But he wasn't ready to see his family, and to be honest, he didn't know when he would be ready.

In hindsight, it had been a whirlwind - of being in constant trouble, only to realize how deeply in such a short time that Aoba had come to care for Clear. For Aoba, who knew "where" he belonged, could still understand the feeling of not belonging.

In that dim time when he tried to repair Clear with his own two hands, despite knowing how impossible it was for him to accomplish, he'd desperately wanted to...

No, it wasn't even for that reason. He couldn't even argue against that selfishness.

Instead, he'd handed him over to Granny and an old colleague of hers and prayed.

Even now, Aoba sometimes remembers those feelings that circled about in his head. The desire to show Clear that he belonged somewhere, if only he chose to be. The time when Clear had been, effectively, dead, shed some light on that whirlwind "romance", if that could even be called such.

He allowed himself time to come to his own realizations, and grieve for the fact that Clear might never come back again.

But, he had come back. That had been a month ago.

Although he hadn't made his own feelings known, lest they be torn away again, the most Aoba had been comfortable with was the touch of Clear's gloved hands or a brush of lips against his own.

For now, they were out and about, with Ren kindly lending navigation to this little stand that Aoba had been to once and then promptly, accidentally forgot where it was.

It wasn't much. Aoba wasn't too terribly inclined for sweets, but he couldn't resist the urge to at least... share something with him. The daifuku stand seemed nice enough, the rice almost sweeter than the paste inside (strawberries).

But, it was more than just wanting to buy it FOR Clear. Bit by bit, Aoba was coming to realize his own... inclinations. And the daifuku was just big enough for him to have wanted to come back with the suggestion.

"...Hey, maybe... do you want to eat it together with me, Clear? I-I mean, you don't have to. Maybe it's a dumb idea...?"

[ Being poked and prodded by people who don't seem to know what they're doing when it comes to robots isn't conductive to his mood. Being subjected to questioning and the occasional test in what he sees as a total waste of time is also not helping his mood any.

It had taken him a fair amount of arguing and butting heads and exasperated promises to 'not take her out in public too often' or something to convince these people to actually let them live in a separate building at all, let alone an apartment of some kind. But, well, it's happened. ]
