[ Though it might feel weird to have a smiling face inside her belly always... ]

[It's one way to have a happy meal...]

See? Trust me, Lapis. You'll love it!

[He then pokes at his chin. It looks like he's deliberating some serious biz.]

But there's still some important decisions to make. Before the waiter gets here, we gotta figure out what you should drink!

[waterwing]

[ He DOES look very thoughtful. Is food something you need to think about a lot before eating it? Were there some kind of human rituals involved? Maybe she's not so sure about this... ]

Drink? Um...Steven, I don't know anything about drinking. [ Is it different than eating?? ] Does that involve smiling faces, too?

[jamminshield]

If we're lucky, then it'll involve your own! [Steven uses his fingers to trace the image of a smile along his own mouth.]

You know how your whole dealio has to do with water? Well drinking's like eating, but with water and all kinds of other liquidy objects! You just... drink it all down!

[He raises an invisible cup and makes some glugging noises.]

[ If there's anything Lapis knows, it's water. Plenty of it flowed through her, though it's definitely odd to think of humans ingesting it. ]

Oh! I see! [ ...Or sorta, anyway. ] So what kind of drinks are there? Aside from water. [ she should probably try something that is not water. ]

[jamminshield]

So many kinds! Water's just the tip of the iceberg. ...Or I guess you'd call it a water-berg in this case!

But I think we'll stick with some of the classic breakfast standbies. Orange juice or milk! One comes from a fruit, and the other comes from a cow!

[waterwing]

[ ...Since she has no idea what a cow is but can at least vaguely identify "fruit": ] How about...orange juice? is that alright?

[ JUST. MAKING SURE. ]

[jamminshield]

It's super alright! Good thinking, Lapis! Orange juice is... like the heart of a good breafast. The orangey, juicey heart. [He puts a hand over his chest dramatically as he says that.]

But, that begs another important question! Lapis Lazuli, do you have any feelings about pulp?

[waterwing]

[ The heart of a good breakfast sounds...nice. She feels pretty good about her choice there.

Then, she blinks. ] ...Pulp? What's pulp, Steven?

[jamminshield]

Oh! Well pulp is like little bits of the fruit that get mixed in with the juice. Some people like it, buuuut I think it's really weird. So you can get your juice with pulp in it, or just as pure juice!

[waterwing]

[ ...Sorry, Steven. She still looks thoroughly perplexed after this explanation. But! When in doubt: ]

I think I'll like it the way you like it, without pulp.

[jamminshield]

Alright. We got ourselves a deal! [He gives a thumbs up, and then the waiter does stop by! He gives the order.]

Two of your freshest and non-pulpiest ojs, my good sir! ...Oh! And how could I forget? Two silly straws, too!

[waterwing]

What's a silly straw? [ They sound...silly. ] And...who was that person?

[jamminshield]

You'll see soon! [He says teasingly.] It's one of the best ways to drink something.

And that guy was the waiter! He brings us what we ask for.

[waterwing]

[ Okay, okay...wow, she's learning so much today! ]

So he's some kind of servant? [ That doesn't quite sound like you, Steven... ]

[jamminshield]

Um... kind of! [He shrugs meekly.]

But not the bad kind. The kind that gets paid! I bet he uses his money for a lot of important grown-up stuff, like gas and mortgages!

[waterwing]

[ Gas and mortgages? ] And...food?

[ Look at how much she's learning about Earth culture! ]

[jamminshield]

[Now he smiles proudly.]

That's right! Aaand drinks, and silly straws!
