[Her eyes fall as they move into the dance, probably in the hopes of making sure she doesn't step on his feet. It's relatively simple, to her relief - the twirl makes it momentarily a bit more difficult, but judging by the ever widening smile on her mouth, she's not at all displeased. His words draw her focus back up to his face, her brows raising with it.]

I didn't think you were. It's just--

[A brief falter, almost embarrassed.]

Why dance with me at all?

I know you. [ Well sort of. ]

You... stay in the shadows and watch the action, but you rarely participate yourself.

[ He gives her another tiny smile. Even though they weren't dancing near anyone, he thought it might make her happy. ]

[lethechained]

[The words nearly make her stumble. Eyes round, she momentarily fixes him with a look of disbelief before the embarrassment catches up and she turns her face - which has quickly begun to color in earnest - away with another little, 'oh'.]

I--....

[He's right, which is the funny thing. He knows her about as well as anyone does, in truth, and while that might not be saying too much-- she looks back up at him, sheepish but with lips upturned at the corners.]

I guess you figured me out, then. I wouldn't be brave enough to do this on my own.

[Or ask someone to dance, rather.]

Just be glad it's me and not Sora asking you. You know he'd be taking you right to the middle.

[ he says with a teasing look on his face. Now that he wasn't so worried about protecting a sleeping Sora, he could appreciate the gentleness of Namine. She was rather sweet and shy and... it was sort of cute.

He gave her a small little twirl before pulling her back in. ]

[Her immediate, responding laugh sounds almost like it was surprised out, but it's genuine and almost free, somehow, in comparison to her usual demeanor, despite being quiet. Twirling at his behest, she comes back with the ghost of that laughter still in her voice.]

I am. Believe me.

[For exactly the stated reason - and there's a little less guilt, too, to be doing this with Riku instead. He's... not someone she's tricked into liking her, after all.]

I'm sure at least one of us would trip over his shoes...!

Not to mention he is pretty much the definition of dancing to the beat of his own drum.

[ Wow... hearing that laughter of hers made him feel a wave of warmth. She really seemed like she was enjoying herself right now. ]

[She is, in fact, having quite a nice time; this much is obvious from the brightness of her eyes and the lingering raise to the corners of her mouth. No matter what they've both been through, she feels - safer, with him. She always does, and that helps her relax enough to joke back with a completely unreproachful 'scolding'.]

Riku...! Are you saying Sora has no sense of rhythm?

[Rude, Mr. Sora's-Best-Friend.]

[ He snorts a little and gives her another twirl. She's earned it for making him grin like that. ]

[And he's earned an even brighter smile from her for grinning - and when she comes back from that twirl she takes the opportunity to encourage him into a twirl of his own. Because clearly it's not fair that she gets to do it all! Laughter really putting the lie to her words,]

Shame on you...! That's mean.

[Pffff--]

He handled it alright underwater.

[Dancing, that is.]

Although he did have a tail at the time.

[ He gets a bit of an embarrassed look on his face, but he awkwardly lets her twirl him. He was doing this to make her happy after all. When he came back he took that moment to dip her. Two could play this game. ]

I'd laugh if I ever saw him in person, but I'd rather not grow gills to have to see.

[Hey, come on, Riku, it's fun. No need to get embarrassed! She sure isn't.]

[... Although being dipped seems to render her temporarily speechless, mouth shaping into an 'o'. Her stomach seems to jump, her eyes focused on his - but really that just has to be the physical reaction to a sudden descent, right? She recovers with an airy little breath, smile back in force.]

Oh, I think it would be worth it. [A slightly higher quirk to her lips--] For the rest of us, at least.

[ He pulls her back up and glances off to the side, a faint color creeping its way onto his cheeks. ]

Are you trying to say I'd make a good sharkboy, or whatever I'd turn into?

[Unabashed, though it's after a moment of thought and some steadying, now that she's on her feet again. She adjusts the hand at his shoulder slightly, fingers splaying and one side of her lips a little higher than the other.]
