It was hell when you dealt with a Nogitsune. That's exactly what it was. Oh, he knew some of the tactics that Void was throwing at him dealt with trying to get some semblance of self back. Especially after everything that had happened months ago. What he hadn't expected was the fox to come after him. Something that he should've expected. Especially when he'd played host to the damn thing for what felt like for so long.

Right now, however, all he knew was the pain that was being etched into his back. The symbol that he dreaded and yet at the same time, was slowly accepting. Being branded as Void's could easily have it's perks. Though why he was starting to think like that was anyone's clue. Not that the fox spirit knew what he was thinking. "You do realize that you can't really do much to me after this, right?" Nothing that involved slamming him onto his back anyway.

That was why Maria had come here in the first place. She'd heard that some kind of primal evil had settled deep within the root of this castle, something that was strong enough to begin gathering monsters from at least three kingdoms over. She'd arrived with spells blazing, and had already slain enough that her leathery outfit is stained with the blood of those previously encountered.

Her expertise is how she knows better than to trust that the heat in this room is at all genuine. It's how she can tell it's just another trap among dozens.]
