I can't go to bed! Things are happening on the internet!!

For some, the internet is a necessary medium of everything and anything in life. For others, it's a nice thing to have, but not something to live by. Still others have yet to even experience the privilege (or curse, depending on the individual) of such a feat of technology, cooperation, and human innovation.
The entire world wide web version 2.0 is now at your fingertips, whether or not it was before. Now, all sorts of people are out there somewhere in the tubes for you to chat with, troll, hit up for cybersex, or anything you can think of.
Don't lie, you can't resist the temptation to look.
- User A: Comment, and optionally-but-recommendedly tell us what your character is doing! Looking for rule 34, or accidentally stumbling across it? Browsing a forum for someone to chat up, or lurking it for someone to troll? Searching for Wikipedia articles, or searching for suckers on Craigslist? Pouring their latest woes out on LiveJournal/Dreamwidth/Facebook, or... well, anything in-between any of these? Name / Fandom / Preference is a good idea, as always.
Alternatively, you can use the list numbered 1 through 12 for RNG purposes below!- User B: Comment back as you see fit! Perhaps you're a housemate, spouse, or family member passing by the monitor at an inconvenient (or convenient) time, the person the first character is trolling or flaming with every fiber of their being, or simply someone else in the same e-vicinity at the same time with something to say. Anything goes, so get creative!
- Exploit the internet at your whim!!
Facebook: The internet's number one social networking site, bar absolutely none. Perhaps you've suddenly had the urge to search for, stalk, or otherwise harass old friends or classmates. Maybe you're posting updates and photos from your latest shenanigans for your entire wall to see. Or you could just be stirring up arguments on the walls of friends and family. Careful; future (or current) employers might go looking for your Facebook page somewhere down the line!
Youtube: Jumping around from recommended video to recommended video can be a fun pastime when bored, but it also tends to land you in very strange parts of the site. You might be causing a fast-paced flame war in the comments, now that you've found something worth wasting time on. Or, of course, you might be uploading your latest vlog, Let's Play, or fan music video for your loyal subscribers.
Search engines / Wikipedia: Information is plentiful on the internet. It's very easy to get lost on Wikipedia by jumping from one article to the next for that reason, just as Google can bring up some interesting results with the right keywords. And Wiki, being as open as it is, is ripe for editing. If you're not searching for something or filling your brain with your daily dose of information, you just might be blanking, vandalizing, or edit warring over pages instead.
Twitter / Plurk / other microblogging sites: You might not think much can be accomplished in only 140 characters per message, but people make it work and then some. Some are up-to-the-minute content providers, some are simply followers looking to stay informed or have conversations with friends. Whether or not you're spamming your feed with silly updates about minutinae every few minutes or less, Twitter is one of the easiest, fastest, and most succinct ways to get and spread news. (But remember, 140 characters!)
Fanfiction.net / deviantART / Pixiv: It's difficult to not know about the fandom sphere online, whether or not you're a part of it. Fanfiction and fanart have been staples of the followings since before the internet existed. So the websites that host their works are filled with all kinds of content, arguably both good and bad: the ubiquitous 2D and 3D porn, but also fanart of characters and pairings of all varieties, in all mediums and all skill levels. The same applies to the written equivalent. If you don't turn the filter on, you might find something you weren't looking to find... even if it is, technically, worksafe.
4chan / 2chan: Image boards, as high-traffic as they are, have mixed reception for everyone, whether they do or don't use them. The boards where almost anything goes are the most infamous, with powers of cooperation used for good as well as more off-color purposes, but there are all sorts of different topic boards, worksafe and not. Best of all, the chan sites are lightweight and are often a good source of information and niche resources. Unless, of course, you're just there for the vicious trolling and unrepentant flame wars that some parts of the sites are so renowned for.
Amazon / eBay: Internet shopping is a wonderful invention, isn't it? Instead of having to search high and low and travel long distances just to get something very specific from a certain store owner or craftsman, you can now use the internet to arrange the deal and have the item shipped to you directly! With this, though, also comes the risk of being ripped off, not getting what you paid for, or fooled into buying something less than quality against your better judgment. If you're looking to buy or sell something, eBay is an invaluable resource, but don't forget that long-distance bartering and transactions can have their downsides, too...
Craigslist / dating websites: When it exploded in popularity due to being a convenient and more up-to-date alternative to newspaper ads and personals, the seedier side of the service also became apparent with it. Although the offering of services, used and new items, and local happenings are popular, the personals can be a special breed of hit-or-miss for some.
Any porn site in existence: Needs no explanation, I hope. I mean, humans have been getting their rocks off since the dawn of time; the internet only made that easier to accomplish by making sexual material more readily available. And boy, is it readily available now! No matter your preferences, your mood, or your fetish, there's surely some porn site somewhere that caters to your needs.
LiveJournal / other blogging platforms: Blogs tend to be more personal in nature than Facebook or Twitter feeds, and about all different subjects under the sun. Some people write about their everyday lives just to get it out somewhere, and others keep detailed accounts of their work, hobbies, ongoing events, or other things. Luckily, most of these services have ways to privatize your content, but if you don't, you might want to be careful that co-worker or classmate you bitched about in your last entry doesn't stumble upon it.
Omegle / IRC / IM and video chatting: Live chats have expanded to a wide variety of types and uses. There's the simple platforms like IRC or AIM, but Skype popularized the idea of voice and video chatting without the use of a phone service, and Omegle took it to a new level by randomly setting you up with a chat or cam partner. Whether it's with one partner or an entire room full of participants, you've got a lot of options at your disposal.
Shock sites / other internet horrors: So, you've been trolled. Or maybe you haven't been, but you have some exceptionally bad luck nonetheless. It could range from anything to being linked to a disturbing picture or video (I'm sure you can think of at least one) to having your browser crashed, or your computer infected to hell and back with a nasty virus that eventually totals your entire machine. Hope you kept backups!
