppose it's too soon to leave then. [No matter how badly she wanted to leave and spend time with Ben. Already the music was beginning to fade and there were a few people waiting for the two to pull away to ask each of them for a dance. Rey doesn't want to, but to not raise suspicion, she'll have to. She squeezed Ben's hand again before they began to pull back.
The next dance wasn't on par with the experience she had with Ben. There was some mindless chatter, faking interest and overall boring. If possible, she wanted to go back to hiding in the shadows, but since Ben shown everyone she could dance there were going to be plenty of young men who wanted to fill up her dance card.]

But the war is far from over, would remain far from over for a long time. Reality reared its' unwelcome head to return him to the arms of dance partners he cared nothing for. He looked at her with an apology in his eyes.]
I'd give it a good hour or so before it would be acceptable to leave, [he said, carefully holding her gaze. The second they could leave, he intended to, wanted to escape with her to somewhere private and let down the walls forced up by circumstance and occasion. He wanted to kiss her the way a drowning man sought air. For now, he was stuck with young women who were clearly more interested in the dark, dangerous thing he had been than the person he actually was.
He eyed the clock whenever he could, longing for time to move faster. It had whirled by when he was with Rey, yet now it dragged on in the worst of ways.]

The brunette was so different now compared to her past life. A woman who wanted to show her affection to the man who held her heart. But it would cause mayhem for people to know two Jedi were in love with each other. Even worse, if the First Order caught onto the two of them, it would give them something to use against Ben and Rey.
Ben's answer doesn't satisfy Rey, but she nods her head regardless.]
Not sure if it'll be good, but an hour. [Then they could leave, or Rey could fake being tired and overwhelmed. People would easily eat up the excuse, knowing a scavenger wouldn't be used to such fine evenings.
Both of them were glancing at the clock whenever they could, eyeing each minute until it was finally an hour. The young man she was forced to dance with was prattling on and on about his achievements, trying to make himself seem more important than he actually was. It didn't impress Rey much, especially when she was doing her best to play nice. When the music died down, she denied him the chance for another chance and began to walk away. She was fully intent on waiting the remainder of her time in the shadows. If people approached her, so be it, but she didn't want to endure another dance with another man wanting to gain her favor.]
