THE HELPFUL HOSTAGE (maybe) (hopefully) MEME!



One of you is just going about your normal routine. The other is having the worst day of your life.

Running from a wrongful accusation of murder? Wounded by your archenemy and looking for a place to hide? Need a pilot to go after those drug lords escaping across the border? Don't have time to go through the official channels? Find a hostage! And make them help you.

In this meme, one person desperately needs help. And, in order to get it, they grab another character. Off the street, out of their car, from a restaurant.

PROMPTS: (optional)
1 - MEDICAL ATTENTION.. You're bleeding, in pain and desperate, and you need medical attention. Right now. What will you do? Break into a private practice after hours? Find a darkened house or apartment with a convenient bathroom?
2 - SHELTER. The cops are after you. The temperature is dropping below -20. You're out in the middle of nowhere and you're starving. You don't have any options left - except for this.
3 - TRANSPORTATION. You need to get out of town. Fast. Can't buy a car, can't rent a car, can't take a bus - how do you leave?
4 - PROFESSIONAL SKILLS. You need a doctor. A lawyer. A pilot. A spy. And you know just the one. And you're going to get their help whether they want it or not.
5 - A HOSTAGE. You need a body to threaten. Maybe it's the President's daughter; maybe it's just someone off the street. Either way, it's leverage you're after. Maybe you'll turn them loose once you get to the border.
6 - FINISH THE CRIME. Get the manager who can open the bank vault. Or whatever else you need to commit your act of murder, sabotage and/or thievery.
7 - IT WAS AN ACCIDENT???? Fuck.
8 - CHOOSE YOUR OWN.

For the most part this doesn't change the way she's played on the surface at all, but it does change a lot of her motivations, and her Ultron history is not the history I play her with. In nearly all cases, it shouldn't make a difference. This does mean that I am 100% ok with canonmates not being Ultron compliant. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to PM me ahead of time. For the record, I am totally fine with playing her from after the events of Ultron, and assuming that things played out the way they did in the movie, it's underlying things that change.

Canonmates are awesome, but cross-canon is always welcome, too. Fine with AUing your character into her world, or AUing her into yours. Totally cool with past assumed CR to make the thread flow easier. Also fine with carrying over from game CR, other memes, PSLs, what have you. I'm cool with most things, so just go for it, and if we need to change anything I will PM you.

Natasha as the hostage taker makes the most sense, though she could absolutely let herself get taken hostage and play "nice" in order to gather information. She's done it before. As long as she doesn't have to take a call in the middle of it, it works well for her. XD

Prose is strongly preferred, but if you are a strictly actionspam person, I can work with that. I don't mind your tags coming in actionspam as long as you don't mind my tags coming back in prose. It's just far easier for me to write.]]

[Mike is an operative for an organisation that used to be better known in the 80s, called the Foundation for Law and Government. They're mostly underground now, but still operate with the premise: to help the helpless, to combat corruption in government, and to insert a small number of operatives to get things done undercover. Mike himself used to be an Army Ranger, but he was drugged into amnesia and still only has a small amount of memory about what happened in the years he lost. He knows he was involved in some black ops, but there are people out there who know him whom he doesn't know in the least. Feel free to play with any of that if you want! But as it stands, Mike does have a really sweet ride in the form of an AI housed in a 2008 Mustang that can change shapes.]

"I wish I could say this was my first time," said the guy from where he was tied. He could probably have broken out of the bonds, except he wasn't sure he wanted to. This looked like more a chance to learn more about just what the hell was going on, and that kind of info was rarely less than necessary. Especially in his business. "But I think I've got the kind of arms people like to tie up. Why don't you just tell me what's going on and I'll tell you if I need to be tied up?"

As if that would work. But it was worth a try, and he'd at least give it a shot. The woman had already given him a hell of a workout, and it illustrated just how rusty he'd gotten. FLAG cases didn't really tend to use every single one of his Ranger skills, and he'd let some things go by the wayside. Note to self: more sparring practice, he decided. He needed it.

[ Sinjir is an ex-Imperial loyalty officer (glorified torturer/investigator) from the Star Wars novel Aftermath. This can mean a few things.

1: Sinjir is on the run from the Empire and is grabbing someone to help him out. (Can definitely take place on Endor after the destruction of the Death Star, when he's trying to escape the moon and get elsewhere.)
2: Sinjir is a current loyalty officer in the Empire who's investigating disloyalty stuff and he's taken captive when he stumbles across something a little too close to the Rebellion. (Alternatively: Sinjir as a loyalty officer for the First Order, AU'd into the future, same scenario.)
3: Sinjir is a current loyalty officer in the Empire (or the First Order) who was captured by the Rebellion (Resistance) and who is escaping, and is taking a hostage to help him escape.
4: IDK, Sinjir can be kind of a rogue, a bit of a drunk, he can be a Republic operative post-defection from the Empire, he can hang around and be charming. I'm open to a lot of different scenarios. AUs are okay within the Star Wars universe, and without the Star Wars universe.

If romance is happening, m/m only; Sinjir is canonically only attracted to men. ]

Some days, it doesn't pay to get out of bed. Those days, she usually ends up shot. It's a disturbing trend in her life, but when things decide to go wrong, they go spectacularly wrong. Still, she's breathing. Breathing is good. Even if each breath feels like fire right now, thanks to the bullet in her back. She takes out seven, misses one, and of course that one gets a lucky shot off while she's getting the hell out of there. She'd be kicking herself if not for the strong suspicion that if these bullet fragments get to migrating, she's going to have a whole lot of trouble with a lung.

So, naturally, the thing to do is creep up behind a doctor leaving a hospital, tail him to his car, and press a gun to the base of his spine before he can actually get in. "Shouting would be a very bad idea right now."

As the young boss of a large criminal organization, Hakyoon's got plenty of crimes under his belt and not even a little bit of remorse to go along with them. Of course, he's always worked from the shadows, kept himself a secret so as not to paint a target on his back. So the fact that he was showing himself now, dressed in clothes far less luxurious than what he's used to and holding a tray of food... well. It's certainly an unusual sight. But when his men had reported that a strange man had been snooping around their territory for longer than necessary, he had ordered for the stranger's capture. It wasn't often that they got visitors, especially with their reputation.

He schools his features into one of careful anxiety, eyes wide with uncertainty as he knocks twice on the door leading to the room holding the man. His men had been thorough in handcuffing the stranger to the table bolted to the floor so he knows what to expect when he opens the door and timidly shuffles in, gaze held to the ground as he allows his hands to noticeably tremble while he holds the tray.]

I... I brought lunch... [He murmurs softly, fear apparent in his voice. He looks the part of a scared teenager ordered to bring the hostage his meal, not the ruthless man known to bring down his enemies without a single thought.]
