Things We Lost in the Fire
![]() Mutual Healing Shipping Meme |
Healing doesn't come quickly, whether the need comes from physical or mental wounds. But you're trying regain your strength - and yourself. People, as a general rule, are kind, or at least not outright inflammatory to you, it seems. Still, you just can't connect with them. No matter how nice, how caring, they don't understand. They've never experienced anything like what you've gone through, or they're not like you in a way that lets them see what you still go through; they have no frame of reference. Sure, they have sympathy, but it's not the same. So there's no real connection, despite any friendliness. It's so easy, then, to feel detached... ...until you meet them, in this place of both death and healing. They may not have been through the exact same struggles, they may not be exactly the same as you, but they know what darkness is light. How they handle this fact may be better or worse than how you do, yet you can see yourself in their actions. And for once? There's connection; more than that, too. Slowly, you can feel yourself opening up towards them, and then, falling for them. Is this something your used to? Will you fight your feelings, or will you jump at the opportunity to be with someone who can begin to get you? You may have little choice in the matter, as your instincts may just reach out to be with whatever compatible contact you can get. That's better, in the long run, though. Who else could have wounds like yours?

Re: Tony Stark l MCU l ota
"He did the sacrificial hero thing during the end of the war and got frozen in ice for 70 years. Then SHIELD thawed him out and brought him into the Avengers. We butted heads a few times and that kind of thing, but I never thought it would get this bad. I just wanted to help him with Barnes I didn't want him to get hurt."
Re: Tony Stark l MCU l ota
Mercy had never seen Tony like this. Eare moments of vulnerability, yes, but quickly hidden or laughed off. This was... something else.
Re: Tony Stark l MCU l ota
"He....he's gone," Tony finally said unable to say dead, he can't he night never be able to actually. His dad's friend the, guy everyone looked up to had been taken out by an assassin's bullet. Captain America was gone and part of the vision Tony had been shown had come true. "He's gone and I don't know what to do."
Re: Tony Stark l MCU l ota
"Oh, Tony. I'm so sorry."
She reached up to at least take his helmet off if he'd let her. She wanted to be able to touch his face, his hair, comfort him skin to skin.
"I can't even imagine..."
Re: Tony Stark l MCU l ota
The helmet suddenly retracts and snaps into the base of Tony's neck armor as if his mind knows he wants to get it off. "I never wanted this....I never wanted to lose a friend. Why didn't he just toe the line. All this fighting did nothing to help his cause." He hangs his head suddenly tired and ashamed.

Re: Tony Stark l MCU l ota
Tony nods seeing the good sense in what Mercy is saying. Without Pepper or Rhody around she's the next best thing to Jimmy Cricket he has right now. "Food sounds good...don't remember the last time I ate anything."
Re: Tony Stark l MCU l ota
She'd heat up some soup, maybe make a grilled cheese or something. Nothing too fancy or spicy that might upset his stomach.
At least the hot water heater was big with enough water for as long a shower as he wanted, and she'd be right there if he needed her.
Re: Tony Stark l MCU l ota
He took her hand and pulls himself to his feet trying not to lean too much of his weight on her, the armor alone would not them both over. "Thank you Mercy," he says softly, "for listening."
Re: Tony Stark l MCU l ota
She led him to the bathroom. "You get in there and I'll make you something hot. Then we can talk more."
Mercy hesitated. "Are you okay on your own or do you need a hand. I can stay if you want."
Re: Tony Stark l MCU l ota
"I've designed the armor to come off easily," Tony says starting to remove the top pieces, "in the old days when I first made it though even my bots couldn't get it off."
Re: Tony Stark l MCU l ota
Re: Tony Stark l MCU l ota
"I promise not to blow it up before you get there," Tony admits, "I happen to do that a lot."
Re: Tony Stark l MCU l ota
Even like this, his body took her breath away. "Let's get you into the shower. I can stay if you want..."
