Slow burn is best
![]() On occasion, the fun in playing a romantic relationship is not actually playing the relationship proper, but the build up. The characters grow closer, frozen hearts can thaw, emotional barriers may fall, and insight is gained, both about self and potential partners... ...plus, it can be entertaining as all heck to play either a. awkward dancing around the subject, if your character is that type, or b. embracing all that warming up. A little of column A, a little of column B may scratch an itch you never knew you had. Play one little vignette in time. You may find yourself craving some more.

Dean Winchester | Supernatural | slight post-s5 AU | closed
Dean was still researching things, trying to find a way to get his brother out of Lucifer's HellCage. But research had never been his strong suit. That was Sammy's area of expertise. Dean was better with the physical, hands-on side of things.
Which is why he'd put in a call to a friend. She was better at the books than he was and maybe she'd be able to find something he missed.
The pair of them had been at the same task for weeks now, but nothing lead them anywhere useful. She had unintentionally become his temporary, semi-permanent hunting partner, tagged along on cases and filled a bit of a hole in his life, even if it wasn't enough. Nothing would be until he got his brother back, but the distraction was nice in the meantime, at least.
They're on the road again, headed to some small Ohio town to investigate some weird. Dean's driving, as usual, and has the radio blasting some AC/DC. "Any theories on what we're walking into yet?"

She wasn't much to look things over and find what they needed but sam did teach her well and she knew what she was doing. She scattered her brain looking for anything and everything she could find. Weeks had past but she couldn't give up, she knew if she did they would lose sam for good.
As she sat next to dean in the car she pointed " take a left, its up here. " the place they we're staying at."hell.. We're going to hell.." she knew they'd been there to many times but this time was different. Lucifer would kill sam not caring.
She tied her hair up " you ready?"

He pulls into a parking spot. "I was born ready." he throws her a grin before going to the clerk and getting a room. He grabs a duffel bag out of the trunk and leads the way into the room. Time to dress the part.

She made her way into the room undressing she put the clothes on he got her a tight little black dresd with heels and a jacket, putting the books and paper on the desk she flipped therw all the way to lusicr. " we're going for him.... We're going for sammy" as she tilted her head looking at him.

She sat at the end of the bed running her hand over her face with a sigh. Iz felt bad she couldn't figure this case out amd she knew Sam's life was at risk. " Sammy, taught me well Dean, but this... This is.different." she shook her head

Moving closer to him. " i know you wont talk to me, but for Sammy's sake take that anger and save him" she smiled softly "pie?"
no subject
He smirks at the last bit though. "Pie after we go to the station and get what details we can." he pulls out of her grip and gets back in the car.
no subject
She titled her head at him giving a pouting look " pie, and cheese burgers." with a small grin
no subject
"Of course." He smirks.
no subject
"Why did you give me this tiny little dress?" she mumbled "jeans and boots next time, Dean." she grinned
no subject
He shrugs slightly, "Well, you've got the legs, flaunt 'em." he winks and leads the way into the station. A couple brushed over comments and badge flashes later, they're in the back, talking details with the M.E
no subject
Asking the M.E questions and listening to him. " SO the real question is why are all these women disappearing all of the sudden?" she paused and waited for his reply with paper work and pictures she grabbed it and followed Dean. " lets get to hunting."
no subject
He listens to the M.E.'s information and nods, "We'll see what we can find, thanks for your time." he walks out with Izzy and nods once. "We start down in the woods where these people keep disappearing. This thing's got some kind of lair nearby and seems to be stocking up on it's food supply." And if they were lucky, some of the victims might still be alive.

As something big and black flew over them screaming like a mother.

Re: [ooc: feel free to time skip to later]
" The only way we can get to him is if we go to hell." she paused knowing dean wasnt ready for that but she was willing to do it if she had to. Iz knew though it would take both of them to get to him.
no subject
He shakes his head. "We need to talk to Cas. He might have more insight." He glances over at her, "put the books away for a night, Iz."
no subject
looking around for a min she crawled next to dean laying her head on his arm, "I am pretty tired though."

She sighed at him and moved closer closing her eyes from drifting off to the show they were watching.
no subject
He slides an arm around her shoulders and lets her lean against him. He isn't sure when he started letting her invade his personal space like this, but...it isn't the worst thing in the world. He keeps his eyes on the tv. He's not sure he'll be sleeping any time soon.

The next day as Izzy had gotten out of the shower, she changed and looked at the new file. Putting coffee on the table next to the bed for dean. " hey wake up, what is the case about?" She asked looking down at him smiling

Taking a sip of her coffee she yawned " this case is about these kids keep disappearing.... This is the 3rd one this month..." She sighed closing the file looking at dean... With a sad look on her face she then looked down again... This reminded izzy of the little boy In Her town that no one could find 10 years ago that was her older brother... Dean didn't have a clue about her past.
no subject
Without a word, he jacks her coffee and takes a few drinks from it. He's driving, he needs to be awake, okay? He hands it back and starts the car, pulling out of the parking lot. "Where're we goin'?"
no subject
Looking at him holding the paper in her hand. " we need to go to this town." She smiled a little " this thing has been taking small children into the woods And killing them." She shrugged

"Dean.... I need you to listen to me... Okay?" She spoke gently

"This thing between us.. Has to come to an end... I found out what happenes next and your not in this chapter." Her lip shivered when she had finally told dean he wasn't going with her and this was their last case together. Izzy was willing to give her life to make sure dean was happy and she wasn't quite sure why.
no subject
"What?" He asks sharply, turning to glance at her for a moment, "What the hell is that supposed to mean?" He cuts his eyes back to the road. "Cut the cryptic bullshit, Is! What's goin' on?"
no subject
"I'm going to hell to give him mine instead of Sam's" she looked at him grabbing his hand "and you're not coming, or talking me out of this. There is no other choice." She frowned at him
no subject
He runs a hand down his face, obviously frustrated. "Sam is the perfect vessel, Lucked won't take anyone else."
no subject
She knew dean needed Sam more then he did her and when he kept pushing her away every time Sammy's name came up she would get more and more frustrated with dean
no subject
He doesn't speak the rest of the way, besides a handful of questions about where they're going, a review of the case they're going to be working before they get there.
