The Rescue Me Meme

'Cause, sometimes, you just can’t save yourself.
→ Post with your character’s name, canon, and any preferences in the subject line
→ Those tagging, go to RNG and roll for a number between one and ten.
→ Alternatively, just pick the choice you’re interested in most.
1. A Bad Date - You get a text, a phone call, or maybe you can just see the other person floundering on what clearly must be the worst date of their life. Time to step in and save the day.
2. Prison - Maybe they've been wrongly convicted, or maybe you're an accomplice. Either way, it's jailbreak. Maybe the guards will fall for the old 'wounded prisoner' technique.
3. Taken Hostage - They're being held at gunpoint, either for money or for fun. Maybe you can talk down their captors, or maybe you are a captor, secretly working to help them.
4. Abuse/Neglect - Your body is damaged, your suffering taken it's toll. You can't save yourself anymore. You're wounded, you're starving, maybe even dying. Someone, help.
5. Addiction - Just one more. Nothing bad will happen if you just get one more. Either way, you can't save yourself from this downward spiral. Someone else is going to have to help.
6. Yourself - One bad choice after another, your self-destructive tendencies are going to get the best of you unless someone steps in, quick, to save the day.
7. Climactic Situation - You're hovering over an active volcano, a pit of sharks, about to fall off a cliff. Whatever it is, you've only got precious seconds of life left.
8. Loneliness - You've been secluded, locked away, and the emptiness is overwhelming. You need company, or you might just drown.
9. Unwanted Social Function - A family reunion, your three o'clock board meeting, whatever it is, you desperately don't want to go. Hopefully your good buddy can come up with a distraction.
10. A Bad Romance - You're trapped in a relationship that's headed south, and you can't seem to get away from the other person. Looks like you need a helping hand, maybe a prince charming.

But, most of all, he loved that he could be here, with his lover, and say and hear those words. Yeah. Today, that was the best part of it by far.*
Good thing, too. *One of Dick's 120 Watt smiles. Not only reaching his eyes; this was one of those smiles that showed his heart in those blue eyes. He ran his thumb over one of the flushed cheeks.*
I could wax poetic and compare you to a star and all, but you have more of a Mars thing going on for you... and all I'd mean would be that I'm glad to be home, so...
*Dick? Babbling? Never.*
I am very glad to be home. With you.
no subject
It looks like he had been silenced, but he wasn't going to complain. ]
no subject
His mouth wibbled slightly at the tenderness, and he ran his thumb along the familiar lips.*
Home. *he repeated again, softly.*
no subject
Home, and it better stay that way.
no subject
*lopsided smile.* Well, I may need to touch base with Bats and all. For the sake of his sanity. But home's here.
no subject
no subject
*no, he didn't like the way his smile fell, not at all.*
And not yet, not right now. 'kay?
no subject
Yeah... it's just, he wasn't too happy... about you taking that mission for me.
no subject
What did he do?
no subject
Eh, he just got grumpy... grumpier than usual.
I dunno if he approves of us.
no subject
I'll talk with him. That part... it's none of his business. The other...
*he trailed off. He would have done the same even if they had not been lovers. He'd have done that for his best friend. And it was...
God. There was a mess to straighten out. Dick only added quietly,*
He's lost too many sons already.
no subject
Wally sat up, trying to brush these thoughts out of his head. ]
Hey, how about we make something to eat, huh? Bet you're starving after being away so long.
no subject
Now he let Wally up with a small sigh (nooo, really, he'd missed him) and then took on an offended expression*
Heeey, I'll have you know that I have been taking proper care of myself! Like eating and sleeping... some. And keeping in shape.
But I won't refuse food, either.
*He rose... well. Dick style. Flipping up over his head and the arm of the couch. Not that he stood a chance of beating his lover to the kitchen, but if he started closer...*
no subject
So what are you in the mood for?
no subject
That depends, bright-eyes. What've you got?
no subject
Hmmmmm. I could try whipping bacon and eggs. Always sounds good in the middle of the night, right?
no subject
Sounds perfect to me. I mean, if that's too much trouble, I wan even do with soggy cereal.
*He grinned over*
But your cooking will definitely be even more appreciated.
no subject
Then stand back and get ready for me to work my magic.~
[ Cooking was just like chemistry, as far as he was concerned. Except things rarely exploded in his face when he cooked. ]
no subject
After the last few months, he really appreciated that.*
I'm... just going to set the table, then.
*even if it meant having to wash forks. Or if it didn't. No matter how fast Wally worked, the cooking was going to take a bit of time.
And when he passed by the stove, he placed his hand between Wally's shoulder-blades, warm and steady and reassuring. Because he could.*
no subject
As for the cooking, he started unwrapping the bacon and putting several strips to one side of the skillet. He turned on the stove and began prodding the bacon around with a wooden spoon. When he felt that hand on his back, he looked over with a smile. ]
I think all this time apart was a good lesson in self-sufficiency.
[ He looked back to the skillet and started grabbing for eggs, cracking them on the side and pouring them onto the heated metal. ]
no subject
Dick busied himself with the silverware. And condiments. And. Stuff.
He really only flipped over the table to get faster to the other side once. To get whatever could be found in the fridge for drinking faster.*
I... wasn't aware you needed one.
*Because maybe he should have noticed.*
no subject
Wally turned off the stove and took the skillet over to the table; he put a good helping on both their plates and then set the skillet back on the stove. ]
Oh yeah, y'know, I'm hopeless without you, dude.~
[ The wry turn to that smile should have made the joke clearer now. He walked over to a chair and pulled it out for Dick, the "chivalry" just adding to his amusement. ]
no subject
*He blinked of his shoulder at Wally, then took the seat... one hand reaching back to touch the back of the ginger's palm.*
I'm sorry. Don't think I'm in the best shape for verbal sparring just now. I'll make up for it?
no subject
Wally quickly tried to force a smile onto his face, putting his other hand over Dick's. ]
Right. You should eat up and get some sleep, huh?
[ After that, the speedster slipped out of Dick's grasp and went around the table to take his seat. ]

The rest was merely Dick being... well, clingy. The bat-trained brain kicking into overanalyzing everything and taking everything in the worst way, the way he was the most responsible and... the most guilty. There were only so many times who could react wrongly before he said or did something to upset his lover...
... and, judging by the way his face fell, saying it out loud did no better.
Dick sighed slightly, blue eyes seeking the green, wide and open and honest.*
Wally, it's all right. I'm all right. Just... missed you too much, and now my mind's all over the place.
*somehow, his eyes warmed up even more.* I keep worrying that I -- no. I keep worrying how badly I hurt you, and I don't want to make it worse. Makes sense?
