Okay so we had this one where instead of going to 'gine he went to Elliot because we were planning on turning that into eventual threesomes, especially after Edgar and Rachel had their little trying again thing here. I think also at some point Elliot was supposed to sleep with Rachel and generally it was meant to be a "he brought them back together through the power of being too hot for one person to handle," IIRC?

Eileen is with her mother and step-father. The Queen of Clubs has shooed him from the office. Max is traveling with his family, and Toby is fighting off the flu.

There are literally no excuses left to keep him from risking an unbroken piece of his heart.

He makes it nearly all the way to the Outposts before he pulls over to get control of his nerves. Maybe it's a mistake, after all. Maybe it had been the alcohol talking. Maybe he had completely misread every little breath he thought was a sign and was simply risking one of the most important friendships left in his life. Maybe he should just keep going, enjoy the ride and visit Elliot the way friends visit without saying anything.

There's a smile along with the nerves in the back of his voice as he sits by the side of the road, phone nudged in and helmet slightly askew. "--hey. You home? Or are you busy?"

It's exhausting, actually being here to help raise a baby. He's known owes more to the other women he left behind than he can possibly repay, but it sinks in even more to be properly present for little Edgar's growing up. It's so, so worth it, but it's absolutely exhausting.

Hopefully it's also made easier by how often Edgar settles in with comforting touches, smoothing hair or nuzzling shoulders or, as now, simply draping in gentle affection against the living man's frame.

It's difficult, leading a revolution. It's difficult to parse through what really needs to be demanded and what can be let go of for the moment; what concerns and fears and doubts all spring from one source and what needs to be handled like a plethora of troubles. It's difficult to keep everyone's mind focused and sharp on the end goal when the world still seems so generally safe, largely undisturbed.

It's probably easier, Élise imagines, when you aren't also constantly being asked to remind people that your gender doesn't invalidate your opinions.

That's what has her snappish and snarling, most days, even after the meetings are done--even after the meetings are successful. Part of it, of course, is the necessity of being as abrupt and blunt and certain as a man in her position would be. It's just that most of it is sheer frustration for the fact she's working more than twice as hard as most of the Les Amis and still finds herself scrambling half the time to keep her voice properly heard.

There isn't really much of a reason to vent her anger at one of the few other women involved (for given values of 'involved). It's just there always seems to be some amount of proximity, when all is said and done. "Would you-- move that crap?" The single bottle of wine doesn't take up so much space, but it's a good fixed point to direct her frustration at. "I'm trying to work."

They don't run frequently in the same circles. It's often enough that they get in one another's orbit every so often, but it's not all the time. It's a rare enough occasion that, when they're on a trip to Hogsmeade, Ellie is going to bump elbows cheerfully against the Gryffindor when they get crowded into one of the corners of Zonkos.

It's a good thing they don't see each other incredibly often, Elise figures. Too much time together, and it would definitely become obvious that her eyes stick too long on the other girl and that it usually takes Jacob himself (not just Argi, not even just Andrea) to tear her attention properly away. And then where would they be?

This, at least, feels safe and easy--entirely normal social interaction. With a bright sparkle of a laugh bursting off Elise's lips at the greeting, admittedly, but that's fairly par for the course with the Gryffindor. "--oi! It's been ages."
