Ah, rain—the precipitation that the whole world has a love/hate affair with. It waters the garden for free and ruins baseball games. It cools you off in the summer and it causes more ice and sleet to appear in the winter. Sometimes it is lovely and falls at a decent pace for a few hours, other times, it blasts the whole eastern seaboard away.

Poems and songs have been written about it, people have danced in it, others have cursed its entire existence, and still more refuse to go out and drive in it.

Now it’s time to roll some dice and see what the weather will have in store for you today.

1. DRIZZLE ☂ It’s not too heavy or too light of a downpour, just enough to wash away stuff in the air, water the ground, and clean up the streets.

2. MONSOON ☂ It’s horrible and awful! Rain is coming down in buckets, no one can get anywhere, the wind is whipping everything about, and now the cable is out.

3. SHOWER ☂ Reminds you of early spring, doesn’t it? A nice shower to make everything all green and smell fresh again. Lovely.

4. FLOOD ☂ While rain is good, it can sometimes be bad. Grab a boat!

5. CATS & DOGS ☂ You’re lucky with this one. It’s not the worst storm in the world, but it’s still pretty heavy. Be careful when driving!

7. THUNDER & LIGHTNING ☂ Loud, surprising, scary, ominous, comforting, fantastic to watch or listen to… some like thunder and lightning, others not so much. Of course, if this happens before a big confrontation, the universe is telling you something.

8. CAN’T GET WORSE ☂ You did not say that. You did not just say that. How many times does this need to be seen in movies and books before anyone learns?

9. STUCK ☂ No, no, no, no. This cannot be happening. What happened to the ten percent chance of rain? You forgot your umbrella and now you’re stuck in it!

10. RUINED PLANS ☂ You had all these wonderful plans to go outside, have some fun in the sunshine, do some errands, maybe a date… and the weather goes against them.

11. DANCING ☂ Sometimes rain is a cause for celebration, or you just feel like doing something spontaneous. Grab someone to join you and get wet!

12. RAIN BATTLE ☂ The most intense, important battles happen in the rain. Verbal spars, punching someone in the guts; it’s all dramatic and climatic. And no one slips.

13. DATE ☂ Aww, don’t let the weather ruin your date! It can be really romantic, being out in the rain, and it’s always fun to go with the flow.

14. A DAY INSIDE ☂ Sometimes, it’s just better to stay inside and enjoy something simple and easy like board games or catching up on TV shows, or maybe the bills.

[ Kasumi likes Rocket. She really does, even if she's pissing him off ninety percent of the time. He's the smartest raccoon she knows (he is also the only raccoon she knows), with a smart mouth to boot, but for the most part, she just enjoys sitting back and watching him and Peter bicker about whatever it is they've decided to bicker about that day. Peter never talked to Kasumi about his crew much beyond mentioning that they existed, but it didn't take much for her to see the kind of friendship they have going on once Rocket arrived. It's that kind of friendship that reminds her of some of the people on the Normandy crew-- the kind where you give each other shit all the damn time, but when it came down to it, you'd have each other's backs no matter what. Ultimately she's glad that Peter has that kind of thing going on for him, and she's glad to know one of his friends, too. Because any friend of Peter's is a friend of hers, or something.

There's a torrential downpour in Heropa this day, which is nothing out of the ordinary for the climate of the place. Usually, the rain can be refreshing, a nice break from the sun and heat, but in December there can be just a slight touch of chill to go along with it. Which still isn't saying much considering it's Florida, but it's there, and even so, a little rain isn't going to stop Kasumi, who is a Woman on a Mission today. The mission being: figuring out what the hell to give Peter Quill for Christmas. She has more than a few ideas, but she could use a second opinion. Which is why she makes her way over to the house where he and Rocket live--unfortunately, it's the middle of the day and still bright out in spite of the rain, which makes her teleporting over a bit difficult. But it's the only time that works in her schedule, since she'd wanted to talk to Rocket while Peter was at work (apparently, she knows his schedule, and apparently this conversation has to take place in person because she has to practice breaking into their house to leave presents without being detected).

In the end, she has to settle for teleporting into a dark shed in someone else's backyard and then making a run for their house. And then she comes in, soaking wet and all, through the bathroom window. Normally she's quiet about sneaking in, but the rain and wind were stronger than she anticipated, so there's a muffled voice from inside the bathroom as she gets in: ]

[ When she took off from the Louvre only an hour or so after her entire ridiculous party had arrived, it had been a beautiful, sunny day.

No, this is not the best beginning. The best beginning is, in fact, the beginning: a pretty young princess who is from one of those small, absurd little kingdoms with not much might but quite a bit of gold, sent by an older brother to smooth over diplomatic relationships with France, and possibly because being bored at home has caused some trouble for her.

And a pretty young princess who likes to slip her guards and take off into the streets, without thought or worry, without care, smiling and friendly to everyone, and generally this all works out very well in her favor. She has a dress that looks like someone who might live in France and work in France and who is not nobility might wear. She doesn't have any jewelry on.

All right, so now we're back, to the point where our two young friends here meet - which is to say, right when out of nowhere a screeching storm slams into the market and the rain comes out of nowhere, soaking her to the skin. She looks like a drenched cat just as she passes the man in the blue cape, and-]

[ sitting on the covered front steps of the abandoned house they've occupied for the night, mika takes in the scene. amid the torrent that pours down from the sky, light blindingly flashes and briefly lights the city ruins. in a way, the fallen and collapsed buildings have a stark beauty to them. the storm has changed the world from dull grey to sharp black and white. light and shadow. inside, the scene is a little similar. without electricity, they're forced to rely on candles. wicks flicker and gut as a draft runs through the house, creating long and short shadows.

he can see it almost as clear as day, but he can still imagine what it must look like. glancing back inside towards yuu, his eyes taken in the other teen and imagine what the flashes of light might be doing to his appearance. in his mind, he sees gleaming green eyes that dart around the room. the dark uniform melts into the shadows and he can just see the shifting of white glove covered hands. it's a pretty daydream, but hardly compares to what his vampire eyes actually see.

thanks to his eyesight, yuu is more vividly colored than the candles allow. those bright eyes are still a glowing green, but now they're visible in a pale face, just barely flushed by the cold air around them. his slim figure is covered by a fluttering cloak, and his hands are more obvious against the black. as the rain continues to pour outside, he beckons yuu to join him on the stoop. while the view of yuu in the shadows of the dark house, he'd also like to see yuu in the rain as the lightning continues to spontaneously illuminate the world around them. ]

[While it might not be raining hard enough to bother Arakita on his bike, it was probably not quite safe for Shimizu to be riding in too - so it's with pulling off the mountain road and waving for her to follow, he'll just lead them towards the closest bus stop. It should be big enough to fit them and their bikes, at least until most of the storm has passed.]

Charles sat in his chair, in deep thought with his chin against his tented fingers. Looking out at the brewing storm from the vantage point on top of the mansion. Sometimes he came up here to think and ponder. Right now, it would seem there was to be a storm ready to break upon them, but he didn't mind. The view was spectacular, one could almost feel the charged ions in the atmosphere readying themselves as the lightning display was still playing out far off.

He hadn't yet realized he was not alone on the roof. Beside him was another person, a mutant. They had just appeared out of nowhere, as if he was sitting on one side of a two way mirror and she was on the other.
