1. Love at First Sight...or, at least, Interest. Hey little mama, let me holla at you. 2. Gradual. Your interest in this person is growing after getting to know them. 3. Excitement and FREAKING OUT. Oh my gosh, there's absolutely nothing you'd rather do than spend time with this person you want everything to be perfect oh gosh oh gosh. 3. Hormonal. Girls are so weird but they look so nice. 4. BFF to BF Your friendship is becoming/has become more than that. 5. Secret Crush You can't let you liking the head cheerleader or the king's daughter get out. It would be a disaster. 6. What is this...Love Thing? I don't understand love. What is love, baby don't hurt me --- 7. Unacceptable Your brain is betraying you and making you have gross emotions towards that person. 8. You Totally Like [blank]. Everybody knows your little secret. Guess it's not a secret, then. 9. MY LIFE IS OVER. You embarrassed yourself, so clearly no one will ever love you ever again. 10. Grouchy. Or Stunted. Remember how I said not just silly kids can get crushes? This is for all the adults who are finally feeling that fluttery feeling in their chest. 11. Dumb Shows of Affection. You want to show how much you care. These thoughtful gestures can range from not-so-dumb (she likes cookies, I'll buy her one!) to really dumb (I'LL BUY HER A LIFETIME SUPPLY OF COOKIES). 12. Forbidden Attraction. Everyone knows exes are off-limits. It's, like, the first rule of feminism. Also included are siblings of best friends, best friends, and cute people in general. 13. Ridiculously Over the Top. SHMOOPY POOPY CUDDLE BEAR! All sorts of pet names and inappropriate PDA here. 14. Fluffy Moments. Not necessarily dates, but just hanging out and having fun together. 15. Confession. I REALLY LIKE YOU PLEASE GO OUT WITH ME I carved this rock with my bare hands for you. Or maybe something more subtle. 16. Unwitting Object of Affection. Usually an older party or someone completely uninvolved with this malarky, but crushes know no bounds. 17. Adorable Kisses. Please don't let me miss, please don't bump noses... 18. Sloppy Makeouts. Put on "Stairway to Heaven" and go to town. 19. Arguments. You jerk! Look what you've done! I never want to see you again. 20.First Time Obligatory smut option, touch a boob, etc. 21. ANYTHING ELSE
[ ooc: I could see either/both, and they would work well with that prompt. Do you want to transplant either into the other's world or just sort of not worry about it? ]
Nanoha had been many things to Zelda - friend, confidant, teacher, protector - so it wasn't too strange to see the two girls spending time together. If anything, many of the things they talked about, beyond various studies, was certainly towards Link and his attempts to impress the Princess.
Granted, when those moments came, Nanoha was always a comforting person to Zelda. She knew how annoying the guy could be at time and just having someone to talk to about it was for the best. Even if their talking lead to other moments...
It was in the midst of one such ranting sessions that the two find themselves now. It must have been a particularly dire event given how Nanoha couldn't get a word in edgewise as the Princess aired out all of her frustrations. At least now it seemed like she had come to the end of her tirade.
"—and then he just... left, without even considering to apologize for what he had done! The nerve of him. I don't know what my father sees in him, but I really ought to have a talk with him about keeping Link on as a guard."
She let out a sigh, hardly seeming like she had any breath left to give for it, and flopped back over onto her bed.
No, Nanoha couldn't. Sometimes it was quite aggravating to deal with, but it was obvious that Zelda needed it. "Honestly, I've yet to see anything in him, either." she admitted, taking a chair and sitting beside Zelda. "I mean, he's quite brave, but he has so much to learn. Being brash and reckless as he is won't get him any further than he is now."
She laid a hand on Zelda's arm to give her a comforting squeeze. "Perhaps I should talk to your father to see if I can replace him for a while. To give you some breathing room."
"Do you think he would go along with the idea? I mean, Link has been able to do his work, even if he has his distractions." Zelda was not too hopeful about that. There was a long history of turmoil in Hyrule, and only since Link's arrival had the tide finally been turned in favor of peace.
Another sigh. She reached over to place her hand on her mentor's, acknowledging her support. "But if I'm being honest, that is the best suggestion I've heard in a long time."
"Heh, I'm quite powerful in my own right, but I don't think having even a week or so without him by your side will harm things. If anything I think the both of you deserve a vacation from each other." Nanoha said.
Feeling Zelda's hand on her own, Nanoha turned her hand over so that she could hold her student's hand. "Besides, he may be your protector, but I refuse to let someone I care dearly about be pushed around."
Wearing a confident smirk, she gave Nanoha's hand a squeeze. "I like to think I push back hard enough. I just wish he'd get a clue!" She gave a little laugh. "Though... a week without Link loafing around? It sounds like paradise."
"It would be very nice indeed. Perhaps this is what he needs to realize he's being too pushy." Nanoha replied. "That would be the clue he needs, to be honest."
Pulling her hand away, she slipped onto Zelda's bed, letting out a soft sigh. "Maybe he'll grow out of it, too."
Zelda made some room for Nanoha beside her by shifting back toward the wall and onto her side. She rolled her eyes.
"I can't imagine him ever growing out of any of his habits. Or growing up at all. Maybe he needs himself a mature tutor, like I have." A chuckle. "I pity whoever has to try and teach him anything."
"Ha. But, you never know what may happen." Nanoha said, trying to keep an optimistic look on things. "Though... let's not worry about him, okay? You're already stressed out as it is..."
As Nanoha moved to lay down, her hands moved to reach and lift up Zelda's tiara. "While we're here by ourselves, titles and that boy is meaningless. Let's be ourselves, okay?"
With that tiara off, it really did feel like she was freed from her duties. Even if it was just a temporary, illusory state, it was a welcome change. She smiled.
"Another great idea. It seems like you always know exactly what to say, Nanoha. You're not an oracle too, are you?" Zelda was kidding. Mostly. It was an uncanny ability of the other woman's, so clearly it had to have some sort of explanation.
Nanoha couldn't help but chuckle at that. She knew she was kidding, but a part of her wanted to play along.
"Mmmn, yes, and I now I suggest we enjoy this." Nanoha said, reaching over and holding Zelda close. "You're a dear friend of mine and I love you dearly." It was something of a sweet gesture, showing Zelda that she wasn't alone. She'd be more than happy to make Zelda happy any way she wished.
It was not unusual for Nanoha to be more affectionate when they were alone like this, but it was a lot to get used to. Not having her mom around anymore it seemed that the other woman was often straddling the line between a nurturing, guiding figure and something else even more personal than that. It was enough to make her blush.
"You say the sweetest things..." And there were no complaints therein.
"I try, I really do." Nanoha admitted. She did have to blush, though - she was always trying to make Zelda comfortable and show some needed affection, but she was always worried of crossing the line.
"If... I make you uncomfortable, please, tell me."
"I'd push back," is all it should take to remind Nanoha that Zelda doesn't take anyone trampling over her just laying down. It's said with full confidence, and there is plenty of evidence to back up her claims as well.
That's all Nanoha needed to hear, to be honest. She was right, Zelda was one to stand up for herself. Sometimes, she'd forget that, but knowing her charge still remembered that important part made her proud.
So, she kept holding her the way she was and if Zelda needed any more or less, she'd let her do so....
Zelda seemed quite content with this outcome. Though she cannot simply enjoy even this peaceful moment in complete stillness. Her frustrations had left her too revved up for that.
"You're warm, too. Don't you have any drawbacks like a real person ought to?"
She tried not to grin at that, but it was an endearing quality that Nanoha made an attempt to put that idea forth in all her typical honesty.
"Hmm, is that so? That is an awful quality." Zelda tried to sound genuinely chiding but it couldn't be done. "Does that mean you're still working right now?"
"No, of course not!" Nanoha said. Even if Zelda was trying to sound chiding and failing, she was going to follow along. "But, if you feel that I am, you should tell me. I may be your teacher, but you're the princess and I should follow her commands."
That was probably a bad idea, seeing how wound up Zelda was, but it might let her blow off a bit more steam.
"If you were working, that would be terrible, and I might have to do something about it." There are lots of things she could be doing about it.Being in such close proximity limited those options to a handful.
Zelda did not think ahead, and thus she had no answer readily available. "I, uh...
"W-well, it's simple! If I'm supposed to relax, then you are, so we should be able to find some way to relax... together. Right here." She cleared her throat quietly. "After all, we're on a bed. That's what people do on beds."
