Patch You Up

Patch You Up
shipping meme

Let's hope you're not squeamish. Even if you are, you're going to have to power through it, because your crush, significant other, lover, or fellow practitioner in romantic tension has been battered and bruised. The degree of severity, from a minor scrape to a life-threatening injury, can vary, as can the reason - they may even be hurt because of you. If that's the case, you have all the more reason to tend to their wounds with your own two hands.

No one can take care of them like you can.

Bust out the bandages, even if they don't want you to worry over them or can't believe that anyone would. Though it's not your intention, if you're genre savvy, you may know that your best Florence Nightingale may be the final push if you're not together-together.

That's assuming if you both don't pass out from botched first aide before any of that happens. Don't forget that a kiss to make it better is critical!

It was pretty easy to tell what direction Scott was going to come from, because a bright, red, flare of light came from that direction. Then the noise of a battle quieted considerably. Scott didn't try to sneak as he made his way out - made sure others were headed for the jet, and then went in search of Remy.

"Where and how bad?" Where was obvious, in a way, but internal, external, specifics weren't. Which was why, while he was working on supporting Remy, he was also prying that hand away.

Pulling Remy's hand away resulted in a stream of French invective that could probably have blistered paint. The fact that it was still in French, though, was likely a good sign. If things had been really bad, Remy would have switched to English.

"Hard t' tell," he finally said, gritting his teeth. There was evidence of blood on his uniform, though it seemed to have slowed for the moment. "Somethin' got in 'tween the plates. Glass, maybe. Don' think it nicked anythin' important."

It was the danger of his personal armor. Remy needed to be able to move and twist more than others, meaning the ceramic armor plates weren't as close together as they possibly should have been. It was a calculated risk. One that he'd lost, this time.

They wore such a mismatched bunch of uniforms because they all had concessions to make. Some of those concessions left more room for vulnerability than others. Shit happened. It sucked when it did, but it wasn't the first time and it wouldn't be the last.

It wouldn't even be the last for Remy, and for that Scott was glad. The Last meant dead. This didn't look like it was likely to end in death any time soon. Probably.

"Nicked." Yeah, right. Sure. "We're closer to the jet than the rest. Let's get you back and get this taken care of before you've got an audience."

He did not try and carry the guy because - well, that wouldn't work - but he did provide a hell of a lot of support and balance assistance and had maybe, maybe, 100 feet through some wooded terrain to get to the Blackbird.

He was reasonably certain that it wouldn't end in death. Not unless something got infected. Though the fact that he thought it was glass that had gotten through in a wooded area meant he had likely taken a hit to the head as well. Which, also, was about par for the course.

It also left him leaning a bit heavily against Scott's support, glad of it because the world was spinning and it could have been his head or blood loss. He still let out a sigh of relief when the Blackbird came into view. "Ain't never looked better," he murmured as they made their way up the ramp into the plane. And thankful because he didn't have to try to negotiate steps.

"It looks this good every time we drag our asses back to it." After near escapes from death.

Scott used the comm to check in and let the others know he had Gambit and was back at the jet, but he did it without letting go and while he eased Remy down into a seat. "Stay there, stay awake."

There was a medical kit onboard. With their line of work there and had to be and it had to be well stocked.

They'd done this song and dance before. Injuries weren't exactly uncommon, after all. Which is why Remy made a face at Scott as he leaned back in the chair, though he didn't actually flip Scott off. This time.

"Stayin' 'wake ain't gonna be a problem. Ain't in that much pain." He wasn't about to fall unconscious. No matter how tired he might be at the moment.
