The Mech Pilot AU Smut Meme A.K.A. a Pacific Rim-style smut meme The stakes, whatever they may be, are high. Most likely, the apocalypse is looming on the horizon: giant aliens are attacking, giant monsters are attacking, an oppressive government is threatening a rise, or game with real-world consequences. Humanity has only one hope in the form of giant robots. Somehow, it's been decided that you are one of the choice few who will be able to pilot such a massive machine, whether though destiny, skill, or birth. But you won't be alone. These mechs require two pilots - two pilots in complete compatible tandem or "drift," and not just anyone will do. So there is only one perfect match for you. This process cannot be a blunder. The lives of billions are counting on it. The mech is a part of you both, becoming this way via neural interfaces and tech, so you must be in synch perfectly in thoughts and memories...and in physicality. You see, the robots run off the power of sexual contact between pilots, in the cockpit. The two must become one. Training, of course, is encouraged; you must get used to being with each other and with getting residual emotions, fantasies, and feelings. Outside sex and intimacy is expected, though you may not have the same equipment or suits on your person as you do in your mech. Still, whether you're finding your perfect co-pilot, training, in the heat of battle, or taking care of each other after the fight, all moments matter. Ever since Cybuster was heavily damaged with its pilot, Masaki could no longer fly solo. Even if his body recovered quickly, the prana, the energy he used to pilot the machine, wasn't stable inside of him. It left him in quite a conundrum. At least until he was assured another pilot was found.

The idea was simple: both pilots had to share the amount of prana being put into Cybuster. Considering the looming threats, Masaki couldn't ignore the idea and charge solo. Simply using a single special attack may get himself killed without a partner.

Hence why he went to meet the new pilot ASAP. He wanted to get back out there in the fight. And as much as he didn't like relying on others like this, he was sure they picked someone suitable for him.

Unfortunately...he got lost around the base, again. Even his cats, Kuro and Shiro, lost track of him. He kept looking at the map near him and where he was.

"So wait, if I turn left, I'll be--no no, I'd be back at the cafeteria again. But then right puts me back near the command center, I think..."

In what was soon to be his previous life, Khanon was a politician, and going through the testing to determine if he had the ability to become a Jaeger pilot was supposed to have been nothing more than a publicity stunt. It wasn't supposed to reveal that he was one of their best prospects, assuming he could be matched with a suitable copilot. Though, he supposed, at least if he survived this, he wouldn't have been putting his career on hold for nothing - the voting public all loved a war hero.

By now, however, the process of trying to find a copilot for him had taken so long that, since he hadn't resigned his office yet, he was starting to hope he wouldn't need to. Then, earlier today, the call had finally come down that they had a prospective match.

Said potential match would be coming to Khanon's residence to meet him, instead of doing it on base, because for now, Khanon still had the luxury of demanding not to be treated like a science experiment - well, for the most part, anyway. On his wrist was a bracelet containing sensors that would gather biometric and drift compatibility data - his potential copilot would be wearing one like it - which he'd have to upload for analysis after their little... encounter, but for now he'd managed to put that part out of mind. For now, he was focused on actually putting forth an effort to make sure this went as well as possible. He had just finished setting out the ingredients for dinner - a hot-smoked duck recipe which looked considerably more complex and impressive to make than it actually was - when security buzzed him to let him know his guest had arrived.

The smile with which Khanon greeted Balder at the door looked completely genuine. "Welcome."

Trepidation clings to Balder's every step as he approaches the door. Despite willing submitting himself for the Jaeger Initiative for the sake of a greater good, the former Lumen Sage is nervous. He's nervous for good reason since this is the first time he ever traveled out of Virgid. Literally ignorant of the politics of the outside world beyond Virgid, Balder was honestly surprised to hear that they found a suitable co-pilot in the form of some brash politician. This surprised the priest especially since this co-pilot is allegedly male as well

Just the thought of continuing with this debacle with another man makes Balder far too nervous for comfort. While the Lumen Order don't exactly shun same-sex relations, they certainly don't condone them either. So for the first time in Balder's life, he's disobeying the teachings of his faith.

And he feels dirty for doing so. Very dirty.

"Greetings." He says quietly once the door swings open. Still dressed in his ceremonial white and gold robes, Balder literally looks as if he stepped out of another age. The Lumen Sages go unnoticed by the rest of the world and live their lives separate from ordinary humans. Due to their magic, the Sages can hide themselves in plain sight using invisibility. So Balder is quite aware that he doesn't look quote on quote "normal" in modern opinion. He's quite tall, lanky and a little too pale. However, Balder does carry himself with uncommon grace and with that strange bracelet upon his wrist, there's no denying that Balder is Khanon's partner.

[ yes, please! is there anything sticking out at you? maybe putting a canon twist on it that steve doesn't pilot anymore since bucky "died", but now they're trying to work on actually doing it together again. or something to that effect? idk i'm game for whatever you feel like! also it's been ages since i've seen this film, so bear with me. ]
