It was rare for the Moon Kingdom to look off of its own world for workers, but there had been an exceptional candidate for the dark guard that overcame the obstacle of distance. One Jiro Mochizuki, an inhuman and ageless creature from the Earth who was reputed as a skilled and feared swordsman whose ruthlessness was only matched by his strength. Known for the use of his silver katana, he had cut down many a foe before he was contracted to work with other guards for the protection of the Moon Princess, Serenity.
Of course, with shifts as long as four weeks at a time, when no sunlight shone on the Moon Kingdom, he would remain ever at Princess Serenity's side, intent on protecting her from all harm. After all, even in a great era of peace and prosperity there was a need for his presence.
He was panting heavily, finally having a moment's rest at thwarting an attempted kidnapping on the sleeping princess, having slain the assailant before he could escape with her. By the time the royal guard arrived, Jiro had straightened and sheathed the blade made famous by him, his own wounds regenerating on the spot as he watched them work on removing the body, not quite meeting her eye as they did. The fact that the bastard had gotten a grip on her still burned, even if he had managed to stop it in the end.
"Are you unharmed, your highness?" Finally he asked, attempting to remain calm but unable to completely mask the worry that pulled at his expression. Perhaps he should have fed more frequently than he did, maybe that was why he slipped... But, there was no excuse for having a close call such as that. Not where she was involved, perhaps for more reason than his duty.

The arrangement was simple--protection from Hades in exchange for information.
She almost hadn't done it, and she still thought she was crazy for even considering. People didn't walk out of a deal with Hades, and when they tried awful things, things far worse than simple death, tended to happen. Much of it she'd witnessed first hand, and though she'd dreamed of a time when her contract would be up and she could leave for good, she knew it was mostly just a fantasy. So she'd bit her tongue (much as she was able) and did her job of schmoozing and making contacts with all the right people. And one night, not too long ago, someone had slipped her a card and said they could offer her protection.
Early that morning, she'd called. They gave her a time, location, and a key phrase to listen for. Now it was 3:59 at some greasy spoon, and if they could make good on their promise to neutralize the tracker under her skin they'd have a twelve hour head start. Maybe.
[If this character/arrangement doesn't work for you that's totally fine, just tossing it out there! Edit: Just learned the meaning of OTA and realized this one is not--sorry, my mistake!]

[Most likely the guard, but open to either role.]
[Either role works]
[Care for an original fantasy setting crown prince and knight? He could be assigned (or have volunteered, or have been requested) to serve as captain of the honor guard while she's visiting his homeland on some diplomatic mission, perhaps. Their politics differ quite a bit, but he'd be stubbornly courteous even if she invites heated debate, and he might remind her of her more idealistic early days, if I understand her background notes correctly? I'm open to other ideas, too, of course!]
[Probably the one being guarded lbr. I can go either way though.]
[Technically better for the guard role, but feel free to guard him too! He won't take it well, but that's half the fun.]
[ open to either but bodyguard probably makes the most sense ]
[Guarded. Historical muses are loved!]
[Either/or! Guard gets you a powerful, devoted stalker-knight. Guarded gets you petulant squabbling because as a king, he's the one who's supposed to do the protecting.]
[Hey, this is actually my canon. Guarded, and likely to run headlong into magical danger at the drop of a hat. Any takers to be bodyguarding the most frustrating man on the planet?]
