[When Mark Watney comes back from his field trip with the Pathfinder, he'll find he has an impossible visitor in the Hab. The Doctor sits on one of the plastic boxes with one long leg hooked over the other, fiddling with what passes as a modern laptop in this day and age. It's very bulky. Quaint. (Personally he finds it this side of adorable, with excellent taste in music).

When Mark makes it through the airlock, he'll arrive with the sound of Donna Summers and "She Works Hard for the Money". The Doctor, in the meantime, has grabbed one of the potatoes and he's busy pointing his sonic screwdriver at it, seeing if the poor thing can be improved.

He looks up at the hiss of the hatch. ]

Oh! Hello! Was wondering when you'd turn up! [The Doctor heads over to Mark, all smiles] These need work.

[He holds up the potato, as if it isn't a miracle it's there in the first place]

[ It would be a lie to say that Matthew had not, upon first glance at the infamous Hondayota, wondered whether it was actually safe to climb inside--Ronan's BMW, Declan's Volvo, this was not--but he could hardly be picky, bumming a ride off of one of Ronan's friends because his brother hadn't been able to take him himself. "You can still go see mom; you'll be fine in Cabeswater with Adam" he'd said, which Matthew chose to believe meant Ronan was sure about them being fine getting there too. And he didn't know if Adam had been asked or volunteered but it was cool of him either way so Matthew had not voiced his concerns about the vehicle.

What he had voiced was a word he wasn't supposed to say (but that both of his brothers had been getting a free pass on for many years now), when the car had made a sudden very Not Right noise and then shuddered off to the side of the road right around in-the-middle-of-nowhere Virginia. Now that his his heart's stopped thudding and his eyes have returned to their usual level of roundness, he asks Adam-- ]

Should we try to call somebody?

[ If the owners of this quaint roadside diner didn't know any better, they would say Homra brought nothing but bad business. But with Homra's ridiculous appetite (Kamamoto has licked ten bowls clean and counting), the sudden influx of dangerous tattooed men in the shop has been one of their liveliest days in months. But to these shop owners, these men weren't dangerous at all. First of all, they were friends with one of Homra's core members, the late Tatara Totsuka. ]

We'd often stop by on our way to the farm.

[ The farm Totsuka's friend runs is two and a half more hours away, so they'll need their strength first. Totsuka may not be with them, but Homra's not one to forget a favor. This summer trip is a vacation as much as it is an errand. Helping out at the farm is nothing Yata hasn't done, though.

As they sip on their drinks, he and Asuna watch Izumo talk to the owners—a sweet old couple—and gift them a present for their troubles. ]

[ Sometimes, a lull in saving the world is good for a trip away from the Avengers HQ, and it's been an interesting sort of bonding experience, him and Wanda and his bike. Steve's pretty sure Sam and Nat both had something to do with preoccupying the rest of the team so they'd been the only two to actually go, but as he doesn't have proof, it's not something he tries to dwell on too much. If he'd had a choice, he'd have taken her to Coney Island, but the boardwalk just isn't the same as it had been when he'd been a teenager. So, they tour a bit further south, and somehow, they'd gotten sucked into one of those very touristy local places on their way through when they'd stopped for lunch.

Steve's trying to blend in as best as he can, but the ball cap and civilian clothes can only do so much for him. He keeps close to Wanda though, eyeing the rack of merchandise in the back of the store almost skeptically. ]

Do you think anyone actually buys this? [ Right now? He's poking at some of the magnets with names written on them, and honestly, they're kind of tacky. ]
