They were on your front door, in your yard, or on the street, confused and clearly in no position to fend for themselves; in a worst case scenario, they were bruised and battered, possibly close to death. Bleeding heart or not, you can't just be so cruel as to let them suffer. They need a place to stay, and you'll open your home to them...long enough to get back on their feet, anyway.

Speaking of feet, the shoe could be on the other one. You're worse for the wear - in a new place, possibly injured, certainly not in the best state of mind. You could not even remember how you got here or who you are to get here, for that matter. You may not want to remember. Whether willing or not so willing, you're in no position to turn down help, especially if said helper won't take no for an answer. No matter how dedicated you are to looking after yourself, there's only so much you can do in your position.

The two of you are staying together, at any rate. Only for a while, the plan is. But after said while, even though strength and confidence is returning to the injured, there's something a little different between you two. It could be the close quarters, the kindness shown, or a number of things, but quietly, softly, feelings have grown. Could more confusion and hurt spring from this? What about when it's time to go? Can the temporary resident leave as easily as they intended? You're so close now, perhaps a little while longer can't do any harm...

...until whatever it was that put them in such a perilous position in the first place comes back, and there could be "justice" for anyone who's dared to help.

[ Kija's village had found Kazuma bloody, beaten, and unconscious in a road not too far away. With bandits being a occurring problem around these parts, it's easy to deduce what might have happened to him. Though, he could be one himself. it's a risk taking him in, but leaving him out to rot wasn't an option.

When he wakes up, it's inside a dimly-lit room that smells of incense. His body feels heavy, like it's been drained and re-filled with solid lead. It's painful to move, but instincts are driving him to get up and back on his feet, like a young animal who knows that if they stay on the ground too long, they'll fall prey to roaming predators.

He manages to prop himself up on his knees before the paralyzing pain of broken ribs splits through his nervous system. He falters, keeling over and bracing himself on a bandaged hand against the cushion of his bed.

And that's when he finally realizes that he's been treated. Lifting his arm back, he turns his hand over to examine the handiwork of the dressing. Confusion sets in, overwhelming his survival instincts. ]

[ Strangers were both fascinating and daunting for a person who's never left his village. Feeling a mixture between concern and suspicion, Kija's been checking on this intruder periodically. The shoddily-made bandages - loose and messy on some ends - were also his handiwork, and that's part of why he keeps coming back to see if they had slipped off. While there were many skilled doctors in the village, Kija had turned their services away. Since he had found this stranger, he's taken the responsibility of dealing with him - whether it's caring for him or eliminating him if he's a threat - upon himself. It's really a whim of his. He's lived such a pampered life that there are times he grasps at any opportunity to feel independent.

For most of the day, nothing had changed. The stranger continued to lay there unconscious. It's right after Kija considers the fact that he might actually be dead (kija pls, check his pulse before you decide these things) that Kazuma's body finally twitches, and he appears to stir.

Kazuma will find Kija there staring at him (the people in Hakuryuu all had silver hair; it's not often that he sees hair in this shade of brown). He appears perplexed at first-- ] Ah!

[ And then he slips into character. ] I see you've finally woken up. Now, state your purpose for entering my village immediately! Depending on your answer, I, the White Dragon, will decide whether to let you live.
