B O D Y G U A R D

the bodyguard meme

You're a pop star, or a royal, or maybe even the last of your kind who will bring about the Earth's redemption. Whatever the case may be, you're in a position that may be a bit dicey if you attract the wrong kind of attention.

And you're a bodyguard, a soldier, a knight - a protector. Somehow, you've been roped into protecting this person. You'll be rewarded, of course. The work may be cut out for you, but just do your job, keep your head down, and it'll go smooth.

Except for when the two of you break the bounds of professionalism and feelings begin to flourish. Being in such close quarters may get you to see the other in a different light, and saving someone's life just may be the ultimate form of intimacy.

Could this be the real danger? To feel so strongly for the one you've sworn to protect...are you compromised?

How to Play
1. Comment with your character and preferences, being sure to put if you want to play the guard, the guarded, or either. Also, you may want to put if you prefer fluffy, angsty, or smutty interaction - or have no preference.
2. Comment to others.
3. There are no prompts, because there are so many potential options there could be a hundred. Feel free to play anything: the beginnings of the relationship, just meeting, getting used to each other/not getting along at first, the obligatory first time, a threat on the protected's life and how their protector responds, how the feelings between the two has changed the protection, etc. Your only limit is you.

[With his hood on the sudden light didn't bother his eyes so much, though it was always difficult going from darkness to light. Usually it went the other way around he went from the bright outside to a dark London factory or home. He put an arm out in front of her and pushed her back to take the first few cautious steps inside.

The modern world was very drab in his opinion. Everything was bare and sleek, no texture and warmth to anything. He didn't miss the opulence of London but there was a sense of comfort that the modern world didn't have.]

You think we'll be fine. I'm not taking any chances.

[Not with her, at least. She was the only ally he had in this time. If something happened to her, he'd be utterly without help. That would be disastrous for him and his chances of getting home.]

How could I forgot about chivalry. [ Lucy sighed with some sarcasm as she was pushed back and made to wait. She frowned at the back of his hooded head and then rolled her eyes. Honestly, he was worrying over nothing.

Her elbow nudged him in the back.
]

If you don't want to be taking any chances... you might want to take off the hood...

[ Or she'll do it for him, reaching up as she's pushed to her tiptoes to try and tug it down. ]

[He caught her wrist before she could touch the hood. This was an unknown area where they were trying to be stealthy. Jacob was not taking off the hood.]

Leave it. [He kissed the palm of her hand before he released her and then patted her on the head.] It brings out my eyes.

[It gave him a sense of control and confidence. This was the look of Jacob the assassin and not the charismatic gang leader. He much preferred it for something like this. When they faced the Council, perhaps then he'd take the hood down.]

Ha ha- that's funny. [ Doing that out in the open, it was dangerous. Kissing her palm, showing any kind of affection, as slight and possibly meaningless as it was, it could be used against her. Or them. Though, Lucy couldn't bring herself to scold him.

Instead, she frowned. Next time he patted her head like she was a child, she was going to make sure he never did it again. Her knuckles bruising his jaw might help.
]

Let's just get this over with. [ It was easy to slip out from behind, gesturing that he follow her. Continue to be her shadow. Up until a young redhead spotted her and broke out into a smile, greeting Lucy by name in passing while casting a curious yet amused look at Jacob. ]

We might get this a lot, just so you're not confused.

[The red head put him on the defensive until she showed she wasn't a threat. Jacob watched her until she was out f sight and then looked back at Lucy.]

I thought you were a Templar, luv.

[No one here seemed to treat her like she was a Templar. They seemed to welcome her like she was another Assassin. Jacob wasn't sure what to make of that.]

[personal profile] juno57 2016-02-11 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
[ Lucy sent him a look. She didn't need to tell him to keep it down and keep that to himself. No reminder was necessary. But she did stop and turn to face him, arms out. ]

Use your eyes, Jacob, your real eyes. What does it tell you?

[ She liked to think of herself as either or. What he didn't know was that she wanted out, it just wouldn't be an easy thing to accomplish. ]

And keep your voice down.

My real eyes tell me you're something else.

[Most disturbing his eyes told him that the people around them weren't exactly allies either. He wasn't sure what to make of that. They were Assassins they should be allies, not potential threats. It worried him about what they might be walking into.

He didn't let any of that show, of course. He walked the halls with his usual confident swagger and attitude. Half the trick to blending in was acting like you belonged. Jacob was good at confidence even if he didn't feel it.]

No one's in range to listen, luv. I am paying attention.

[ She frowned at him and then sighed. Well...she supposed being something else was better than outright being shown to him as a Templar. It had to do with the fact that she played for both sides, she figured, the knowledge messing with his Eagle Vision. ]

Still not sure how I'm supposed to feel about that. [ Lucy shook her head; the sooner they got to the council, the faster they could get out of here. She was too tense, like she was anticipating an attack that could come out of nowhere, even if that was a foolish thought with how welcome she was. ] Either way... We should continue, their main chamber is down the hall ahead of us.

[The point was to ask the Council for help but he could see the tension in her. She didn't feel safe and it put him on guard. The people around them were his people, assassins, but he kept watching them, anticipating an attack. He wouldn't let anyone hurt her, not when she had risked so much to help him.]

Should I let you do all the talking? [Jacob had a wicked clever tongue but he wasn't an idiot as much as he appeared. He knew sometimes other people needed to speak. He had a way of offending people and he didn't know any modern customs. He could quite easily mess this up.]

[personal profile] juno57 2016-02-13 08:46 am (UTC)(link)
For the first bit, yes, until they address you themselves.

[ And just outside the door Lucy paused, looking up at him. She opened her mouth as if to say something, a word of caution perhaps, anything, and nothing came out. As much as she wanted to tell him that he would be great in there, she couldn't. All she could do was press a hand to his chest, patting lightly with assurance.

The Assassins knew all about what the Templars were doing with the animus, the memories of the ancestors, the participants going back in time. No one came forward.

One last look and she began reaching for the keypad. This was it. She hoped he was ready, already going over in her head what she would say.

Oh, good.

[He had only faced the Council once in his life and that was more than enough for Jacob. They were all very talented Assassins but they were too used to staying out of the fight and had no real sense of how things were out there in the real world, in the real war against the Templars.

He wondered if the modern Council would be any different. Judging by Lucy, maybe they weren't.]

[ If there was ever a face among the higher ranks that Lucy was happy to not see, it was William Miles. She'd held her breath on the way in with some anxiousness that the older man would be there. Oh how she was pleased to find his presence lacking.

Two more doors sat at opposite sides of the room as it was spread out, handy exits to other rooms or hallways, a table in the center. The chairs were empty, the council members standing and in the middle of what felt like a heated discussion. There stood five in total present. And at the sound of the door closing behind Lucy and Jacob, they fell quiet.

Jacob's style of attire wasn't one they were used to seeing; it showed in some of their surprised and even amused looks. Like he was a new recruit who took the position a little too seriously.
]

Lucy. You're in late this evening. If you're looking for Bill then I'm afraid you just missed him. I see, however, that you've brought a...guest. What can we do for you?

[ She stepped forward, shaking her head. ] I didn't come here to see William. I'm afraid he wouldn't be able to help me. Or my friend- [ Lucy gestured for Jacob to come closer. ] -his name is Jacob.

[ A few of the councilmen exchanged looks and shifted them to Jacob, Lucy's so called friend. ]

It's...a tricky situation to try and explain. We're hoping that once we've explained everything that we'll be able to work on a solution.

[ The eldest one, a woman with graying hair and lines near her eyes, her face stern, spoke up next out of all of them. There was a reason for why she was still in trim shape for her age and second in command of the group, looking all serious and all business as she looked directly at Jacob when she spoke, as if addressing him. Lucy knew she was sizing him up and judging by the look she wore on her face, she didn't appear too thrilled that he was there. ]

And what exactly is this mess you've gotten yourself into this time? Really, boy- [ The woman was now speaking to Jacob, frowning in disapproval, motioning sharply to his robes. ] -I might almost think you're making a mockery of what we stand for, dressed as you are.

[ Lucy wished the woman had followed Bill and taken her leave earlier on so she could speak with the more rational and less ignorant councilmen, quietly bristling at the attitude she was giving them. Condescending, treating them like they were mere children.

Second in command or not, Lucy wasn't going to sit back and let her talk to them that way. She began to interject:
]

That isn't-
