Auto had just turned into the road leading out of town and had traveled a few miles down it, heading back towards the city where Walter would be waiting for a pick up. His sleek black car edged in blue neon moving effortlessly along when he pulled to an abrupt stop.

A car was a the side of the road, it looked like it had a flat tire. Automan opened the door, stepping out to see if he could help. "Are you in need of assistance, miss?"

[ her bike won't hold the two of them, so she finds a place to store it and steals something with protection from the sun and enough room for them both. there's still no destination - kate doesn't mention one, and kisa doesn't have one, so they just spend a few days driving north. they're heading towards the border of kansas by the end of the third day, and she's got the feeling that the girl doesn't want to be reminded of the brothers who set her on this road to begin with.

she probably isn't that fond of traveling with the woman who tore her world apart either, but they'd both been in the wrong place at the wrong time. or the right place at the right time. she hasn't decided yet. she doesn't think kate has, either.

it's just before nightfall when she finds a place for them to stay - quiet and unassuming, nothing too run down or too ritzy, nothing that will arouse suspicion. they've been staying in a lot of places like this. they're supposed to rest when they stop, but she doesn't do much resting. she still remembers that smile on kate's young, sweet face when they'd first found each other. she's still frightened of it.

she pulls into the lot, but doesn't park yet, glancing over at the girl to gauge her reaction. ]

[In a long, long line of bad decisions that Celeste's made in her life - that make up her life, really - this is probably the worst of them all. She has no idea where she's going, nothing to her name but what fit in her duffel bag and purse, and no real instinct to guide her other than the burning need to escape. There's not an ounce of street smarts in her, for all of her cynicism and bitterness about the world, because she's been so incredibly sheltered her entire life. She could well end up dead in a ditch.

But better that than what she left behind: she and Thomas exposed for something that never even really happened, no one listening to his assurances that the rumours had gotten out of hand, Romain furious and out of her life, her parents calling her all manner of horrible names and saying she shouldn't even have been trusted as far away as BIAPA, the whole school turning her into a laughingstock as though talk of similar things didn't ripple constantly through their whispers and gossip, and yet another shady group of adults convening to determine her future.

No thank you. No thank you to all of it. She's well and truly alone now with not a single person on her side (other than Thomas, who can only make things worse by speaking for her now that minds are made up), and if she wants to make her own way at last, it's got to be done drastically. That's why she's at the edge of the road near to an off-ramp leading to a highway, leaving enough room for someone to pull over and pick her up, obviously at the beginning of her journey by how she's dressed (with black leggings and her favourite cherry red combat boots) and immaculately made up. One hand holds a cigarette while the other remains thrust out with her thumb up, her expression as bored and casual as she can manage.

She's heartbroken and terrified, really. But let it never be said that Celeste Blackwell couldn't pull up a convincing mask when she needed it.]

[It's an old car, a little rusty on the outside but well maintained on the inside. It's previous owner, sweet and a little hipster, had died weeks prior. Terrible accident, the police had said while taping off his apartment. Animal attack, seems like. Her father, in a rare instance of being home, had lifted his brows and said so young, too.

In the end, Louisa took the car. It had been easy enough; he always parked it down the side alley, keys always in his pocket. That they keys had dropped themselves unceremoniously into her possession was a matter best not discussed.

She shows up in it one weekend, with her hair shorter than Gerty will remember it being. The trunks loaded with road trip essentials; blankets, cheap snacks, water, beer and guns. Her parents, as usual, are half way across the country with a credit card left behind. It's the nice thing to do, driving all the way to give it back. Louisa is selfless, like that. That she intends to half max it out somewhere near Vegas first is of no consequence. She doesn't text first; however Gerty's powers work, she fully expects Gerty to know she's coming. Somehow. The windows are all down, her arms folded on the sill and her chin resting on them after she pulls up and honks the horn no less than six times. ]
