The Apology Meme

You've done something incredibly stupid. Maybe you've said the wrong thing. Maybe you broke something that wasn't yours. Or, maybe you broke a promise. Whatever the reason, you have to find a way to apologize to the person you hurt.

Rules:

1. Post with your character name, fandom and preferences.
2. People reply to you using RNG (or not) to pick an option from both lists.
3. Roleplay the apology and decide if the person can ever be forgiven.
4. Have fun!

The Reasons

01. Caught Lying - Maybe you thought they wouldn't find out, or maybe you thought they wouldn't care. Whatever the reason, the other person is now mad at you.

02. Caught Cheating - You had an affair and you loved found out. Or, maybe you cheated on a test or game.

03. Heat of the Moment - The two of you were fighting and some hurtful things were said. Now it's time to make amends.

04. Broke Something - Whether it was on purpose or on accident, you broke something belonging to the other person.

05. Snooping - You were caught snooping in the other person's stuff, or maybe even their email or phone.

06. Gossip - The other person told you a huge secret, and you blabbed it to anyone who would listen.

07. Wildcard - Pick your own scenario!

The Apologies

01. Letter/email/text - It's kind of cheap, but it's a start, right?

02. Phone Call - Maybe calling them is a food first step.

03. Flowers - Have them delivered to them, or take them there yourself.

04. A Gift - It can as small, or as big as you'd like.

05. A Surprise Weekend Away - Maybe getting away will solve the problem.

06. Makeup Sex - Maybe it won't solve all your problems, but it's fun!

07. Wildcard - Whatever you'd like.

[Sky knows she was out of line last night. It wasn't that big a deal, but she was tired and cranky and she said some things she didn't mean. She's spent most of the day feeling horrible about it so when Matt comes home, he'll find her sitting on a floor covered in white butcher paper. There are several bottles of fingerpaint sitting beside her. On the butcher paper she's already written a great big 'I'm Sorry' in blue paint with a frowny face. She waves one blue stained hand at him and tilts her head toward the apology.]

[Arguments happen, Matt knows, but that doesn't stop him from feeling ... down. He should have just let the comments go - he shouldn't have shot back his own that were unreasonably rude. Sadly, he's had meetings all day, and he's been out of the apartment. He's been staring at his phone for the past two hours, either hoping it would ring, or that he would magically pick it up and dial and apologize profusely. When it doesn't, and he's done for the day, he sighs, and makes his way home. To say he's surprised to see her, and the butcher paper, and all the blue paint is an understatement, but it doesn't stop him from smiling, even if it is very, very small.]

What's all this?

[They're both guilty of saying rude things and really the fight hadn't been a big deal. It'd just gotten out of hand. It's just as well that he didn't get to call. She worked most of the day and they frown upon getting phone calls at work, but she spent a good deal of her downtime trying to figure out how to make this better. She's not sure this is the answer, but she's hoping it'll help.

When she sees him, a hopeful expression comes across her face, but it's guarded. She's really afraid this is it. She'll be collecting her things from around the apartment and crashing here won't happen any more.]

I...said a lot of things I didn't mean last night and I just...wasn't ready to let you go so...I'm sorry.

[The thing was - they'd gotten so heated that many of the things that were said were only to hurt, not because they'd actually meant them. The little jabs, and the not so little insults did exactly that. When she'd stormed out ... truth be told ... he couldn't sleep. And all day he's been worrying that once he got home ... all of her stuff would be gone.

To see her here, with a painted banner is ... well ... the best surprise he could have hoped for. And then she says that, and he knows that things would be okay.]

No. Just ... c'mere. I'm not ready to let you go, either. Not now, not ever.

[Moving out was something she considered, not because she was angry but because she thought he wouldn't want her here. It was when she started to pack up that she realized she wasn't ready to give up simply because of how she thought he'd feel. She needed to know for sure and she needed him to know that regardless of what happened, she was sorry for the things she said.

A smile spreads across her face and she uses some of that blur speed she has so that she's sitting on the floor with the paint and in the next heartbeat he's got an armful of Sky. She buries her face in the crook of his neck, arms tight around him. Her eyes fill with tears.]

I was so afraid you'd want me to leave.

[While the fight had been intense, he never entertained the notion, not for a second, of asking Sky to leave. He'd hoped that things hadn't gotten to the point where she would want to leave. And as surprised as he was to open his door to see her there ... he was just as relieved.

They'd get past this, he's sure, because he loves her. And it might take some work, but he's more than willing to put any extra effort in to make sure it didn't happen again.

Suddenly, he's being held so close, and he's a bit taken aback, but it doesn't take long at all for him to slide his arms around her, and to lean down to press a kiss to her forehead.]

Never. I could never want that.

[She's prepared to put in some time and effort to make sure it never happens again as well. Sure, they'll probably fight. Everyone fights, but it doesn't have to be this horrible again. She doesn't want to spend another night wandering if they're still a couple or not ever again.]

Have I mentioned how lucky I am to have you?

[Fighting is inevitable. The going to bed without being angry, the being able to prove that although they're allowed to be upset with each other, letting her knows that he wasn't always going to be angry is key. He doesn't want to spend any more time worrying if he was ever going to see her again, or if this was it.]

On occasion. Have I done the same?

[She pulls back just enough to look up at him.]

Yeah. A time or two. [She hesitates, biting her bottom lip.] We're all right, aren't we?

[And he lets his eyes meet hers, and he hopes that she can see exactly what he's feeling through them.]

Yeah. Yeah - we're alright.

[A smile curves over her lips as she leans in and presses a kiss to his lips. It's more than she'd dared to hope for.]

You know, on the boyfriend scale, you rate way up there.

[Matt grins into the kiss, goofy, but pleased, and very, very happy.]

Isn't it too late for trying flattery on me? I'd already give you anything you asked me to.

Flattery, yes, but truth, nope. Never to late for that.

[She runs her fingers through his hair.] Then you're very lucky all I want is you.

Luckily enough, it's all I'll ever be able to tell you. The truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

[He hums softly, leaning closer into the embrace.] Of course I am. I know just how lucky I am.
