Cole liked watching Cremisius train. He liked the way he could swing that maul around and make it look effortless when Cole knew that he himself would probably struggle to spin it in a single circle with his own body as the counterweight.

And he liked the way that other people looked at Krem, admiring him the way that a handsome young man should be admired, for his arms and shoulders, for his skill. He leaned on his elbows on the fence of the sparring ring, chin in his hands and hat tipped back a little so he could see more clearly.
