The problem with exploring any number of planets was that there were always those silly shrines to some local god or another that an enterprising explorer might run across. How was one really supposed to know that taking a nice shiny trinket from one of those might incur the wrath of the dark chaotic fox spirit it belonged to? That said fox spirit in a human form might take an interest in a space traveler and show up whenever it damn well pleased?

Said interest was currently being manifested by the fox spirit being stretched out on Peter's bunk.

"If you humans or quasi-humans or whatever you are this century are determined to go wandering beyond your bounds, I really would suggest that you not go poking around anything that looks official. Not that a pirate like you understand what that means."

It stretched out lazily as if it owned the place. In its deceptively thin body, a person might think themselves capable of breaking it in half. Experience would prove such was not only dangerous but perhaps impossible.

"Try not to be a fool out there, Quill. The species that lived on this planet fancied themselves sensualists. Who knows what traps they left behind?"

The Nogitsune could be trying to help or hurt, maybe seeing what was soon to come and putting itself where events would benefit it most.
