THE CRIMINAL AU MEME

Warning: This meme will contain violent content and possible triggers.

HOW TO PLAY:
1) Post a comment below, detailing your character and canon. For best results, DO NOT LEAVE THIS COMMENT BLANK; pick a role, or an AU, or write up a little on what you'd like to explore with your character.

THE ROLE.
1) Criminal. (The one who committed the act.)
2) Law enforcement. (Cop, FBI, prison guard.)
3) Witness. (What did you see?)
4) Victim. (Probably not applicable in the case of murder. … Probably.)
5) Lawyer, judge, or paralegal. (Participant in the legal system.)
6) Private security. (Unaffiliated, but with an interest in keeping your client safe. Or in getting your target caught.)
7) Other. (Let your imagination go wild.)

THE CRIME.
1) ROBBERY. The crime of stealing via force or threat or fear.
You need the money. You're desperate. You have the gun, the convenience store is right there, and everything will be better once you've finished the job.

Or maybe you've been hired. Provide a little intimidation, and someone else will take care of all your problems.

Or it's a thrill. Rolling across the country, robbing banks as you go. A Bonnie & Clyde crime spree, and it can only end one way.

2) BURGLARY. Illegal entry into a building for the purposes of committing theft.
Non-violence, for you; you're just going to break in, take this one thing. Maybe a television, to sell for the cash. Maybe some jewelry, a computer.

Or maybe you're a master thief, dangling from a wire into a museum. Sliding through the air ducts of a skyscraper in search of a particular little item.

3) GRAND THEFT AUTO. The criminal act of stealing a motor vehicle.
You know your cars. And you can steal one in under 60 seconds. Better hope you don't get tripped up with one of those newfangled security systems.

4) MURDER. The act of killing another.
He had to die. He had to, and the guilt of knowing where you buried the body, of knowing that the police are coming after you -- it's starting to wear down your sanity.

5) SERIAL MURDER. A crime involving the killing of three or more people over a period of more than a month.
You have a drive to kill. Again, and again. Nothing satisfies it, nothing stops it. Maybe you hate yourself. Maybe you hate the human scum who only exist to go under your knife.

Or maybe you're a professional hit man. You've killed dozens, you know how it goes. It's just business.

6) CONSPIRACY. An agreement between two or more persons to break the law at some time in the future.
Mafia, Yakuza, crime families who keep their operations quiet under pain of death, dishonor, betrayal of the family. You're part of one of these operations, whether as a patriarch or a peon.

7) FRAUD. Intentional deception made for personal gain.
Blackmail. Cover-ups. Insider trading -- the marks of corporate crime. Perhaps you're a CEO who thinks they can do whatever they want. Perhaps your business is on the rocks and you just need a little time to make your golden parachute before you ditch it.

Or maybe you meant to destroy it. Maybe you're a professional con man, and you're stepping away from your latest conquest with plenty of cash in hand.

8) KIDNAPPING. The false imprisonment of another person against their will.
Do you do it for the ransom? For the money? For revenge?

Or is it a hostage situation, with dozens of prisoners, for some sort of political gain?

9) TERRORISM. The systematic use of terror, especially as a means of coercion.
For a religion, for a philosophy. But -- are you a terrorist, or are you a freedom fighter? It might just be a matter of point of view.

10) WILD CARD. For any crime not mentioned above.

[ She started off hunting, to keep her family alive. She could provide food. She could even provide a little money, from selling it. But it wasn't enough. Prim needed to go to school. They needed a car. Insurance. Upkeep on the house. New clothes, school supplies, medicine. The antidepressants for her mother weren't cheap.

And so now she applies her skills to something else.

She kills. On a contract basis. Her talents as a hunter are put to use carefully and methodically. She's good at it, now. The first few times she killed out of panic, but now it's a routine.

For her mother, and for Prim. ]

[She leaned up against a wall, breathing hard as she collected thoughts. Her arms were full of different chemicals, that she just... just couldn't allow the greenhouse to use on their plants.

How was she to know that there was an alarm? Damn... it was loud...]

[ Another fringe case, another week of little to no sleep. Now it's three in the morning and she's in a stakeout; she's sitting behind the wheel of her truck, engine off, sipping from a large coffee and waiting. ]

Come on, this way before they catch you.

[Okay... random... but convinent enough for her. Pam balanced the chemicals to not spill anything and followed the man]

[Despite his haste he walked casually now that she was accompanying her.]

Do you even know how to dispose of chemicals safely? Or were you planning on keeping them in your cupboard for eternity?

There are companies who will take them... [She huffed. She wasn't completely an idiot]

Companies that won't mind that they're stolen? Because you're on serial number away from them knowing exactly where you got those chemicals.

[He felt no remorse, not even the tiniest bit, as he snapped the man's neck like a twig. He was powerful, yes - ruler of a criminal empire - but it was the little things he enjoyed. Descending to street level, now and again, to show why it was that Shadowloo's membership feared him so much.]

A few places do hazardous waste days, and they have never asked for information before.

Alright well then how long until the next pickup?

I can keep you away from the police but it would be nice to know how long until you can head out.

[A man does not stress himself out in situations like these. No, stress is a sign of guilt or hesitance, of which he generally feels neither. So he simply lights himself a cigarette and listens.]

Why are you helping me? [An important question to ask]

I saw what you were doing and knew you'd get caught without me. I find it interesting that someone is willing to break laws to adhere to their morals.

There is a pickup at the end of the week. I usually store the chemicals in hazardous waste area in my home until I can make the exchange.

[She has done this before. But this is the first she had dealt with alarms.]

Alright well that isn't too far from now. If you want to be safer about this it may be better to stay with me until the pickup. There is no guarantee they didn't see you on a surveillance camera after all.

[She gets a slight stress attack from that statement. Why didn't she think about cameras? Or the alarm? The other places didn't have them... at least not the alarms.]

I screwed up on this, didn't I?

It's not the end of the world. You dispose of the chemicals and they won't have enough evidence to take you to court.

Have you done this before?

Not exactly. I'm just intimate with laws and know the police won't find my place as opposed to yours.

[Taking her down another alley they would quickly come upon a large hole in the ground, one which Marctavious walked down the steps of.]

[ Law school had been a great decision, something that truly opened up new avenues for her, and with a great job at Grossberg's law firm, Dahlia Hawthorne was walking with her head held high, more than ready to fight for... victory, of course. Ah yeah if you're going to do something like this it may be a good idea to live on your own. If you really want to you can just stay here when things get heavy like this again.

I'd offer you just a regular place to stay but it might be a bit weird crashing on the couch of a guy you just met.

Don't try to figure it out or you'll be liked the police trying to figure out why several alley ways were blocked with barbed wire.
