-- Oh, yeah. Her phone. Kate cleared her throat and closed out of an active conversation with America that included a few too many personal details and caps-lock revelations about the night before (exclusive club; lots of tequila; cute boys). And, just for good measure, she popped quickly into her camera app and deleted the last few embarrassing selfies. Then, camera prepped, she entrusted this stranger with her phone.

Eh. If he stole it (or wrecked it) she could always get another. "Just, um, be sure to give the lens time to focus. I hate having blurry face."

Impatiently he waited as she sorted through the details of her no doubt boring existence until at last the phone was prepped and ready for him. He turned it around in his hand, located the camera button, and gave her a nod.

"Don't worry. I got this."

He then extended his arm. And then he extended it even more another four feet thanks to his own built in selfie-stick arms. With his other hand, he made a thumbs up and smiled.

And flash.

So that was odd. Cool, but a little odd. Like a mecha Mister Fantastic. It was all she could do to manage sneaking in before the flash and getting at least a corner of her face on-frame. If not, no one would ever believe it as anything more than a Google-mined prank.

In the flash's wake, she smiled a little too sweetly. And held out her hand.

"Thanks. Thanks a million. I owe you, Chromie."
cannoneer: (Is that right?)

His hand retracted and he returned the phone to her without so much as looking at the picture. This would not be the first time he had pulled off such a stunt. Everyone loved the selfie-trick in Jump City.

"Cyborg. Not a fan of Chromie. Also, you owe me a magazine."

"Hey. Jace--?"

Kate's voice lifted above the quite roiling murmur of the book shop. From behind a pale wood counter, a hip-looking young man with dreads raised his eyebrows in silent acknowledgement of his name. Without even glancing over her shoulder, she continued: "One mech mag for Mister Cyborg, here. On me. And while you're at it, chalk him up for a year's subscription too."

He wasn't the only one who wanted to show off. Jace mumbled something that might have resembled sure, Ms. Bishop but Kate couldn't be certain.
cannoneer: (No way)

What he had expected was for her to simply flash a charge card and take care of it for him. He didn't expect her to have pull with the staff. Though a year's subscription seemed a little much for a selfie. Not expensive, but definitely showing off.

"... ya know, a subscription might be a little much. Not that I don't appreciate it."

"A subscription's nothing. Bishop Publishing blows more on stupid little marketing mail-outs every month than they would on twenty subscriptions. But," she paused with one hand perched on her hip. Loose-fist. "If you really don't want it, I can axe it. Speak now, or forever hold your peace."
