There's no need for elaborate backstories for this AU. You go into heat, rut, whatever you'd like to call it. You've always done so since you were of age to do so. It's a socially accepted norm, and people have gotten used to the difficulties that come with the mating seasons. Life goes on.

Isn't this alpha/beta/omega, then? No, not at all. In this meme, there are no gender-variant genitalia unless your character comes prepackaged with those. No giant cocks - again, unless your character is already packing - or self-lubricating assholes or anal wombs, and no knotting. Unless that's your thing. There's also no set in stone roles with regards to dominance and submission, and some people do not even feel the inclination towards either. Still, there are a few similarities, mainly being that the pheromones of others can put someone into heat that was not in it before and the bond between mates. In addition, some humans/human-stand-ins have created packlike dynamics in response, but this is not universal.

In this meme, it's just regular old human...oids feeling the urge for sex. And by "urge," we of course mean all-consuming drive. If characters choose to ignore that urge, it will backfire on them. The more they put it off, the more they will lose their control, becoming more irritable and aggressive, and eventually be nothing but a rutting animal until the need to mate is satisfied. Not all heats call for mating, of course, and most people can just relieve themselves, but when you do mate, you feel the urge to stay by their side and essentially "nest." These desires don't always pan out into offspring, and mating isn't forever unless it's mutually decided upon. However, impregnating your mate is said to be one of the most euphoric experiences a person can have, even if some people only mate because they want to utterly possess someone, as mates are bonded for a while.

save you: You've been saved from the advances of an undesired mate by someone who may be much more suited. Show your gratitude?

cockfight: Two people want the same mate. That won't do. There are ways to figure that out, not always involving fists.

increase in dominance: Exactly what it says.

increase in submission: Again, exactly what it says.

unexpected dominance: No one expects you to ever be dominant. Prove them wrong.

protect: You want to protect your mate from others, and that means putting your scent all over them.

fighter: Part of your process is seeing who's worthy of you by testing their mettle. That, or you want to fight anything.

off your meds: It's fairly rare, but some can get blockers for their heat. What if those blockers run out? Why, it makes your heat ten times worse!

dubcon: You say no, but your body says yes and you can't stop loving it.

calm you down: Whether it's to fuck or to fight, you're going mad, and they have to bring you back down to Earth.

odd man out: For some reason, you don't go into heat. Never have. Being with you is pretty relaxing, and some find it appealing to not have to deal with pheromones that aren't theirs. You do have to learn how to appreciate their problems, though.

Hernan's eyes slipped closed in comfort, and he leaned forward into the touch like a starving man.

"Yes, mi vida. Though I admit, it is the first time that I have started a cycle with... well, with someone like you in my life."

A steady companion of sorts. Let alone something like the situation he has with Scott and Kirk both.

"Apparently, it makes me a little possessive."

Scott didn't lean into Hernan but he was effectively waiting to be touched. Meanwhile his fingers slid from Hernan's cheek to wrap around the back of his neck, warm and gentle. "A little possessive is telling someone to step off. Putting someone through a wall is a lot more than a little possessive."

He didn't sound upset, just amused.

He tilted his head with a slow, easy smile as he shifted into Scott's hand.

"I do not like Logan at the best of times. I'm usually an inch away from putting him through a wall. A 'little possessive' and that inch is gone."

His own hands slipped forward to settle at Scott's hips, thumbs grazing lines up and down Scott's sides.

"He should know better. Now he does."

"Well, now that you've gotten putting him through a wall out of your system...."

Scott was turned on. He was also very, very uncertain how to proceed. Yes, even with Hernan touching him. Even touching Hernan back. Why? Because it was new and he couldn't read Hernan's mind and that made him cautious. Not fearful, just - careful.

"You say that like I won't feel the urge again upon seeing his face," he pointed out with a little grin as he leaned in to start kissing Scott's jaw, down to his throat. He kept his attention away from Scott's face and his glasses.

He paused, though.

"Something the matter?"

"I don't know what you're like when you're like this. I don't know what you want, or what's safe." Or how close to an edge he was or how well he'd take bossiness or - He really didn't know and he was really not good with a lack of information.

"There is nothing unsafe for you, mi corazon," he said smoothly, his hands running along Scott's side. "I am... possessive. That is all."

He looked into Scott's face, into his eyes through the glasses.

"I would never harm you unless you asked me to. And even then, only so far."

Scott wondered dimly if he were capable of fully, really, trusting anybody anymore. He didn't voice it. It wasn't the time, it wasn't the place, it wasn't -

It wasn't ever going to be the time or place, and it was at this point so ingrained in him that it was inescapable and unworthy of commentary, anyway.

He angled his head slightly, tightened his hand on Hernan's neck and leaned up to kiss him. Hard - hard and demanding and hot and yet somehow more open and giving than anyone who didn't know him like this would believe in spite of it all. Hernan was possessive? Okay. Scott was good with being possessed.

The answering purr said that Scott's demands did nothing but soothe whatever had made him lash out, that the firmness of the kiss pulled him back and put him on solid ground. Hernan made no bones about it, didn't pause or ask. Instead, he lifted Scott into his arms and started carrying him purposefully into his little home.

He only realized as he made his way in that Scott had never actually seen the bedroom. They never got that far.

Scott makes a slightly undignified sound when he's picked up and then - "YOu know, I can walk...." He's not really protesting, though, just holding onto him and curiously waiting to see the bedroom.

This should probably be more urgent, but between his self-control and Hernan being Hernan. He's almost back to comfortable, if somewhat cautious still.

The undignified noise made him smile a little; let it never be said he didn't have a mischievous streak to him.

"Of course you can walk, guapo, but if I had to watch your ass right now, we wouldn't have made it to the bed."

The bedroom was both what one might expect and not: it's a large, sturdy looking bed that matches the rest of the decore, but it's much more plush and comfortable than anything else. There's nothing lavish to it, but as with the rest of the house, there's no show to it. It's a bedroom, made to be comfortable for him. The perfect place for a good rest.

Not tonight, or not yet tonight.

"You," Scott said, squirming down once they were in the bedroom - but only to get rid of his shoes and go to the bed, "are completely and utterly ridiculous." It was mild, it was amused, and it was absolutely the truth.

Also the truth: The bedroom suited Hernan and Hernan suited Scott. "Now come here and lie down."

Bossy was back.

He likes Bossy. He also likes Scott. This is why he very dutifully makes his way to the bed, pulls his clothing off carefully before slipping onto the bed. For all that his body clearly knew what it wanted, and that he'd had his impulses send Logan through a wall or two, he was relatively calm and methodical as he did. And didn't reach out until he had done as Scott asked.

Scott - was impressed. It wasn't as simple as that of course, it was caught up and tangled in admiration and respect and actual love, but that didn't take away from the fact that he was also impressed.

Or that he had a very naked Superman in his bed and quickly under his hands. The man got under his skin often enough that this was a fairly easy step to take, even now. That wariness and caution more or less faded away and when Hernan reached, he went.

No hesitation, no typical reserve just a low groan, the slide of his hands up Hernan's chest and then settling in place above him with the faintest imaginable smirk.

That smirk. Some might say some claptrap poetry about 'genuine smiles', as if softness was required to make them real, as if the glow of satisfaction wasn't as bright as the sun and twice as beautiful. Scott was a man of lean lines and hard edges and Hernan loved him, loved him exactly for that, wanted him for the same, and let out a low, satisfied sort of rumble as Scott took his place.

"It's good, then, that you enjoy ridiculous things."
