[It's a week after the massacre at the GCPD, after doctors' appointments and a brief psych eval and about three days of being jacked up on enough codeine to render him loopy. His doctors had decided not to remove the bullet, and he'd spent a drowsy night looking into whether it would show up on airport security scanners--as though he actually travels frequently enough for that to be an issue. Part of him thinks he should leave, after everything that's happened. Logically speaking, when your workplace is capable of that sort of security breach, it's probably time to go.

But leaving would mean leaving Kristin, and if anything he feels more attached to her now. He'd seen the way she'd smiled after he'd saved her, and he can't shake the notion that she might actually have some feelings for him, after all these months. So after rehearsing repeatedly what he's going to say, he walks into the annex, his heart hammering with anxiety.

She won't turn him down this time, he tells himself. She won't.]

Hello Ms. Kringle. [He forces a grin.] I'm back.

[There was even more for Kristin to do than usual since the massacre, the GCPD busier than ever, but if anything she was relieved, and glad of the work. She needed to be kept occupied, in order to stop her thoughts from wandering to having been a hair's breadth from death. She's surrounded by files and papers, the whole annexe looking chaotic in contrast to her immaculate appearance. When she turns, offering Eddie a polite smile, the exhaustion from the stresses of her job, personal life and the daily hazards of living in Gotham City are plain on her face. But still, she does look glad to see him.]

Unless contaminated material is dragged inside of the wound or the bullet itself is explosive removal is typically unnecessary.

Yes, I did know that. [One of the few facts that he's told her that she's had some prior knowledge of, and it feels a little strange agreeing with him.] My father has a bullet in his leg, it made it difficult to get through airport security when going away as a child.
