The tavern meme
You are in a TAVERN...

Taverns and inns are liminal spaces. In them, travellers mingle with locals, the rich and the poor both need a place to stay for the night, and the legality of your life has no impact on that a night with food and warmth and perhaps song and more will be more comfortable than one at the side of the road. Hopefully more secure, too. Some also come to gamble or to meet friends. Some seek people to hire for more or less shady missions. Or perhaps you came here to work? To sell things, to sing, to steak or offer your... personal services or perhaps you're staff?
Perhaps you are from a time and place where this kind of tavern or inn is a thing. Maybe you were at a ren faire or larp and suddenly realized that the tavern around you just seems a bit too ...real (it was the smell, wasn't it). Maybe you travel around different universes for a living. It doesn't matter, they will accept your coin.
How to play
1. a quest to slay a dragon - or to find a lost horse or mow a lawn. Not all jobs that you can acquire in a tavern are all that grandiose.
-1 you were just hired and are now trying to find companions
-2 you are trying to hire people
-3 you were just hired along with this other person, and you now need to figure out what to do with the situation
-4 wildcard
2. the songs that we sing - no tavern is complete without some song. And you're the one who is responsible for it right now
-1 you're a bard. and serenading specific people is a great way to get money from them. or perhaps you're taking a break and plopping you ass down next to a random guest. or whatever.
-2 drunken singing is the best. just this one person isn't singing with you. the obvious answer? make them.
-3 the night is almost over, and you sit in a corner, humming a melody that you heard while it was still crowded. Why? Boredom, nostalgia, something else?
-wildcard
3. work it baby - geez, some people have a job to do here
-1 barkeeper/barmaid/owns the tavern
-2 vendor. are you selling sketchy herbs or knives? trying to get people to believe that this amulet will them gain the love of their lives? or something else?
-3 thief. Hey, where better to get your hand on things than a crowded place with inebriated people in it?
-4 prostitute. yes, you talked to the owner and they're fine with you working here, or even encourages it. or maybe not. either way, this guest here looks like they'd be interested in your services...
-5 wildcard
4. i've never been a gambling man
-1 yes, you are. and probably deeply in debt through it, but just one more game won't hurt, right?
-2 it's not a gamble when some markings help your luck a bit, is it?
-3 you've never tried this before, but it looks interesting... maybe those gentleman or -woman would enlighten you as to how to play?
-4 wildcard
5. let us drink wine together
-1 you just wanted to eat in drink in quiet, but there isn't enough space for everyone to get a table of their own so you have to share
-2 drinking alone is boring and you're a rich person tonight, so how about buying a round?
-3 you haven't seen anyone in what feels like years, so you just have to string up a conversation with anyone who doesn't run fast enough
-4 this person fascinates you. perhaps they're hot, or they are not from this area, or your interest is more professional. whatever it is, you'll approach them
-5 and not only drink. also dance. Yes, after a few drinks grabbing the nearest person and moving to the music seems like exactly the thing to do.
-6 wildcard
6. little snoring willy with your eyes so blue - it's an inn, so you can sleep here, too. sadly in these times, you only buy a bed, not a whole room. perhaps only a spot in a shared bed.
-1 they're snoring. or maybe you are snoring.
-2 the window needs to be shut. no, open. no, shut. let's hope you aren't founding fathers or this'll last all night.
-3 could be please not have a candle burn all night? Or perhaps you just need to have it burning...
-4 well, seeing your roommate with some of their clothes off, there are interesting observations to be made. but do they really have to be remarked on? apparently
-5 or perhaps your roommate's luggage is more interesting. you just have to wait until they're asleep...
-6 someone in this room got themselves into trouble, and now they're soldiers trying to knock down the door.
-wildcard
7. wildcard

How to play
- Comment with your character/canon/ota or not
- Optional: Put a short blurb in your tag about what your character might be doing in the tavern.
- Roll a number, then roll again under that number. Or do what you want/wildcard.

Despite the storm, or perhaps because of it, the tavern is filled tonight. There are a few locals, but most have kept to their homes and hearths to weather the storm. There are guardsmen and trappers, caravan crews and traders unwilling to weather the storm unsheltered. The crowd is more mixed than usual. All of them gathering in the tap room for the warmth and sense of security the press of people brings.
Most patrons are well into their cups by the late hour when the door opens again, and a woman stumbles through, pushed by a gust of wind and bringing a shower of slanting rain into the room. Some look up when she enters, but most are comfortably enough into their drinks to ignore her. Her great coat is nearly plastered to her body with the rain. Her long hair a dark brown, though it looks nearly black soaked as it is. She carries a messenger satchel and a narrow riding saddle beneath a blanket. As she walks to the bar to speak with the owner of the tavern about a room for the night, her sheathed sword swings at her side.
Her conversation with the owner seems to go poorly though -- the rooms of the inn are booked solid already with those seeking shelter. With a sigh though, she places coins on the counter before him and accepts a rough blanket before she makes her way to a clear spot near the fireplace and the minstrel playing there. She looks him over, a slight smile ghosting over her lips, and she nods to him before taking her seat. She pulls off her great coat, hanging it on the back of her chair to dry, but the blanket is used to dry off the saddle instead of herself.

Now however, he was dozing off, and it was right between two tables, his feet on one bench, his ass on the floor and his head against another bench. It looked very uncomfortable and he was very much in the way of anyone trying to walk between said tables.
His hat was covering most of his face, but you could see the tips of his whiskers vibrating a little as he breathed. ]
