Fantasy AU Romance 𝔬𝔫𝔠𝔢, farther back in years than anyone alive could remember, there is a land that even time has forgotten, filled to the brim with magic and mystery both good and ill. This is where you make your home. Who you are in this kingdom - or many kingdoms - is as varied as the blades of grass that spread over this lush terrain. You could be a petulant princess, a delving dwarf, a highway man with more than a few secrets, a devoted knight, a mage of ancient spellcraft, or even an ageless elf. No matter your station, though, one thing is for certain: whatever life you lead, it's about to get a great deal more exciting. There is a war brewing, somehow, somewhere, and the peace of your homelands is . You are the only one who can set things right and go on a quest to save everyone.
Still, what is an adventure without an adventure of the heart? You are not alone, and you'll find that trying times can forge ironclad emotions. Of course, you'll find that the path of love is no easier here than anywhere else, be the person you admire an arranged fiancé you're not too fond of at first, a forbidden object of desire, a traveling companion, an enemy, a lifelong friend, an ally...or another species from you entirely. Yet, in any case, this is no time for romance, is it? Only moments can be stolen, and you must set aside your feelings for the greater good.
In this time, in this place, will you get your happy ending, or will this story prove to be a much darker fantasy?

He didn't know how long he'd been trapped in this tower, with only three books to read and a loom. The instruction manual for the loom was one of the books, but it was missing the first ten pages and Ulquiorra couldn't be bothered to try and figure out what kind of information he was missing.
Many, many knights, soldiers, mercenaries, wizards and even a unicorn had tried to slay the dragon that guarded his tower, but not a single one of them had gotten within a hundred yards of the base of his tower.
It wouldn't be so bad, he supposed, if there was something to do. He would even be glad of the company of a mere mouse! But all the small animals that might have infested a run-down, nearly uninhabited tower were all scared away by the huge firebreathing reptile that frolicked in the autumn mists that always seemed to cling to the ground here.
He sighed again and moved away from the window, sinking down onto his bed and folding his hands behind his head, shutting his eyes and trying to sleep away another boring day in his endless confinement.]

[THE DOOR GETS KICKED OPEN!]
[And there's a breathless knight who takes off her helmet, her face slightly singed with soot, long tresses of chestnut hair messily piled in a bun at the nape of her neck. She smiles.]
Are you ready to be rescued?
[How did she get past the dragon? It's...a long story. It involves her feeling bad for the dragon and chasing off a knight that was trying to fight it. And then being best friends with the dragon. Complicated stuff. She'll probably come back tomorrow to feed it some more.]

He was halfway out of bed hen the door suddenly flew open and there stood a heavily armored, rather short knight. What? How had that even happened? He hadn't even heard a battle!]
What?
[The knight isn't even a proper knight! She's a woman!]
You're here to rescue me? But how did you get here? Why didn't the dragon roast you alive?
[Ulquiorra stared at her a little more, then decided he didn't really care how or why, just so long as he got out of the tower.]
Yes, I am ready. Let's go.

[She offers a gloved hand to him to help him along.]
Do you need some time to gather your things?
[The dragon might have been easily bested, but she's not sure who put him here in the first place. Whoever it was, they might not be too eager to release the captive prince...being. He's not a maiden, but he's definitely fair. Hopefully the sun won't burn him the moment he sets foot outdoors.]
The dragon is now Nnoitra.
[Ulquiorra blinks, staring at his rescuer for a moment. Who could possibly befriend a foul, fire-breathing, sulfur-smelling and curse-spewing dragon? And why?]
No, there is nothing I wish to take with me. [If Ulquiorra never has to read about hobbits again, it will be too soon. Plus, he probably only has one set of clothes.]
Shall we go? I do not think that your newfound friendship with my reptilian captor will last once it had realised that you have set me free.
I thought it was Tatsuki! Oh no, now they're screwed!
[She isn't sure why a dragon would really care all that much. Surely it would prefer to roam free and fly around and find gold to hoard. And with Ulquiorra gone, it gets this sweet free tower to inhabit.]
[Still, best to be prepared. She loosens her sword in its sheath and smiles at her new travel companion.]
We'll just have to sneak out, then.
[Too bad her armor clangs as she heads down the stairs.]
