| Some characters can't just rush into things, especially things like love or sex. These characters need a partner who will take things slow, explore each other fully before taking the leap. They need someone they can trust. |
| Can you be the one they need? |
+ post your character, preferences, etc, with or without a prompt +
+ tag other characters, either replying to the prompt they supplied or supplying your own +
+ remember, just because you're taking it slow, doesn't mean you can both take the back seat +
+ be kind to one another, and patient +
+ enjoy +

Rogue had been in this world that wasn't hers for about a month now, and with this group of people who were trying to do so much good for all but a week of that. The first week had been a whole new hell for her - Hydra had picked up on her strange entrance into this universe and snatched her up, thrown her in a lab in one of its secret bases, and she'd been right back where she'd been for the past three years.
Strapped to a table under some mad scientist's knife. It had been pure luck that the Avengers had shown up to take down the base and taken her with them, though to be fair she'd been unconscious at the time and hadn't had too much say in the matter. And after that, no one had really known what to do with her. She could control her powers to a point, but some of them still saw her as a potential threat because she had them at all. Eventually she was offered a job, having once been a superhero in her own right, and she'd accepted - she'd be helping to train the new recruits for the new SHIELD still being established. No one wanted her out in the field just yet, herself included.
So that's how her days were now. She'd make the commute from the little apartment she'd gotten across the city, spend her morning whipping the agents into shape just like she'd done for her students for so many years, and then she'd do what she could to be useful. Usually that consisted of running errands and delivering things throughout the Tower, but she didn't mind the grunt work - she'd take anything to keep her occupied. And it gave her an excuse to see him.
Rogue didn't usually talk to Bruce, but she always noticed him, and not in the way the others did. She'd heard early on that he'd been the one to find her in that lab, or at least his big green counterpart had, and that had endeared the both of them to her. Being scared of Bruce and what he could become didn't even occur to her, because if anyone in that building was a monster, it was her, but even that thought didn't stop her from wanting to get to know him. Which was how she found herself wandering into the high-tech science lab he tended to work in, knocking on the door as she stepped inside.

It was amazing, the way that the universe constantly surprised him with whole new things he thought impossible. Especially since joining the Avengers, he'd learned to keep a very open mind when it came to the unlikely, and even the absurd, although even then, the possibility that someone could cross from one universe to the other still came as something of a surprise.
Not that they knew, at first, or that the Hulk would've seen the difference when he'd found her. It was only later on, by talking to her and studying whatever information HYDRA had collected, that they realized what they were dealing with. Sadly, they had no idea how she had ended up here, or how to revert that process so she could go back. It was a good thing that she adapted so well, and instead of sitting around and waiting for something that might never happen, she actually took to integrating herself in this new reality - or at least, the best she could, considering her abilities.
And those were nothing short of fascinating to Bruce. He'd be lying if he said that his initial interest in her hadn't been born of that, but he had quickly grown to care about her more than whatever she was capable of doing. Still, he studied what he could from the information at that HYDRA base, all of it carefully kept away from greedy hands and prying eyes, and any digital information kept under lock and key - she'd been used and tested on more than enough as it was, the Avengers would make sure it wouldn't happen again.
But for Bruce, it was more of a scientific curiosity than anything. Not just her power, but the way she had ended up here, even if the information HYDRA had gathered from that was incomplete to say the least. So right now, with a mug of tea in hand and some classical music playing softly in the background, he was sitting on a stool and looking at some complex scribbles on a whiteboard, futile attempts on his part to try and figure out how multidimensional traveling could even be a thing.
"Yes?" His answer came when he heard someone knocking, though it took him a couple of seconds to tear his eyes away from the board and glance over, only then seeing who it was coming in. "Rogue," he stood up, smiling at her as he set down the mug on a table nearby. "Hi. I didn't know you were coming by today."

"It was kinda a spur of the moment decision," she explained in her smooth southern drawl, giving him a smile in return. "Am I bothering you? I can come back some other time." She always worried about bothering him, or any of the others. The need to be useful and not get in the way had started when she was a child passed around through foster care, and it had sprung right back into full force in this new world.

His smile just then was more for her than anything else, though. It was small and brief but it was true, and when she asked if she was bothering, he just shook his head, gesturing for her to step farther into the lab. "No, don't worry. I wasn't doing anything important." Even if the place still looked a little messy, and he promptly started gathering some of the papers he had scattered about. "How are you, how's-- how's things? Settling in a little better now?"

He had no idea what he was doing, but at his core, Teddy just wanted to see Billy smile.
"Did you decide on something to watch?"
no subject
They can't watch some documentary, not when they don't get to do this that often to begin with.
From his perch on Teddy's bed, he watches him pull out what is practically every snack known to man ( and adored by dentists ) and thinks he's either going to overheat from excitement or overdose on sugar before their movie night is over.
"Uh, Hoje Eu Quero Voltar Sozinho, but it's in Portuguese." Which is absolutely one of the movies he labelled as 'romantic' and shelved first, but it's that or Black Fish and he knows for a fact that isn't going to fly right now. It doesn't mean he isn't fidgeting, though, elbows resting on his knees and hands tangled in his lap.

Really, Teddy had just been looking forward to hanging out like this since they'd both found a day and time that fit into their schedules. If the movie choice made Billy happy, then Teddy was happy. "But what goes with Hoje Eu Quero Volta-ar Sozin-ho?" He knew he flubbed up the pronunciation but hoped Billy wouldn't hold it against him. Kicking off his shoes, Teddy Sat down on his mattress, suddenly not sure what to do with his arms and legs. God, why was he so big all of a sudden?
no subject
With the bloom of warmth in the pit of his stomach. Billy shifts to give Teddy some space to work with, leaning back against the headboard. What does go with Hoje Eu Quero Voltar Sozinho? Everything? Teddy in particular, actually, but supplying that as his answer would be too on the nose. Eyeing the snacks Teddy brought back with him, he finally settles.
"How about the Twizzlers and popcorn? Something fun and something familiar, you know? And it'd be fun to try them all out." Because Billy wasn't aware they came in three different flavors either and he doesn't really want the popcorn to get cold.
"Hey, c'mere," said as he reaches out to tug a little on Teddy's sleeve. They're going to have to crowd in close to watch the movie on his laptop, after all, and that's maybe only a tentative excuse.
