Some things don't need explanations. Chicken wings. Wonderful weather. Guilty pleasures like Michael Bay movies. This meme is one of those things. It's simple: one character is in another's lap, and eventually the two get hot and heavy. Whether it's a friend sitting on a lap because there's no room, couples cuddling, or a stripper giving a lap dance, one thing will lead to another...after all, the loss of personal space can certainly set actions (and more) in motion.
Prompts
Innocent Lap Sitting: It's just a friendly gesture. Maybe you're enjoying a movie or a dinner together. Nothing wrong with that!
Romantic Canoodling: You two are spending some time together, and there's no way to be closer than to snuggle up in your lover's lap.
Out of Necessity: No more room on the bench, in the booth, or on the couch? There's a place on their lap.
Amateur Lap Dance: Just something sexy between lovers. Or maybe more silly than sexy.
Professional Lap Dance: Better break out the ones. This lap dance will cost you.
Dare: Nobody ever thought you'd get this close and personal, so they pushed you into doing it.
Pointed: They said you couldn't turn them on so easily. Challenge accepted.
Accidental: Oops, you've fallen! Good thing this lap was there.
Step Back I Feel a Little Poke: Wait. What's this? Maybe you should wiggle your hips a little to find out.
Lovemaking Lapsitting: Riding someone while they're sitting up can make the rider feel powerful, since they're on top, but the one being ridden may notice just how soft and small they are...and embrace them out of instinct.
Lyna nods, understanding. They have lost so much, had it taken from them, and the only thing they have left is for others to continue to learn, to remember what was lost. Even if no one remembers Danae's name, she will have children that will continue to tell of her deeds. Sadly, that option was taken from herself upon the Joining. "Indeed, it is." Undeniable evidence of their contributions.
"I wish I could have as well," she said. "The only other I knew who was concerned about our history, I haven't seen in years." Not since the day she left, the last person that Lyna saw before turning that final time and heading off to her life as it is now.
"Talk to Leliana, she might at least be able to update you on that. If anyone would know, she would." Danae may not understand her spymaster in all things, but she has faith in Leliana's ability to find anyone she needs. That's a part of her role, after all.
She's silent for a moment, trying to recall what she can for Lyna's sake. "He seemed kind, but weary. He never really wanted to be Inquisitor, much like it wasn't my choice. I wish we could have given him better news...about the Seekers, the Dales, his love. The only thing we could promise is that Cassandra would do the Seekers justice, and that we would finish what he started."
"I should perhaps talk to her anyways," Lyna said. "It's been years since we really talked, we likely have a lot of catching up to do." Shed'seen her a few times, and perhaps it was merely the years, but the spymaster had seemed a bit... harsher than she remembered. Though, that could have merely been due to the stress of the situation.
She leaned back slightly against Danae, listening as she told of Ameridan. "Does sound like someone I would have liked to meet," she said. They all had so much in common, thrust into roles that they hadn't wanted, having to shoulder the responsibility put upon them. "And I've no doubt that you shall do everything to keep that promise. I'll help in any means that I can."
Danae smiles warmly at that, bolstered by such support. That the Hero of Ferelden, one of her people, has such faith in her helps a great deal. It might have helped even if said hero was human, but of course it wouldn't have the same meaning, especially now in light of that conversation about Ameridan.
"Thank you, Lyna. I'm sure that your support will make a great deal of difference. At least Ameridan's efforts won't have been in vain, and we can tell his clan that much. As for Leliana, I think she would like that. She's needed more in the way of friendly company from before, but she'll only open up so much with me. I don't blame her for it, not when she met me as spymaster first, but it ought to happen with someone."
"My pleasure, Danae," Lyna replied. It was the least she could do, after all, and she certainly wanted to help, regardless, as it was the right thing to do, and not just a 'we'll show the humans' thing.
She nodded. It was odd, thinking of Leliana as cold and impersonal, given the times and conversations that they had back during the blight, when the bard had been one of her companions. Of course, she'd directly influenced her, perhaps causing her to become that way. "She was quite friendly when I knew her," she said, almost wistfully. "We'd talk about Orlisian fashion, and she could go on forever about shoes. I helped her confront her past, the one that betrayed her, and pushed her into accepting that she was a killer, a bard and spy. She left to help the Divine shortly after the events at Amaranthine."
"Well, I can't say her being spymaster isn't what we need now. Without her, I'd hate to think of where this Inquisition would be...assuming it had even gotten off the ground without her help. She's taken her ways and used it to our advantage whenever possible."
But.... "The first time I spoke to her, she was so broken and angry about the Divine Justinia's death. That has influenced her decisions, for better or worse, and though I tried to get her to talk about it, she's not yet ready. Maybe she'll be more willing with you. It's a tall order, getting her some peace of mind during all this, but I hope it's possible." And as much as Danae has faith in Josephine and their friendship, Josephine wasn't around Leliana during the Blight. Maybe what her spymaster needs is a fellow veteran.
Lyna nodded in agreement as she listened. She was the one that knew Leliana the longest, perhaps the best, and there was more history between them to work with. "I can see how that might be. She was quite religious when I knew her, and undoubtedly, all of this has been quite a test of her faith." Lyna had never denied the existence of the Maker or Andraste, and had fully respected Leliana's beliefs, even if she didn't share them, instead following her own gods. Who was to say who was right and who was wrong, especially since reports were that Corypheus had said that there were no gods? (Not that she believed that for a moment, of course.)
First Marjolaine's betrayal, Mother Dorothea's helping her, facing Marjolaine and helping Dorthea after she was named Divine Justinia and being her Left hand, and now having her die as well was quite a bit. "I'll see what I can do when I get the chance to."
The tension and concern within Danae subsides at that and she smiles warmly, truly grateful. "Thank you. That might make all the difference. And even if it doesn't, Leliana will still be reminded that there are people who care about her. Sometimes, that's all any of us need."
Another thought comes to mind and she perks up a little. "Hm, maybe a game of Wicked Grace would help, too? Varric's been talking about getting everyone together again and adding some new faces. What we need is a relaxing night with no reports or anything remotely serious."
Lyna could probably do with the conversation as well, since Leliana had been the closest friend she had during their travels. And after she'd gotten everything taken care of, she'd pretty much been on her own, seeing what she could do about stopping the inevitable. There was catching up on both sides. Plus, she'd been the most understanding about the loss she felt at not losing only her clan, but the one that had been closest to her.
"Wicked grace?" Lyna asked, slightly surprised. "I haven't played in years. Honestly don't know if I'm any good anymore." Not that she was really good to start with, but she was fairly decent. And it would be a good idea to get together in a comfortable setting, and not worry about everything for a change. "Sounds like a good idea. Count me in."
Upon hearing that Lyna's rusty, Danae braces herself for rejection but grins, pleasantly surprised when she accepts. "It's not about how good you are or how much you might have forgotten, lethallan. Wicked Grace is just an excuse to gather, drink as much as we please and tell outrageous, silly stories. Though I wouldn't bet anything you're not willing to lose...like clothes."
Her lips twitch at that last part, remembering quite well what happened to Cullen...and enjoying the memory of that view. Thank you, Josephine. Though sadly, she doubted they would have a repeat. It's far too soon and the last game too fresh in Cullen's mind for them to talk him into it. Well, maybe Varric...but it's still a long shot.
It was really the only course she could take. Lyna had so few friends lately, everyone going off doing their own thing after the end of the blight, and her own quest in trying to prevent her looming death. Given that it doesn't seem to be that can be avoided, she can only make the best of the time she has left, and she'd rather not be alone when that moment comes.
"Oh, I don't know. It can be fun when someone's clothes come off, depending on the situation and with whom." She'd heard the story of Leliana and the small clothes being pinned to a Chantry board, after all. Though, the mention of such a specific thing has her more than slightly curious. "You didn't lose your clothes, did you?"
The question provokes a laugh from Danae, who shakes her head. "No, I was smart enough not to bet against Josephine. 'I hope I remember the rules, it's been ages since I played', my foot. She played poor Cullen, though, and he lost his bet against her. So much for being certain about her 'tells', hm?"
She smirks fondly, remembering that nice view he provided when following through with the deal. No more clothes for him at the table. "Sadly, I'm sure it's too soon to convince him to rejoin us, even with Varric promoting the revenge angle."
Cullen? Well, that must have been quite the thing to see, given her recollection of him. "You're quite taken with him then, given that sentiment?"
Lyna can't blame her, really. It's not like there's really any other option for the two of them other than looking outside of their clans, given the circumstances. Solas and Sera just don't come off as the type to be interested, and there isn't a lot of other elves around, and certainly not any Dalish. At least, not that she's seen.
Not expecting such a straightforward question about Cullen when she was simply intent on making sure his Wicked Grace legend never died, Danae's cheeks flush as she rubs the back of her neck. Her laugh is self-conscious.
"Ah, it's that obvious? I know it must make me a terrible example of a Dalish, but I'll take a human who doesn't insult my culture over fellow elves that do."
Lyna grinned, leaning back into Danae. "Not really, it just seemed that way. Would have been quite embarrassed had I been wrong." She shrugged slightly. "Can't say that he's my type, but can't fault anyone else."
She shook her head. Had things gone differently, and she'd remained in her clan, she might have thought that. But having been away from just about everyone the past ten years, knowing the circumstances that she shared with Danae, she didn't think so in the slightest. "Even if we were still with our respective clans, there would be a good possibility of having to travel outside our clans. Being away from them, I can certainly not fault anyone for wanting to find that something that is missing, and certainly can not fault them if it isn't with one of our kind, given that there isn't than many elves around, and even less Dalish.
Expecting a lecture on remaining true to Dalish ways, which do not include shemlen at all, Danae relaxes slightly. She certainly can't fault her people for wanting to hold onto what they have, and there's no small amount of guilt that she can't fulfill her role as First of her clan. But she's never been attracted to only elves, and it's not something she's good at hiding.
"It helps to hear you say that, honestly. I suppose the pressure isn't as bad as it could be, since all of my siblings have children among the people. But my clan deserves a First who can stay with them, and I'm not sure that can happen even without a human in my thoughts. With this mark, my responsibility is forever elsewhere." She raises her left hand, regarding the flickering green light in her palm thoughtfully.
