r-r-roadtrip

{The Road Trip Meme!!}

It's that time of the year again! You decided to take a road trip!
Either to your friends, relative, or perhaps an event,
but oh, my goodness, what will happen along the way?

• Post with your character name/fandom/options preferences.
• Use RNG to pick your possible scenario - or just go with what you'd like most.
• Reply to other people's tags. Use RNG, mix and match, or just wing it!
• Enjoy!

Situations:

1. BREAK DOWN
Oh, snap, your car decided to break down out in the middle of nowhere. WHAT DO? Is that Leatherface? Will this be "Children of the Corn"?
2. TRUCK STOP
You've stopped at a gas station. They're out of gas, snacks and the bathrooms are out of order. Wat do. (Zombie attack optional.)
3. HITCHHIKERS?
Is this even a good idea? Why is their backpack leaking suspicious substances? Go wild.
4. WHAT THE FUCK DID I JUST HIT?
Dude, I hear deer mess up cars... or I think that was a deer.
5. DON'T MAKE ME TURN THIS CAR AROUND!
Alas, you're the parent or the disgruntled friend who has had it up to here with all the fighting in the back.
6. OMG, I WANT TO TAKE A PICTURE OF THIS LANDMARK!
No, no, and no. You tell that person that they're going to be driven around and they're going to like it.
7. THE GREAT ESCAPE
Either dinosaurs or the mothman is chasing you. Don't stop now.
8. MAKE OUT~
You're now parked in one of the make-out points in this town. Did you know? Well, that's up to you, as is what you do next.
9. WE'RE SO LOST
The map blew away when you were stupid enough to open the windows earlier. You know that old stereotype about how men never ask for directions but women will? Time to see if you're going to prove it right or not. Try not to fight over it too much, driving partners.
10. BUT OFFICER...
Those flashing lights in your rearview mirror? Definitely not just for decoration.

Relationship (optional):

1. BUSINESS PARTNERS: The jet was undergoing some heavy repairs, so you have to drive to that big meeting.

2. BFFS/ROOMIES: On your last hurrah before you join the 'real world.'

3. NEWLYWEDS: You're a young couple on your honeymoon! Hope this doesn't ruin your relationship.

4. SIBLINGS: Whether this is a trip to reconnect or to fix things or to just deepen your bond as epic sibs is up to you.

5. PARENT & CHILD: It's like a family vacation for the two of you. try not to get on each other's nerves too much?

[ It goes back to the time when the people they really could rely on for sure had been each other, those first few days, weeks, after their mom had died. In terms of priority, Thomas comes first, ahead of most other people.

The conversation has sort of devolved into that now, what they'd done, and how they should proceed. It's a good thing, actually that they'd seen the cat, otherwise they couldn't have any excuse for being in the house in the first place.

Speaking of that cat, it seems to be hanging around them. It's likely it hasn't been fed since the murders, and people meant food.

Stiles is under no illusions that they won't be let back in. And well, likely - it'll be their dad pulling strings to even get a copy of the report. Or well, Stiles could pretend to be the Sheriff and request a copy of the files later, if necessary. ]

Yeah, them and the coroner. They're going to be asking us so many questions.

[ He breathes out heavily through his nose. The level of violence seen throughout the house had been disturbing. And yeah, he's doesn't really want to dwell much on it.

They hear the sirens long before the cruiser is anywhere in sight. ]

[It goes back from before that time, though it had been what had happened to their mom that had really solidified things. He wasn't sure what would have happened if they didn't have each other.

Thomas eyes the cat, approaching them, and he lets it nuzzle a little against their legs.

As for what the cops will and won't allow them to do, well. Thomas has other plans. What Stiles says, though, makes him nod.]

Just keep dad on the line, he will keep them off your ankles.

[It's soon enough that they hear the sirens, and it's only then that Thomas lets go of Stiles' hand. He leans down, to pick the cat, and pets it, twice, offering it for Stiles to take, after. He hopes the pet will help calm him, even with what's on it, the creature is affectionate and warm enough to be distracting. For a little while, at least.

Enough for the cops to finally arrive, a mess of cars and people, and Thomas begins to move back as the first come, taking profit of Stiles distraction with keeping up with the cat and their dad on the phone-- A voice he knows will help keep Stiles calm, as well.

By the time the lady makes it out of the first car, walking towards Stiles, Thomas is on the other side of the jeep, reaching out for the one jacket of their dad's that they really shouldn't have. But they do. And, with it on, it's easy enough to get in the middle of the group of people quickly approaching the house.

He knows he doesn't have a lot of time at all. But it should be enough.]

[personal profile] ingoodcompany 2015-11-05 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[ They had other more people then. Or that's how he feels about it, anyway. Even now though, there are things he'll only say or do with Thomas. ]

Of course, like dad would let me hang up on him.

[ Stiles is busy looking for signs of the cruisers, a dust cloud, flashes of red or blue light when Thomas gives him the cat, bemused. So he's going to be holding onto it too?

And yeah, it's affectionate, nosing around in search of food to eat and just sticking it's face everywhere. It's definitely a good distraction, enough so that he's still trying to work out the best way to carry it around when the cops finally arrive, coming out with the pens and notebooks and getting ready to seal off the scene. Which is about the time Stiles notices Thomas is gone.

Which is probably not the best time for it, the flash of panic that crosses his face while he looks around for him, catching his back as he goes into the house again.

Seriously, dude. There's going to be so much explaining about that... but they'll have to deal with that later.

He works with the cops who come up to him, detailing what he'd seen and letting dad chime in when necessary, letting them take pictures of the Jeep, and the cat.

At this rate, they might have to stay in town for a couple of days, even if the jeep isn't taken in as evidence. ]

[They had their mom. But well, definitely, yes. Even now, there are things Thomas will only say or do with Stiles, too.

He only smiles a little at that, mainly since it's followed by a 'You're damn right I won't' from the other side of the line.

And then, well, then everything goes as planned.

Inside the house, the cops are splitting everywhere, and Thomas follows the ones that walk into the room. They are on the bodies in a minute, probably figuring out what Thomas had figured out before-- They are too fresh to leave the stench in the air. He passes them, eyes fixed on that door. Before he can be stopped, he is turning the knob, only to find that the door is locked. There's no key in sight, so he forces it open with his foot, and--

Two cops come out of the house coughing, one of them vomiting on the side. The smell is almost unbearable, and Thomas has to close his eyes for a moment and completely cover his face with his shirt and his arm in order to be able to hang in there. He just wants a peek.

The other cops are on him, soon enough, but what they all see stops them all in their tracks, eyes wide in shock. The place is dirty. Blood and human matter, of some sort, is splattered everywhere. There are tiles missing, clearly plucked out by human fingers, a broken window in the back and a body in the tub.

It's naked from the waist up, shreds of clothing everywhere in the room. It's male, clearly dead for days, missing both his eyes and an arm.

He doesn't have time to put it all together, being pulled away, as soon as the cops are back to processing things again. They drag him, but he manages to pull the door with him, allowing him to see that on the other side there are nail marks, like the man had been clawing at the door for a very long time.

They take him away as someone is turning the girl around - her skin is turning purple much faster than the skin of the body on the bed, and much like the dead man on the bathroom - allowing him to see a wound on her side that he hadn't seen before. It's shaped like a small half a circle, but it's very infected, red and purple and black and green, pus oozing out.

It takes him a while to open his eyes once he is outside again. It takes him even longer to realize that it's okay to breathe without his arm covering his face, his lungs burning up.

There are people yelling at him from all sides, but Thomas isn't really listening.

It still doesn't add up.]

[ He finishes up his statement, it's signed and witnessed, and as expected, the cops want them to stay a couple of days while they start looking into this. They're not suspects, but they still want them nearby because of what they've seen.

They can hear the commotion from outside, some of the officers try to put Stiles into the backseat of a cruiser before going to see what's the matter - radioing in to those inside the building - but he doesn't cooperate because as if he's getting stuck in the back of a car while Thomas is where the shouting is.

And then Thomas is outside, and he ducks around the hands grabbing at him to rush over, hands reaching out towards his brother to make sure he's fine; that he's just being escorted outside because he got caught, and not for some other reason. ]

Hey, what happened?

[ Whatever the other cops are saying to each other, he doesn't really care about right now, and... he should, they should probably go back to reassure their dad. He'd heard the commotion too, but he hadn't taken his phone with him. ]

[It's Stiles' hands reaching out towards him that snap him out of his thoughts, head lifting as he suddenly feels a bit dizzy, sounds drowning out as if he was underwater, body losing its balance a little before he catches himself.

He's nauseous and he has to force himself to swallow down, having to frown in order to be able to focus on his brother's eyes.]

They locked him in.

[It's the first thought that comes out. They locked him inside.

Why?

Before he can really think much more about it, they are both being dragged away, towards the car, even though there's only one agent with them now-- Everyone else has been called in.]
ingoodcompany: ([Drive] White lines on the highway)

[personal profile] ingoodcompany 2015-11-06 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
[ He rests his hands on Thomas's shoulders to help steady him, frowning while he collects himself.

He wants to shake him a little, still, for even going back inside, and the thought of what Thomas could have seen in there, makes him sick. (And worried. And wanting to wrap Thomas up in a blanket while they huddled together.) ]

The people in the house.

[ Before they'd all ended up dead, for one reason or another. Oh god, just what was going on in there, he casts a quick look towards the house, but the place is literally swarming with police now.

With Thomas out, he doesn't fight too much when the officer "escorts" them to the back of the police cruiser. The cat - which had its paws swabbed for blood samples is also there, and the same person passes Stiles his phone before firmly shutting the door, before moving into the front to talk with the station. ]

Are you okay? [ Now that they're here. With nowhere else to go. ]
trismos: bangparty @ DW (This is war)

[personal profile] trismos 2015-11-06 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
[A sickness that he is beginning to feel, himself, as he stands there. (And that would be very, very welcome.)

He nods at what Stiles says, just before they are both dragged into the car. It all happens too quickly, and Thomas lets the office manhandle him well enough, just as long as he can see that he is being put in the same place Stiles is in.

He swallows, flinching when the man shuts the door, firmly, after giving Stiles his phone. He supposes their dad is still talking, so he lets Stiles deal with that as he looks back at the house. More cops are coming out to vomit and, honestly, he can't blame them. The air fresheners of the car do make it a little bit better (something he never thought could be possible).]

... Yeah. [He says, hand resting over Stiles' free one, over the seat. It takes him a while to look away from the house and back at his brother again.] Are you? [He has about a million other questions, but that is the most important one.]
ingoodcompany: ([Aside] Get it together)

[personal profile] ingoodcompany 2015-11-06 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
[ It's not good at all, is it? Whatever had gone wrong in there had been far out of the norm. Because from the way he sees the cops reacting, either they don't see a lot of gruesome crimes, and that's possible, given the isolation here, or whatever it had looked like in there was bad.

(And since they don't have any blankets available, Stiles putting his arm over Thomas's shoulders while they sit in the car will have to do.)

He leans a bit into Thomas's side, acting as a solid presence while he talks to dad, reassuring him again that things are as fine as can be expected, given the circumstances. ]

I'm okay. [ He twists his palm around, lacing their fingers together so that he can give a brief squeeze, before just letting their hands rest between them.

Setting the phone down on his lap to muffle the mouthpiece, he says: ]

Better than how you are, right now.

[ Thomas looks pale. ]

[It's not good at all. Though Thomas imagines their reactions are a lot because, well, yeah. They probably don't see things like this very often around these parts. It's gruesome, without a doubt, but it isn't worse than what Thomas imagines some serial killers have done before.

It's the setting that's confusing. Whatever happened in that house happened with the people in it. What that man had done, in that bathroom... Thomas was pretty sure he had done to himself.

(His mind is still running when he feels Stiles' arm over his shoulders, as well as the way in which he leans into him, grounding him where he is. It's incredibly welcome and reassuring, and Thomas visibly relaxes under the touch, body sliding slightly down the bench.)

He nods, in reply to his brother's answer, easily entwining his fingers with his, and squeezing his hand back, after. He doesn't let go after that.

He can hear his dad talk, but he doesn't say anything, eyes just moving away from the house to the cop sitting up front as he hears part of the report he is giving back to the station - family of four, older son seems to be missing - and frowns. That's why the car is missing.

... What happened in there?

Hearing what Stiles says next makes Thomas look away and towards the jeep, before actually leaning back, as well, against Stiles, resting his head on his shoulder.]

Hey. [He starts, squeezing Stiles' hand again.] I said I was okay. Just feeling a little nauseous, is all. But I'm good.

[And he is quiet again after that, contemplative. He looks at the front, just as the cop moves to get out in order to go talk to someone else. Thomas watches them, in silence.]
ingoodcompany: ([Finality] Bottom line)

[personal profile] ingoodcompany 2015-11-06 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
[ That makes sense. Not that it would make what happened here any easier to deal with. It could very well become the news of the year for the small town here.

They'll have to go over what they know later - see if it'll give a clearer picture as to what had been going on. Right now? He lifts the phone off his lap so that whatever they say won't be muffled from their dad. If they're quiet too long, he does get suspicious. ]

You're not going to throw up in here, are you? [ Because that would suck - for Thomas, and for them, since it looks like they really will be here awhile.

Them, and the cat that sleeping on the area behind the seats. ]

What did you see, anyway?
trismos: bangparty @ DW (To the edge)

[personal profile] trismos 2015-11-06 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
[He wouldn't be surprised at all, if that was the case.

Yeah, later might be best (once he's had a shower, anyway), to sit down and sort through everything. Maybe they will be able to put the pieces together.

At Stiles' question, Thomas moves his head a bit, to look at him, eyes pretty much asking 'Really?' before shaking his head and looking away, back at the house.]

Yeah, sure, lets just mention or talk about that. [Throwing up, that is. Because, well, yeah, it would suck. He'd really rather keep the nothingness in his stomach inside, even if it's nothing in there (something he is actually thankful for, even though he had been a bit hungry before).

He sighs at the last question, surprised that even their dad is quiet and waiting. He swallows again.]

The dad was in the bathroom. He has been dead for a while. [He has no idea how long, but it wasn't a recent death, like the other two.] The door was locked, and there were signs that he was trying to get out, I think they locked him in there for some reason.

[He pauses, looking at the jeep again and swallowing once more.]

He was missing a few parts. [No need to get into details.] I think he might have hurt himself. Same with the daughter. She had a very infected wound on her side. I think the mom killed her before she committed suicide.
ingoodcompany: ([Finality] Bottom line)

[ Plus they'll be able to write things out, get comfortable, talk without being interrupted.

And yes, really. It's a good thing neither of them are sympathy vomiters, or it would be worse. He just tilts his head, because the question makes sense, even if it's not the best time. Foot in mouth syndrome, he has it, so it's not exactly unexpected. ]

It would be good to know. [ Even if it won't get them out of the cruiser, even if the officer was still in the front seat. (Oh, and food too - when they can finally leave.)

He listens attentively, letting Thomas finish before speaking up: ]

Cut off, or just... gone?

[ Because he is really being reminded of a horror movie plot and he does not like it. He doubts his dad is thinking along the same lines, working on more logical ideas, but it fits.

It's not like they wouldn't have know what rabies looked like, or something.

God, that would have been horrible to see. He holds Thomas a little tighter, giving what comfort he can. ]

trismos: crys @ rpingicons (tumblr) (The honest)

[personal profile] trismos 2015-11-06 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
[Definitely, yeah. Thomas figures they will be staying for a while, even though Stiles hasn't told him so yet. He hopes they don't have to pay for the motel they will certainly end up in. (So much for vacation.)

It's not at all unexpected. He'd just rather not have to think about it.]

I'll give you a warning. [Which will probably not change much, but, well, if it will make Stiles feel better. (He can't even think about food right now. Because then, well. Then he will have to give that warning.)

The question has him hesitate again. He looks at the house one last time before closing his eyes.]

Cut off, I think. Some parts I'm guessing he... disposed of, himself.

[He swallows, again.]

Which I don't think any sane person would do.

[The body had reflexes against that, right? Taking your own eyes out? He shakes his head at the thought, though the way Stiles holds on to him a bit tighter makes him feel more at ease, too. He squeezes his hand back again, in response.]
ingoodcompany: ([Drive] White lines on the highway)

[personal profile] ingoodcompany 2015-11-06 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
[ They have enough to book a room for a couple days, but yeah - it would help a lot if the police department would provide a place for them in the meantime. (But look on the bright side, they're getting out of the cornfields! Let's just avoid corn in the future forever.)

Sorry. But he does nod at that. (Later. He meant later.)

And it sounds like this will only get worse, and worse. ]

That is... so gross. [ Seriously - he can say that Thomas is way too curious for his own good. And dad's saving the lecture on running back into a crime scene for later, bringing up that maybe they should table things for now. Go back to it later. Because seeing that is traumatic - and agreeing that it is in no way normal behavior. ]
trismos: bangparty @ DW (This is war)

[personal profile] trismos 2015-11-06 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
[It really would. Since they are not going to get where they were supposed to be, at least getting a place to stay for free would be nice. (Any other time he would actually smile at that. Because, well, there is something to be said about being able to see the bright side in all of this, and it's awe-worthy that Stiles does. It would be that sort of warm smile Thomas does when he is obviously fond of something, but well, right now, the bright side is a bit hard for him to see. And yes, lets.)

(And later, definitely.)

He doesn't answer at what Stiles says, just opening his eyes and looking at the house again. He is fully expecting that lecture to come later, just like he is expecting the cops here to do exactly the same. But he needed to know-- He had to see. Mostly because he was pretty sure that if he hadn't, they would have never been told what it was, and it would bother him forever.

Because something is off here. In that way that makes him feel seriously uncomfortable. Call it a 'sixth sense' feeling or whatever, he got it from their mom, he thinks. There was something weird about the whole scene and he couldn't shake it off. This was not a normal 'crime'.

He just hums in response to his dad, moving to rest his forehead against the window. Part of him hopes they find the missing son fast.]
ingoodcompany: ([Drive] White lines on the highway)

[personal profile] ingoodcompany 2015-11-06 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
[ They can ask about it at the station. Along with what's going to happen to the jeep - whether they'll impound it or not. (Nah, that was sarcastic. Except for the part about not seeing corn again, that was one hundred percent heartfelt. No more cornfields.)

(He'll hold Thomas to that.)

Stiles wasn't expecting an answer, but seriously, that is messed up, whatever was going on there. Wherever the cops will start from, they won't have an easy time of it.

And he doesn't know, but if Thomas brings it up, they can try to work out just what it is that's making it seem so strange.

He tilts his head a little, looking Thomas over as their dad starts to wrap up the call. He hangs up the phone with a quick bye, and a we love you, before coming to a decision. ]

[He'll let Stiles do the talking, he is better at dealing with them than Thomas is-- Clearly. (Well, still. It's funny, though, how Thomas has lived with Stiles all his live and some of his sarcasm still goes over his head. And, again, he agrees.)

Maybe they can talk more about it later, yes.

He says bye too, once he hears their dad wrapping up the call, smiling a little at the 'we love you', though his attention quickly returns to the house, forehead still resting against the glass.

The question, though, makes him look at Stiles again. He glances at the cat, all curled up, after, and ends up nodding. He is pretty sure he won't be able to sleep, he has too many questions in his mind, too many thoughts, and the images are a bit haunting, now that he has the time to go over them again and again-- It will take a while to get used to.

But maybe it will help him relax a bit more, at least. Clear his head.]

Yeah. [He looks at Stiles again.]

[ More like he hasn't done anything to piss off the local cops yet, so they'll be more lenient with him. Though if they do want to keep them close - they'll be giving a recommendation as to where to stay, probably.

They will be, there's no doubt about that. Stiles might not like the details about the corpses and all, (he really, really doesn't,) but he can work with them if he has to, or focus on the rest of the clues.

He doesn't put his phone away - it'll help to keep him occupied for the next however long it'll take - instead, lifting his arm off Thomas's shoulder and sliding over towards the far side of the car. It frees up more space between them, so Thomas can lie down. ]

Come on then. [ He holds out a hand, he'll tug Thomas down if he has to. ]
trismos: crys @ rpingicons (tumblr) (The honest)

[personal profile] trismos 2015-11-06 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[Well, as long as they sort it out (and pay for it).

Thomas will be reticent about giving Stiles too much information, mainly about the corpses, but he'll figure out what he should and what he shouldn't tell him, when they get to it.

He grimaces a little, as he feels Stiles move away, giving his brother a glance as he settles on the far side of the car. He looks at his hand, after, and then turns his attention back towards the house before sighing.

Sliding down, he takes over the space between them, and resting his head on Stiles' lap, he has enough space to get his legs over the seat as well, with bent knees. It's not great, but it's definitely enough.]

Here. [He says, moving his hand to his pocket and handling his own phone to Stiles.] If yours runs out of battery.

[He doesn't want him to think too hard about what happened, and if he is going to try and pass out for a while (or, even if it doesn't happen, at least try to rest a little), he wants Stiles to have something to entertain his mind with, other than what they just went through.]
ingoodcompany: ([Drive] White lines on the highway)

[ (Paying for them is a sticking point, isn't it?)

It's going to be awful to go through, either way. And yeah, they'll work through everything they have, as they need to. They might not be able to get the complete picture, depending on how much information they have access to at the time, but between them, and their dad, of course - it should be enough.

And the whole separation thing is only for a little bit, just a couple of seconds so that they can make the most of the limited space and get comfortable. ]

Thanks. [ He puts Thomas's phone into a side pocket. He probably won't use it - they should have some way of contacting people if his phone dies on him. It won't be fun, but he'll suck up the wait if he has to.

Anyway 2048 will keep him occupied for a while. Or if Thomas decides to keep up the conversation, even while he's resting. ]

[(Yes.)

Hopefully. There's just too many questions right now, not enough answers, and a very uncomfortable feeling of uncertainty attached to it all.

He got it. It's back to being comfortable and relaxed, now. Or as much as he can be in this situation, anyway.

He nods at that, simply, eyeing the window (he can only see the sky, like this, and a bit of the house's roof) before closing his eyes.]

They will take us to the station before it is over?
ingoodcompany: ([Finality] Bottom line)

[personal profile] ingoodcompany 2015-11-06 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
[ (Heh.)

He rests a hand on Thomas's shoulder, adding another point of contact between them and sighing. He's also looking out the window, more focused on what's currently happening, than what had been inside the house.

From the looks of it, the police have finally gotten themselves together enough to seal off the scene, a black van pulling up as the medical examiner for the county arrives, getting ready to do her job with her team. They're going to be in there for a long time, given the state the house was in.

He looks down at Thomas's question: ]

He curls up a bit more.]

Great. [He sighs, though his nose, the comment obviously sarcastic. He is not looking forward to that, mainly since he doesn't really have patience for it.

It's ironic how he always has so many questions, but hates it when he is made to answer too many questions himself. Mainly when they come from people 'of power'. It always bothers him, for some reason.
