ANGST MEME

Sometimes we all want to play some angst and see just how far our characters can and will fall.

- Post your characters, name and series in the subject along with any preferences.
- Go to random.org and roll.
- Play!

1. just depressed.
Things are tough, you're feeling worn out, or whatever the case, you're depressed. You need help or someone else thinks you do anyway.

2. abandoned.
You were left behind by everyone you hold dear and now you're forced to see how well they've adjusted, how happy they all are while you're screaming inside.

3. sick.
Cold, flu, or something even worse, all you can do is lay back and let someone take care of you.

4. fight.
You've been fighting nonstop with the other person and it just keep escalating.

5. break up.
You're being broken up with and they won't reconsider... Damn.

6. separated.
For some reason, you've been separated from the other person for a long time.

7. kidnapped.
You've been held captive for how long now? Maybe they've been torturing you even, using your blood to write ransom notes, threatening to cut off fingers to send next, etc. Rescue is on the way though, right?

8. beaten up.
Just because someone didn't like you or maybe they wanted something you had, whatever the case is, you're coming home sporting some nasty wounds and bruises.

9. jealousy.
You just have this undeniable jealousy suddenly and you need to let it out.

10. cheated on.
This goes beyond just suspicion and you have full on proof of what your lover has done. How do you handle it?

11. apathetic.
You're not sad, you're not happy, you just... don't feel much anymore. The sparkle of life has gone right out of you and you're just going through the motions now.

12. addicted.
Drugs, alcohol, whatever your drug of choice is, you can't fight the draw and you can't draw yourself out of the hole, but the other person is going to try.

13. bad romance.
You know this isn't good for either of you, but you can't stop now.

14. fear.
Nightmares, the feeling someone is following you, etc. You can't shake the feeling.

15. insanity.
You're seeing things and hearing them, waking up only to realize you've done things you don't remember or you're in a place you weren't before. You're losing it and you don't know what to do.

16. guilt.
It's eating you up inside and you have to tell someone about it now. You want to be punished and you won't take no for an answer.

17. loss
You've lost something dear to you.

18. wild card.
Combine some options or make your own!

Natasha could write books on fitting in. Not to mention having a knack for certain things, from languages to more ... intimate pursuits. A childhood in the Red Room had given her the upper hand in terms of those skills, whether she wanted it or not.

"College is never as interesting as people say," she noted, an amused quirk to her lips. "Fitting in -- I think we all want that, deep down."

College had been the first place Emily had fit in, even if only for a little while. It wasn't until the FBI that she'd truly felt comfortable. "It had it's moments." Of course, she couldn't say where she'd gone, not right now. "Mostly being away from home." And her mother.

Never having had a home, Natasha couldn't really comment on the idea of leaving it. Not honestly, at least. "It's freedom. Home is wonderful, but autonomy will always be better." She waved around the street. "The back streets instead of the tourism sectors."

Home had always been tension and unfulfilled expectations for Emily. Until the BAU, home hadn't been anything to, well, write home about. Emily sighed softly and reached for her now empty wine glass. Seeing its state, she refilled it, then held the bottle over an empty water class, offering some to the other woman. "Too much autonomy and you can become aimless."

"Is that necessarily a bad thing?" She accepted the wine gladly, nursing the glass between her hands before taking a sip. "Too many things try to use us, cage us. Aimlessness is just our having complete control of ourselves."

Not profiling new people was an impossibility. Emily wondered just what it was that had kept her new friend caged. Tough as she appeared, it could very well have been physical and not just psychological captivity. She shrugged. "Complete control with no purpose."

Cages are curious, horrible things. Even when the bars are gone, they still manage to keep you inside. Natasha had tried flying from her cage a few times, but she always ended up coming back, at a loss of what to do with her newfound freedom. "We can make our own purpose."

By that measure, Emily was in a cage that was at least partially of her own making at the moment. She could go anywhere she wanted so long as it wasn't home. Em bit her lip, then let out a long sigh. Double tell time was definitely a bad sign. "Oh yeah? Got any good ideas? I've been feeling a bit at a loss."

She shrugged, still sitting easy, though her eyes were somewhat distant. "Business is always the simple choice. I've tried it a couple times. Charity work, as well. Saving others can be strangely rewarding."

Rather than responding to that expression, one that made Emily want to hit someone on Natasha's behalf, she groaned loudly and rolled her eyes. "Not charity work. I don't think I could stand it." It wasn't that Emily didn't care about helping people, of course, but her experience with charity work was based largely on working on big fundraisers with her ambassador mother. Everything was so artificial.

[personal profile] redledgerdays 2012-07-12 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
Natasha couldn't help but smile at that reaction. "Charity is what you make of it. It's different things for different people." She tapped the newspaper. "Same as how one story can mean so much to one person and be meaningless to another."
intrigues_girl: (Acceptance)

Emily didn't look down where Natasha tapped. She didn't have to. Instead she worked to keep from swallowing hard at the burst of pain that having her team pointed out to her caused in her chest. The spot was right where Ian had burned her skin.

"Maybe I could find something useful to do. It would keep me out of trouble." The last bit was spoken in Russian.

She laughed at that, impressed by the woman's resolve. Whatever her connection to the ones in this story, she didn't show her cards. Strong woman.

"But not too much, she replied in Russian, finishing her drink. "Life is boring without trouble."

Strong woman with an uncanny ability to compartmentalize. Still, Emily sighed softly. She was tired of living quietly and hiding everything about herself to keep safe. Not that she had any intention of outing herself, but she had to do something. "Maybe getting in a little trouble would be good." She glanced sideways at Natasha. "Interested?"

I was wondering when you'd ask. She grinned - a true, honest grin - and pushed away from the table, offering a hand to Emily. Your call, Evelyn.

This was probably a very bad idea. Of course, on the other hand, if she was anything like what Emily thought she was, another government's operative or an independent of some sort, she probably needed a break just as badly as Emily did.

"It should involve drinking and dancing." She smirked. "And men being very sorry they won't be going home with us.]

"All sound like just what I was waiting for." Nat wasn't a big party person, true, but sometimes it was nice to just ... get out and do something. She doubted there'd be any trouble, either, with Emily along. The woman was some sort of special ops -- she had to be -- and if she was as concerned about that news article as she was pretending not to be, then getting lost in some dancing and drinking wasn't the worst that could happen.

Natasha started down the road, waving for Emily to follow. "I know just the place. The boys will be beside themselves when we leave, I promise you."

Emily threw a few bills on the table to pay her bill. She took a last look at the paper, but decided to leave it behind. She would always carry her team with her. She didn't need those pictures. "They'll talk about us for years after." There was something wonderfully ironic in that.

Nat just nods, guiding the other woman down the street with a broad smile. It almost feels normal. Emily almost feels like part of the team. "If they don't, we'll just write the stories ourselves."
